Bought some Telus a few weeks ago at 39.99 a share. It hasn't gone anywhere recently but I intend to hold this until it hits my target. In the short term, even if the stock doesn't go anywhere I will still sleep well knowing that there is a nice dividend being paid. This is part of my core portfolio.

Telus picks up the LG VenusStrong work, Telus! First you guys are pretty much on the ball with your release of the BlackBerry 8330 Curve and the Motorola Q9c, and now you've become the first Canadian carrier to offer the LG Venus -- and you're clearly reveling in it, too, since you point out on your product page that this is actually LG's first touchscreen phone in all of Canada. $99.99 CAD (about $100) of your customer's hard-earned savings is going to net them a 2 megapixel camera, QVGA primary display, microSD slot, GPS, EV-DO, and stereo Bluetooth, so we'd say you've done good -- for the moment, anyway. Keep up the strong work.(Via Engadget Mobile.)
My Telus TV review has been read and commented upon like crazy—it’s my most popular post by far!
To update that post, Telus has recently been working on installing fibre optic connections around my neighbourhood. My townhouse complex is currently being retro-fitted for their new 25Mbps service! It should be up and running by late December. I can’t wait for this insane bandwidth to run through my house. Not only will this rawk my Internet speed, but it brings with it a free HDTV trial period. I’ll share more details after it’s up and running.
My understanding is that I’ll receive new gateway hardware as well as a new set top box for my TV. However, the HD signal will only be available for one TV initially (crap!). But I’ll now be able to surf the InterWeb while watching two TVs without any slowdown or synchronization issues (sweet!).
Bring on the multi-lane Information Superhighway!

It seems only fitting that RIM would launch its BlackBerry Pearl 2 in the motherland, doesn’t it? Available immediately, the 8130 is on sale with the carrier for a penny under $200 CAD on a three-year contract, $400 on a two-year, and $450 on a one-year, and a whopping $500 without a contract. Just in case the features slipped your mind, we’ll run ‘em past you again: EV-DO radio, 2 megapixel camera with video recording, Bluetooth with A2DP, media player, and expandable memory via microSD. If anyone up there has a pocketbook brave enough to bear such pricing, sound off in comments and let us know what you think of the latest ‘Berry.

The wait is over patient Telus P4000 users, the Windows Mobile 6 update is here. After seeing the recent flow of HTC updates, it is grand to see a provider on top of its game and delivering the goods in a timely manner. The update process is well documented and even includes the steps and numbers needed to reprogram your phone's settings via Over-The-Air Service Provisioning (OTASP) once the
THORNBURY, Ont. — John Daly won two skins and $30,000 at the Telus World Skins on Monday, taking advantage of Colin Montgomerie’s missed opportunities.
The Scot left a 10-foot putt worth $85,000 on the high side of the eighth hole and was feeling its effects afterwards. Even though he’s made millions in his long career, Montgomerie said the money was on his mind as he stood over the putt.
“That’s why I probably missed it,” he said. “If I’d not thought of the money, I more…
I’ve been using TELUS TV for over a year now so figured it’s worth reviewing as Canada’s #2 phone company gets ready to launch their HD service later this year.
The Free Trial
In early 2006, I had the fortune of being selected to participate in the free trial for TELUS TV (TTV). After being selected, a technician completed the installation within an hour because it only involved the installation of some additional hardware (two digital boxes, network switch, ethernet cabling) and some configuration in addition to my Linksys WRT54G and TELUS issued D-Link ADSL modem.
Initially, my TTV experience was average; It wasn’t much different from Shaw’s digital service. Picture quality, channel lineup, and the channel guide were very similar to Shaw Digital. However, being a free trial service I didn’t expect much in terms of reliability . That said, during the trial the picture would often be pixelated and freeze almost daily. The only solution was to reboo
TELUS contacted me in response to TELUS dropping the ball during the final game of Canucks vs. Stars playoff matchup. They’ve credited my account $15 + taxes to smooth things over, and I accept this gift as a gesture of “I’m sorry for ruining the game!” It’s nice to actually get something for my emotional distress and mental anguish.
Good on TELUS for responding quickly to their mistake.

Yesterday was game seven between the Stars and Canucks in the first round of the playoffs (unless you live under a rock, Canucks won 4-1). Undoubtedly, the biggest game of the season thus far, and one of the biggest games in recent Canuck’s playoff history.
Around midway through the first period, my beloved CBC broadcast suddenly switches to Fairchild television! My wife and I screamed WTF? I flipped the channel, it’s Fairchild TV; flipped the channel again, it’s Fairchild TV again. Alex quickly calls up TELUS to chew them out as the seconds tick away on the period. All she gets is a busy tone.

Did I get your attention? and No MoreThink adult content is a safe play for wireless carriers? Try asking Canadian operator Telus Corp.Telus quietly dropped its racy offerings this week—less than two months after raising eyebrows by becoming the first Canadian carrier to wade into the adult content waters—after customers objected to the service. The operator reportedly had registered and age-verified several thousands customers willing to pay $3 to download nude images or $4 for video files of full or partial nudity; hardcore pornography was not offered through the service.Telus was forced to discontinue the steamy stuff after receiving several hundred complaints, however. Vancouver's Catholic archdiocese last week told 130 parishes and schools to cancel their Telus contracts, and the company said some corporate customers also questioned the content. The carrier plans no formal announcement of the decision, but a company spokesman confirmed the move. The move seems to validate the
