Here's a quick tip about a keyboard shortcut new to Leopard (OS X 10.5) that I didn't know about.If you normally have Dock magnification turned off, holding Control and Shift while moving the mouse along it will temporarily turn on magnification. As soon as you let go of the keys, the magnification will turn back off again.The Dock will magnify based on the settings in the Dock section of System Preferences, which you can only change when magnification is turned on. I’m really sorry about this, but I did a monumental clusterf–k when I was upgrading DavaoBlogs.com. As a result, the aggregator site’s down and inaccessible for a few more days. There’s more. The Davao Blogs Directory (http://dir.davaoblogs.com) is also down, because it lives in the same server. What happened was, I upgraded the WordPress installation from v2.0.8 to v2.1.3, without deactivating the plugins. Next thing I knew, the PHP scripts were wreaking havoc all over the place. Good thing that I was able to keep a very recent backup of the site! And then I read somewhere that WP 2.1.3 isn’t a very stable release…. That’s what I get for not reading reviews first. In an effort to combat reimplementation of the archaic “Fairness Doctrine,” Congressman Mike Pence, together with Congressman Jeff Flake (R-AZ) and RSC Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) introduced an amendment to the Financial Services Appropriations Bill (H.R. 2829) yesterday. Thankfully the Amendment passed 309-115. The next question is, “Who are the 115 Stalinists?” Here is what Mike Pence’s Amendment will do: It will prohibit funds in the Bill from being used by the Federal Communications Commission to impose the Fairness Doctrine on broadcasters. Employees of the 25 tenants occupying office space in a downtown Elgin building were displaced over a recent weekend to remove asbestos and ensure the air quality was safe. The Tower Building, a 15-story structure that is over 90 years old, contained water lines insulated with asbestos. New city water lines being installed nearby required that the building’s drinking and sprinkler water supplies be separated, necessitating the asbestos removal work. The building was closed for a weekend in mid-May to test the air to ensure the safety of the building’s occupants. Due to an impending military transfer, Flada Blog will probably not be updated much for the next few weeks. As mentioned several times before, my wife, Alena, is a Navy Corpsman. We currently have orders to Pensacola Naval Hospital. Our internet connection has been shut off and this makes it a little more difficult to update and post. There may be occasions that I will write, then take my laptop to a hotspot to post. Even so, much of my time over the next few weeks will be dedicated to packing and preparing for the move. My thanks to all who have made my blogging enjoyable up until now. I have always been a huge Seinfeld fan. I even believed that I'd seen every episode- that is until this past weekend. While channel surfing, I happened across an episode that I honestly cannot recall having seen before and it got me thinking of a strategy for networks with currently successful sitcoms and dramas (House, Sopranos, Desperate Housewives, etc..). If these networks simply filmed one or two additional episodes a year they could hold them, releasing previously unseen episodes in future years (possibly during ‘down’ years when current sitcoms are weak…um, NBC). Imagine the hype surrounding an announcement that "a lost copy” of Seinfeld had turned up…the audience would be huge. Also, positioning new shows around episode releases of formerly huge successes might get some re-capture viewers who had lost interest in a network’s programming.
