London, June 18 (ANI): Astronomers have, for the first time, developed a radio telescope that spans four continents, namely North America, South America, Europe and Africa.
According to a report in New Scientist, astronomers have long combined observations from individual telescopes. The process, called interferometry, produces the same resolution as a single dish as wide as [...]

Release your inner paparazzi with this telescopic lens for your Nokia mobile phones. Designed to overcome the many limitations of camera-based phones, this has been designed to let you snoop – er –focus in on things of interest, from afar. The attachment offers 6x zoom, which is not bad for £10. You need to attach it to the special phone back bundled and manually adjust it before snapping away. That said, and before you whip out your much-abused credit card, this will only work with Nokia 6230 and 6680 mobile camera phones at the moment. The rest of you peeping toms – bird-watchers - will have to wait a little longer. Via I4U.

It is not good to blog about Google Sky (including Google Moon and Google Mars) but leave out WorldWide Telescope (WWT). WWT is created by Microsoft and it is coming in Spring 2008 as stated on its website (but it is mid-March now). The key distinction of WWT from Google Sky is that WWT is using high resolution imagery. WWT also seems to have smoother zooming and panning (at least this is what I see in the demo video). WWT has interactive guided tours and a mini-zoom-map located at a corner, but in Google Sky, the navigation tends to be less systematic, I simply click randomly to discover things and I don't know where I am. Otherwise, I can't see much difference from Google Sky.WWT is expected to be available as free download.

It’ll set you back about $2900 but think of all the girls you can impress with your 11″ lens. The CPC 1100 GPS has a database of over 40,000 objects is fully computerized and has high-end features such as hibernate which lets the telescope maintain its star alignment night after night without needing to be re-aligned. In case you are wondering the GPS is for automatically downloading the date and time from orbiting satellites and pinpointing its exact location on Earth to eliminate the need for you to manually enter the date, time, longitude and latitude. Once the CPC’s position is established aligning the telescope is easy.Simply locate and use hand control to manually point (slew) the telescope to three bright celestial objects. You do not need to know the names of the stars — you may even pick the moon or bright plane
