After the satisfaction of seeing his team on top of the ODI rankings, Graeme Smith had a personal milestone to celebrate as well, as he went past Sachin Tendulkar to take the No. 1 spot in the ICC's ODI rankings for batsmen. Smith began the three-match series against Bangladesh in third place, 24 points behind Tendulkar, but pushed him to second spot after scoring 199 and being dismissed just once in the three ODIs. In fact, Smith has been in glorious form in one-day internationals over the last seven months, scoring nine half-centuries and a hundred in his last 19 innings, for an average of 52.35. Tendulkar's reign at the top thus lasted less than two weeks - he claimed the spot after leading India to victory in the CB Series - but Smith is likely to keep that spot for at least three mont

There was to be no repeat of his twin centuries against Australia in 1998, but his 91 set up a total which, backed by Praveen Kumar's subtle-swinging accuracy, proved nine runs too much for Australia. In a game that ebbed and flowed wonderfully, James Hopes took Au

PAWAN KALYAN has been creating a lot of sensations off-late for all the wrong reasons and other than CINEMA. But the latest revelation has been that the strapping band that he is sporting now-a-days on his right elbow is a TENNIS ELBOW!!! I think many of you would remember SACHIN TENDULKAR had a similar one and was in news for some time. So, how did PAWAN got this Tennis Elbow? Well, according to a popular website Telugulo.com, Pawan used to do farming activities in his free time at his farmhouse in Sankarpalli. According to them, while doing so... he must have used his right hand for plucking out the weeds to the extent that it gave him TENNIS ELBOW. And so following his doctor's advise, he is wearing a strapping. How ridiculous is that? I am not a medical expert, but heard that SACHIN got it because of his illustrious but punishing career. I wonder what must be the real reason behind this TENNIS ELBOW?

SHANE Warne has listed five Australia players in his list of top 10 cricketers - but none in the top three. India batsman Sachin Tendulkar topped the retired star leg spinner's list of the 50 greatest cricketers he played with and against during his illustrious career. Tendulkar pipped West Indies great Brian Lara for the No.1 spot. But, surprisingly, there were no Australia teammates in the top three with former West Indies fast bowler Curtly Ambrose third ahead of Allan Border - Warne's first Test captain - and his fellow former bowling spearhead Glenn McGrath. Warne earlier this week caused a stir when he named Steve Waugh at No.26 on his list - published in The Times newspaper - despite the former Australia skipper often being considered alongside Tendulkar and Lara as one of the three leading batsmen in recent times. On selecting Ambrose at No.3, Warne wrote: "It was very difficult to split Curtly and Glenn McGrath, but I think Curtly had that extra half-

Sachin Tendulkar on Friday played an outstanding knock of 93 runs to beat South Africa by 6 wickets to level the three match series by 1-1. Tendulkar was the star of a rain-affected second day
Sachin Tendulkar racked up his 36th Test century as India finished on 384-6 in their push towards a strong first-innings total in the second day of their match against Bangladesh.
Persistent rain in Chittagong cut play short but there was enough time for the remaining home crowd to cheer both Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly past three figures when play finally got underway just after 1630 local time.
The pair had put on 189 runs for the fourth wicket, with another 26 added to the overnight total, when Ganguly scooped a delivery from Mashrafe Mortaza straight up to Mohammad Rafique.
After his colleague had departed for exactly 100, Tendulkar showed similar complacency having past the landmark in prodding a simple catch to Mohammad Ashraful at mid-wicket when on 101.
Mahendra Dhoni increased the tempo with some aggressive play once he was brought to the crease, but there will need to be plenty more pace brought to the proceedings
Chittagong, May 19 (IANS) Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly scored fine centuries as India took a firm grip on the first Test against Bangladesh on a rain-affected second day here Saturday.
Tendulkar notched his 36th ton (101, 169 balls, 9×4s) and Ganguly his 13th (100, 165 balls, 13×4s, 2×6s) to take India to 384 for six wickets in the first innings on a day when rains and unplayable ground conditions allowed only 20 overs.
When play was stopped three overs short of the day’s quota due to poor visibility at the Bir Shrestha Shahid Ruhul Amin Stadium, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was batting on 36 (35 balls, 6×4s) and Anil Kumble was on one.
After overnight and Saturday morning rains, the umpires inspected the ground thrice before play started at 4.30 p.m. and 23 overs were supposed be bowled. In all, 83 overs have been lost in two days.

I think Ian Chappel has come out a little strong here. Sure, Tendulkar is not the same player he once was, but I guess that happens to everyone. There are just a couple of players in all professional sports who have retired in their prime. Moreover, I think it is hard, even unfair to compare two players, Tendulkar and Lara, of that calibre. What if India had made it to the super-8, no one would be talking about Tendulkar then. First of all Tendulkar is just one member of the team, whatever he does shouldn't be the sole reason for either winning or losing. If it does then it is a shame on the team and not on Tendulkar. I hope Ian Chappel watched West Indies lose to Sri Lanka. I haven't seen many players get stumped facing a fast bowler. I can easily remember the times when people said Lara was a flop, after a few losing seasons. The point is Tendulkar should retire when he wants to. To come out and say that Tendulkar looks like someone who is playing for statistics is absolutely ridic
