Teflon coated roller tray - just peel off dried paint.
There are few things as boring as cleaning roller paint trays. Unless one use disposable liners, we suspect that many people discard the whole thing rather than cleaning them. That's not too smart environmentally or economically. This new roller tray might help solve this problem. It has a teflon coating that lets you peel off dried paint without much effort. The big question is why it took so lon

      Hand luggage and Teflon
It takes up a disproportionate amount of time in my working memory:- how to minimize luggage but maximize options? It’s quite selfish really. I have three sets of clothes that I wear all the time, the on, the off and the in the wash. It’s perfect. It’s perfect until we set off for our annual holiday to England.Wear one and pack the other two in a suitcase? No. Wear one and pack the ot

      Getting Unstuck: Trashing your Teflon
As far back as I could remember, Teflon (AKA non-stick cookware) seemed too good to be true, and my lasting associations with the non-stick mythos were always tinged with cynicism (anyone remember the 1980s when Patricia Shroeder called Ronald Reagan the “Teflon President.” But as a kid, Teflon was everywhere and the benchmark of [...]

Quote of Whenever - Manhattan Real Estate and Teflon
"The price of Manhattan real estate is kind of like teflon."- Joya Dass, ABC 7 EyeWitness NewsDass went on to report that a hedge fund manager paid over $800,000 for a storage room in the basement of The Dakota on West 72nd Street and Central Park West: "The room's buyer, hedge fund manager John Angelo, said the price was reasonable, considering what he's getting: 800 square feet with 20-foot-high ceilings and two windows, bigger than many apartments in cramped Manhattan, where a studio can be as small as 300 square feet and the median price for an apartment is more than $850,000."Read moreP.S. David B. Caruso (Associated Press Writer), Manhattan studios can be smaller than 300 square feet. Not a quote of the day, week or month. Just of whenever. Until the next quote that moves me.

Teflon Products Are Damaging Fetuses in the Womb
Chemicals used in stick- and stain-resistant products are reaching children in the womb and may be tied to "small decreases" in the size and weight of newborns, two studies by Johns Hopkins University researchers indicate. The findings from the University's School of Public Health are the latest in a growing wave of scientific investigations, triggered by concern over the discovery that perfluorooctane sulfonate, or PFOS, and perfluorooctanoate acids, called PFOA, are present in human and animal blood around the globe. Teflon Chemical May Cause Allergies
Perfluoro-octanoic acid (PFOA), also called C8, is a widely used chemical found in things like: Stain-resistant fabrics and carpets All-weather clothing Teflon coated cookware Non-stick boxes and wrappers PFOA has already been identified as a "likely" human carcinogen by an advisory panel to the US Environmental Protection Agency, who, based on the panel's advice, called for a voluntary ban. Researchers at the National Institute of Occupational Safety in Morgantown, West Virginia, have new evidence adding to the risk factors of PFOA. They found that mice given PFOA prior to being exposed to allergens had more severe allergic reactions. It appears as though the chemical primes the immune system to overreact to any allergen you're exposed to afterward.Previous studies have also linked PFOA exposure to lower birth weight and head circumference in newborns, as well as birth defects and infertility. As in previous reports, officials admit to the surprising fact that 95 per

      Can Teflon be reapplied?
The "Teflon Taoiseach' has, without doubt, suffered the most bruising two weeks of his political career. While it looks unlikely that he will resign or that the government will disintegrate over this affair, just as a frying pan that has been abused by a spatula, Bertie Ahern's famed Teflon coating has most certainly begun to peel. Let's briefly examine the facts that have been made available:• Ahern received €50,000+ as a loan from various businessmen in 1993/94, ostensibly for the purpose of paying legal fees arising from his marriage separation. One such cheque was drawn on a company account. Eventually, this weekend past, Ahern paid back the monies in full, with interest.• £8,000 was paid to him as a gift for giving a speech to a group of Irish businessmen in Manchester. Ahern claims this was a private function and he was not acting in his capacity as Minister for Finance.• When Ahern was asked if any of his benefactors received political favours as a result of

      Throw Out those Teflon Pans!
Teflon - Scourge of the Kitchen: There is more and more evidence that those Teflon coated pans in your kitchen contain deadly carcinogens. From alternet.org: "Better things for better living -- through chemistry." From the 1940s to the 1980s, E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Co. wooed customers with that slogan, one of the most memorable in American advertising. But today, two groups of DuPont products developed during that era -- fluorotelomers and fluoropolymers -- are showing how chemical-dependent "better living" can come at a high price. DuPont and other companies use those synthetic compounds to make an extraordinarily wide range of products, including nonstick cookware (e.g, Teflon), grease-resistant food packaging (e.g., microwave popcorn and pizza boxes), stain-resistant fabrics and carpets (e.g., Stainmaster), shampoos, conditioners, cleaning products, electronic components, paints, firefighting foams, and a host of other artifacts of modern life. But like many "better things" prod
