Word on the street is that the computers that drive the special liquor order (SLO) system at the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) have been down for days. This means that restaurants all over the state are unable to order the non-"regular” wines they rely on as the bread and butter of their daily beverage programs. My heart goes out to all of the sommeliers and beverage managers that are
The Great Dane is out on a mission and there’s no stopping her. For a woman who has been tagged to and in some cases married ‘heavyweights’, Brigitte Nielson has always got what she wanted. This time it is the plastic surgery message she wants to get across to the masses and German television network RTL is going to make her wish come true. With her towering height of 6 foot1, a big bo
Is RealityTV Educational? How Making Changes to Televised Crap Can Help Your Kids Prosper - What is it about reality TV that has us glued to the television screen? How many people can relate too writhing and that of the head shake shiver in a bid to stop peeing our pants, all because we fear missing the next jibe or hint of rudeness blurted from the mouth of a big brother contestant. What of "I'm
Ron Paul might be a squirrelly little guy, but he continues to draw a crowd and his libertarian message continues to be popular among the faithful. Paul's youtube profile page has over 51,000 subscribers and over 7 million page views. While he has no chance at his party's nomination, he has created a force in the political year.My take on Ron Paul is this...his contribution to the election cycle i

Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby's courtesy call to Justice Secretary Raul Gonzales of the Department Of Justice last week was meant to remind the justice office not to forget their libel case against Lolit Solis and retired editor Veronica Samio.
The two Kapamilya stars, together with their lawyer Atty. Joji Alonso, expressed their wish for a fair and just trial because they were troubled by
I can’t remember a debate in which the only memorable moment was the audience’s heckling of a moderator. Then again, I can’t remember a debate that became such an instant national gag, earning reviews more appropriate to a slasher movie like “Prom Night” than a civic event held in Philadelphia’s National Constitution Center:
“Shoddy, despicable!” — [...]
A very different scene had played out there just 24 hours earlier, when a group of some 20 young Washington, D.C., libertarians had gathered for their own Thomas Jefferson Dance Party. The plan had been to celebrate the birth of the author of the Declaration of Independence by congregating, flashmob style, for ten minutes of quiet iPod-fueled dancing, then repair to a pub nearby. Instead, park police brought the party to an abrupt halt, arresting 28-year-old Brooke Oberwetter and leading her away in handcuffs, while chasing the rest of the group off. By the time she was released five hours later, attendees armed with Blackberries and cell phone cameras had spread news of the incident to several local bloggers. By Sunday, the story had appeared on Fark, and Oberwetter's
I’ve been getting a few emails the past few days wanting to “pick my brain” about what I do, or just wanting to talk/e-hang out in general. Since I tend to suck at answering e-mails and greatly prefer talking over AIM, I made a screenname that y’all can add & contact me at - poshnaps. [...]

The Iowa GOP has canceled its Republican debate that was scheduled the to take place on December 4th and was to be aired on Fox News. The party's political director Craig Robinson said the debate was canceled because of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney's unwillingness to participate."We are very disappointed that Iowa Republicans will not have the same opportunity as Republicans in New Hampshire, Florida and South Carolina had earlier this year with their FOX News debates," Robinson said in an e-mail announcing the cancellation.Political activist within individual state parties are the backbone of any Republican campaign. It is these individuals who do the majority of work. They do everything from get up in the wee hours of the mornings to drop literature on doorsteps to making thousands of phone calls on a candidates behalf before voting events. Not only do they not get paid for all their hard work, they open up their wallets to give the most money. It will be interesting to se
This is one of the most controversial films ever made and has won numerous awards. The Revolution Will Not Be Televised (a.k.a. Chavez: Inside the Coup) is a 2002 documentary about the April 2002 Venezuelan coup attempt which briefly deposed Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez. A television crew from Ireland's Radio Telifís Éireann happened to be recording a documentary about Chávez during the events of April 11, 2002. Shifting focus, they followed the events as they occurred. During their filming, the crew recorded images of the events that they say contradict explanations given by Chávez opposition, the private media, the US State Department, and then White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer. The documentary says that the coup was the result of a conspiracy between various old guard and anti-Chávez factions within Venezuela and the United States.-From wikipedia.org
In their never ending roshambo match with DirecTV, Comcast has vowed to offer 800 HD channels by the end of 2008. After DirecTV claimed they would have 100 HD stations by end of year, Comcast fired back saying they would have 400 by the end of this year and additional 400 by the end of 2008. Given there is not that much HD content around at the moment or enough bandwith to send it out using current compression methods, these marketing claims are more funny than anything.
So we’re down to the day before the 2007 Major League Baseball player draft. For the first time in it’s history it will be televised. The Deuce will be doing the honors for the ESPN family. Now I’m still new to figuring out the MLB Draft, and honestly have a hard time keeping track of [...]

I almost started an “Are You Kidding Me?” category for this one, but it appears that MLB thinks there are enough diehard fans who might be willing to watch the ho-hum event we call the Draft.
Honestly, I think there are some fanatic fantasy leagues that would probably draw more viewers than the MLB “real” version, but good luck with that one. The only think I can think of that would be more dumbfounding than this announcement would be announcing that it is on pay per view. Reportedly:
ESPN2 will air each club’s first round choice. Clubs will have a maximum of five minutes to make their picks during the first round. Following the pick-by-pick coverage of the first round, ESPN2’s telecast will continue as the Draft is ongoing until 6:00 p.m. (EDT). After the completion of ESPN2’s coverage, the first day of the Draft will proceed until approximately 8:30 p.m. (EDT). On Friday, June 8th, the Draft will resume at 11:30 a.m. (EDT) and then will cont
Toyama Koichi is a 36 year old street musician, who in his spare time heads the Kyushu Fascist Party.
He has recently served 2 years in jail for sedition, and comes across, on a good day, as totally unhinged. So how did he garner 15 000 votes in the Tokyo gubernatorial election?
Much of it can be put down to his rather controversial, albeit compelling political speech, aired on television, and rapidly uploaded to YouTube. Containing such riveting lines as “If I get elected, they will be terrified. I myself will be terrified.” It's no surprise that it took off the way it did.
In a move that could only have helped his popularity, Tokyo’s election commission asked for the video to be removed from YouTube. He subsequently became something of a Japanese interweb phenomenon, 2nd in popularity only to anime character, “Haruhi Suzumiya.”
In the ensuing fray, the video was co-opted, edited and remixed, spawning, amongst others, a Star Wars ver
