They all sound like good causes and I'm sure the vast majority of them actually are quite worthwhile. The information I am going to share may be common knowledge to some of you, but I was totally unaware of it until my father-in-law told me about it a few years ago. Here's the simple question to ask whenever you are called on the phone and asked to make a charitable donation:What percentage of my donation goes to the charity?Assuming it is a volunteer making the call on behalf of the charity, the answer should be "all of it".
