I had a very ripe pear that I wanted to use up and didn’t want to just make something like a muffin or cake with it. I’ve seen a few recipes about homemade granola and have kept them as a recipe to try one day. So there! It would be a great way to use up all the cereal leftover bits that sink at the bottom of cereal packs. With the pear reduced to a puree, mixed with orange juice, then thi

As Monica correctly alluded to in her love ‘em or hate ‘em candies, taffy is definitely a divisive confection. I happen to be a lover of this candy, ever since the days I journeyed to Catalina and discovered what taffy is.
As a product, taffy doesn’t really have a large niche in the candy aisle. Most [...]

A tamarind is associated with my school days. We had several many trees always laced with precious brown pods. We even had ownership rights to certain parts of the tree which was decided upon during the beginning of the term. The norm was the first comer on the first day of school gets to choose he

My late grandmother-in-law used to do this but in the deep frying version. She used black vinegar and the moment you sink your teeth into one, you'll start to salivate.I like it except for the smell. I find vinegar too pungent. And so I have tweak it a little. You might find it weird because usually chicken wings are either sweet or saltish. I doubt you have seen or tried sourish wing before. But
Lemon appeals to me because of its aroma, colour and more for its tartness....I baked biscuits and stuck with lemon-frosted biscuits in support of the colour yellow for Briana. These biscuits have been made quite regularly (actually, I have lost track) ever since I came across this.. This wonderful place has been a source for a great many of my baking escapades.. However..my end result does not loo

This dish always reminds me of Buffalo Wings. They are not the same though, as this one I cooked is not as hot. It's more tangy. The only thing that made it hot is the black pepper. If you can handle hot stuff, add some Tabasco to the sauce. I can never take that. Too hot for me.Ingredients:300g Pork Ribs (You can use Chicken Wings too)A dash of Salt and PepperCornflour for dustingOil for fryingSauce:4 tablespoon Tomato Sauce2 tablespoon Sugar1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce1/3 tablespoon Apple Cider or White Vinegar2 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper1 tablespoon WaterHow to do it:Marinade the ribs or wings with salt and pepper for at least 30 minutes.Dust with cornflour and deep fry them till golden brown.Leave on paper towel to drain.Combine ingredients for sauce in a sauce pan on low heat
Beets! Ah, how I love thee. I can still remember the first time I bit into a raw beet (with the tops still on) in front of Jeremy on a road trip. He got very wide-eyed and said "You can DO that?!" He likes raw beets too, but had only ever had them peeled and chopped in salads and things. He took a bite, and ended up eating more than I did. I've turned him to the raw side of the beet! ;) This salad, however, does not showcase raw beets. At first, I was thinking of making pan-fried beet fries. The more I cooked them, though, the more I thought having a sweet glaze on them would be divine... and it was! Oh, how it was...Warm Orange-Balsamic Beet Salad2 large beets, sliced into French-Fry-style strips1/2 cup salt-free veggie stock1/2 cup orange juice3 Tb. balsamic vinegarsalt and pepper to tas

So few days ago while cooking this refreshing dish, I was watching over my toddler play with some of his toys few feet away from where I was standing. Sometime later he started chewing on one of his toy and I like any other dutiful mother asked him to stop. The naughty toddler that he is continued to chew on it ignoring my willful pleas, so I scornfully said "S, you are a Bad Boy, stop chewing itâ€.
Now I was expecting that he would listen to me and stop chewing, but instead he said "Amma Bad Boyâ€. That totally caught me off-guard as I was hearing it for the first time and I ended up laughing loudly and giving the toddler a big hug.
It's one of those wired things that kids say but to me it seemed very funny more so because it was coming from somebody not more than 3 feet tall, bundle of innocence who until "yesterday†could not even sit, let alone talk. I had heard him say words, but not sentences and this seemed like a sentence to me albeit an unconventional one.
Anyway,

Samuel Chamberlain GRILLED LAMB CHOPSThis is a nice, feel-good, sort of dish (doubles up as finger-food too), which we like at home for a change from curries etc. The ingredients can be increased or decreased to suit personal tastes…we love the tanginess of the meat off the bone. The gang over at Hey it’s Free has posted a possible link to free candy. I say possible because it looks like it’s a link to a prize-winning page and not an authentic “sign up and get stuff free” page. Read the info over at HIF and fill out the form. The worst that can happen is you waste a minute giving your mailing address - the best that can happen is you get free candy in the mail! It’s got potential though since the page at mikeandike.com says “Free Candy Winner” and “Hey winner! Complete the following information to redeem your prize.”
There’s no telling how long (or if) this will work, so do it quick!
