This is my latest miniature (Can't stay away from the owls!). 'The Wink' actual size 2" x 3" watercolour on Arches HP. If you click on the image you should see it enlarged - one of the guidelines for true miniatures is that they be able to withstand considerable magnification. Its also easier to see the detail when its blown up! Due to working with such fine brushstrokes, miniatures take around the same length of time to complete as a much larger piece.
I'm calling this little fellow done. It is a Tawny Owl study in coloured pencil. The trouble is I am now itching to make a start on the paintings that this and the previous two owl studies were preparation for - they have been so much fun to work on I just know the actual paintings will be completely absorbing! But that won't be for some time yet, so a case of watch this space (but don't hold your breath)...
Once again behind with updates, so to remedy that here is the progress on one of the current pieces, a tawny owl. There is still lots to do, but it is coming together now. This is another is the series of owls I am doing in coloured pencil in prep for some larger paintings later. As before, I am finding that the verithin pencils are too delicious to work with, and the simple colour studies intended turn into more finished pieces as the level of detail you can achieve is so great. Very hard to stop...Despite their adorably cuddly looks, these little birds are apparently very agressive, especially when they have young. My thanks to Brian Hewitt whose photo I am working from for this one. I'll post some updates of other paintings on the go just now when I get time.
Actress Tawny Kitaen has entered a drug rehabilitation program after pleading guilty to possessing 15 grams of cocaine.
The 45-year-old actress will be allowed to change her plea to not guilty after completing the program, under terms of a plea agreement, officials said. The plea change will remove the conviction from her record.
Kitaen was charged with felony possession after sheriff's deputies said they found cocaine in her apartment in May.
