It's true! Do they suck? Yes, they suck poo spots and pubes off of toilet bowl rims.I just got a phone call from Capital One the other day, that sounded like this (insert unconfident female voice here):"Hello, this is Jenna from Capital One, looking for someone with the first initial J, last name Goldstein."Now, right away, if I was named J. Goldstein, I'd know that this was not a personal call, a

The following email was sent by my sister-in-law after being harrassed by Astron Telemarketers. I am publishing it because this sort of thing is getting ridiculous, and I have had similar experiences with bank telemarketers here in Singapore.
Please report this company if they harrass you.
To whom it may concern.
Today I received 7 phone calls from [...]
What it doesYou hate telemarketers (even the charity calls). No-call lists seemingly haven't done damage to the legions of robot machine services that have sprung up in place of the real thing. The calls keep coming. So what is a fellow citizen to do? One method is to turn to the internets and to sites [...]
1. If they want to loan you money, tell them you just filed for bankruptcy and you could sure use some money.2. If they start out with, "How are you today?" say, "Why do you want to know?" Alternately, you can tell them, "I'm so glad you asked, because no one these days seems to care, and I have all these problems; my arthritis is acting up, my eyelashes are sore, my car won't start..." When they
I'm at my computer when I get a call from some B.S. telemarketer. For amusement I take the call. While I'm listening to the woman's sales pitch I Google the phone number to get info on them. She tells me I have won a cash prize up to 20 grand for an entry I filled out. I ask 'what entry?' She tells me from the Chicago Tribune 12-18 months ago (Bullshit, I didn't fill out anything from or in the Tri
These telemarketing calls.. Which of us have not been subject to them? They always call at odd times and try to sell odd things! Like once a young friend of mine was being haggled to buy a retirement plan, when the poor boy hadn’t even finished college! Ridiculous aren’t they? In a way I won’t [...]

Say the word “telemarketer” and you’ll likely see some eye-rolling, disgusted looks, and hear heavy sighs and many irritating experiences. While it is true that telemarketers generally cause frustration for most people, have you ever wondered why this form of marketing exists? The answer is plain and simple - it works.

About ten years ago, things couldn’t have looked worse for telemarketers and others who make their living by dialing and smiling. Congress was about to pass legislation enabling tens of millions of Americans to opt out of receiving unsolicited sales calls at home. The Internet was in its infancy, but it promised a more antiseptic [...]
Telemarketers are not allowed to call cell phones because they use auto-dialers (machines that dial multiple numbers at one time). If you ever get a call from a telemarketer on your cell phone, they’re probably breaking the law.

On one level you can’t imagine how disappointed I was with the telemarketing pilot program I purchased from an experienced firm. I got ZERO appointments. On another level, I’m thrilled that they’re as bad and incredibly deficient as I found them, because I am going to compete against them, knowing my firm will [...]
An extremely important aspect of your profitable B2B telemarketing is locating and taking on the best people. It’s not as if you can just put someone on the phone with expectations of good results. Once understanding the main objectives of your telemarketing efforts, you’ll need to take the specific role that telemarketers will play into [...]
YES, YOU CAN STOP TELEMARKETERS' annoying calls, or at least slow them down: Those 3 familiar tones courtesy of Ma-Bell will do the trick. Most Telemarketers use what is called Predictive Dialers, which are PCs with software that dials ever number in a phone exchange until it gets lucky. Now you can use their own technology against them. Here is how their system works: the dialer calls your number, you answer, and you have probably notice the line appears dead after you said, "Hello". What their computer is doing is listening for a short burst of audio, your "HELLO", followed by a period of silence. With this heard, it will log your phone number as valid and transfer the call to an available telemarketer, the reason for the delay before someone comes on line. Now, if their computer receives
If you had to pick between spam e-mails or telemarketers, which would it be? Of course, the obvious choice would be “neither” but can we stop either or? Probably not. So, you’re probably wondering what in the hell is this post about in regards to blogging? Well, keep reading.I actually decided to write about this topic because not less than 10 minutes ago, I heard a telemarketer leaving a message on my answering machine, “this is an important notice regarding your vehicle’s warranty.”And yes, that woke me up.Then I turned on my laptop to check my e-mail to get 15 spam messages in my junk folder. Though, two of them were actually legit e-mails, but on the other hand, I got two spam messages in my inbox which cancels out.And this was only one e-mail account! It irritates me when spam messages get deleted when it’s actually legit, or when I get a recorded voice on my answering machine and it’s actually my student loans company calling me and I overlook the message. So,
Most of the people are getting fed up with repeated calls from telemarketing people. Among those calls some calls may be useful, but most of the calls would be really waste of time and annoying. In order to avoid calls from telemarketing people, you have to register your personal and business mobile phone and land line with Do Not Call Registry. To find out about Do Not Call Registry, just search in Google for your country specific Do Not Call Registry. If you are getting unwanted telemarketing calls, even after registering in Do Not Call Registry, request the tele-caller not to call again. Still you are getting calls, even after your polite request, tell them that you will file a petition. And if you are getting automated IVR calls, then call your mobile or land line customer care and tell them to block those IVR advertisement calls. You may share this info with your friends, to free them with annoying calls.Related: Video showing the best way to handle impolite phone usersFor comple
nswer the phone. As soon as you realize it is a Telemarketer, set the receiver down, shout or scream, "Oh No!!!" and then hang up.- Tell the Telemarketer you are busy at the moment and ask him/her if he/she will give you his/her HOME phone number so you can call him/her back. When the Telemarketer explains that telemarketers cannot give out their HOME numbers you say "I guess you don't want anyone bothering you at home, right?" The Telemarketer will agree and you say, "Me, either!" Hang up.- Ask them to repeat everything they say, several times.- Tell them it is dinner time, BUT ask if they would please hold. Put them on your speaker phone while you continue to eat at your leisure. Smack your food loudly and continue with your dinner conversation.- Tell the Telemarketer you are on "home incarceration" and ask if they could bring you a pizza.- Ask them to fax the information to you, and make up a number.- Insist that the caller is really your buddy Leon, playing a joke. "Come on Leon,

Is it just me, or are telemarketers a special breed of irritant second only to dental hygienists?I can't stand them. I know they are human beings who are just earning a living, but why must they do so by bothering me? When did Bothering People become a viable career option?Telemarketers have been pestering the world for decades, and I say we need to fight back. Those 1-800 numbers calling during dinnertime are a dead give-away. I don't even answer them anymore. You know it's one of THEM calling when the first sound you hear after answering the phone is silence, followed by a click, then ambient noise of a room full of telemarketers talking, then "hello?" Some long distance calls, especially if they're coming from the other side of the world, begin with a click and delay too, but the way I can tell them apart from the telemarketers is the background hum of computers and people talking on headsets. What's even worse is when they don't realize that there IS a delay, and are enjoying
If Heather from "Accounts Services" is reading this, I know there is currently no problem with my credit card account seeing as I have no credit card account. Stop calling me!In other news, I'll be back tomorrow with a longer post.
Getting off the phone with a telemarketer without being rude is about impossible. The slightest hesitation, the smallest act of politeness and *poof*. That’s 10 to 15 minutes of your time that’s gone forever. What’s a person to do? Tom Mabe may have discovered a solution for us:
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recommended punitive measures and the setting up of a national "Do Not Call" master telephone list to curb unwarranted calls by telemarketers. In its proposal to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), TRAI has proposed seting up the National Do Not Call (NDNC) Registry, which will be a countrywide database of telephone numbers of subscribers who have opted not to receive unsolicited commercial calls (UCC).Once the rules are finalized, TRAI has mandated telecom service providers to set up a mechanism - call centres or online procedures - to receive requests from the subscribers who do not want to receive such calls a statement issued by TRAI said.It has also approached DoT to authorise the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to undertake the task of designing, installing, operation and maintenance of the NDNC Registry, the expenditure of which will be borne by TRAI itself. To make the deterrence stronger, the regulator h
Don't know why it is, but telemarketers seem to swarm to my phone number. Promises of free money, low interest rate loans, satellite television, etc. I've requested many times to be placed on their do not call list, and have signed up on that national do not call list registry, but seems to not be working.I understand that people have a job to do, but telemarketers really get on my nerves. You'd think that after telling them not to call back, they'd have the common decency to leave you alone. Oh well, one of the small evils of life I guess. By the way if your interested in signing up on the national do not call registry, you can find their website here:National Do Not CallBut so far it doesn't seem to be working for me. Maybe your results will be different.
“Hello, this is Rob with Johnson and Smith Investments and I’m calling to let you know about some exciting new movement in the technology stocks in our portfolio. As you know, many… Whoah… hey don’t worry about that yelling, one of my associates is just attacking the guy sitting next to me, but as I was saying…”
When I moved here, I immediately signed myself up for the National Do Not Call list. I don't know why I even bothered with that, because the telemarketers keep calling. Everytime another one calls, I politely inform them that I am on the list and they need to not call me again. I can't even lie, a few times I've come at them really sideways and thrown some four letter pleasantries at them. Alright alright, so it's really the other way around…a few times I've been polite, but usually they catch me while I'm eating dinner or when I don't want to be bothered so I can't help but be stank.I worked for a few days as a telemarketer in college, so I know just how hard their jobs are. You notice I said a few days? Yeah, umm…I got tired of people hanging up in my ear. However, I know that the telemarketing firms know which numbers are blacklisted, so there is no excuse for this shit. These telemarketers have gotten way gangsta for my liking. Last night, my phone rang and inst
You know you get too many sales calls when, after hanging up the phone, your five-year-old says, "Was that a sales call?""Uh huh.""Did you hang up?""Yup.""Good job, Mom.""Um, thanks."Next time I get such a call, I'm going to try this. Of course, with the kids shrieking like feral beasts playing in the background, I doubt it would work quite so well for me.Hat tip to Robin at Pensieve.Happy Friday.
