Tampa Bay Rays 2nd Half Prediction
Here with my 2nd prediction of the week. Going baseball with this one. The Tampa Bay Rays have been a huge surprise thus far this season. They're young, and they're good. But can it last? I'm saying no.I think the Tampa Bay Rays are in trouble. They're much better than they have been in the past this year (obviously) but I think they need to make a move. I truly do not think that the Rays will win

Red Sox 6, Tampa Bay 7: Does anyone have a hand basket?
Remember how I said yesterday that if things go horribly wrong, that the Sox and the Skanks could be sharing 2nd place behind the Rays? Well, after last night’s debacle, that reality is getting more real by the day… And it’s not like Dustin Pedroia didn’t try to carry the team on his back, to single-handedly [...]

Red Sox 1, Tampa Bay 3: And yet another little Black Dot….
So, Tim Wakefield, despite turning in a competent 7 inning performance, throwing 115 pitches, 73 for strikes, and giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3, could not overcome the 2 wild pitches, an error by Alex Cora (only his 2nd of the year–better than Lugo’s 15…), [...]

Red Sox 4, Tampa Bay 5: Another 1-Run Game, Another Loss…
And now, the Sox sit 1.5 games behind Tampa Bay in the AL East Standings. The Sox tried in the late innings after trailing 5-2 for the most of the game, but once again, they fell short with a late inning rally. They are currently 11-13 in 1 run games…seems like a lot worse than [...]

Jarrod Washburn tossed seven innings of one-run ball to pick up his first win of the year. He struck out two and walked only one to move to 11-and-3 all-time against the Rays. Akinori Iwamura plated the only run of the game for Tampa Bay, which slipped to 3-and-5 on the season. Andy Sonnanstine permitted four runs on seven hits over six frames to fall to 1-and-1.         Tampa Bay Area Home Owners - Real Estate Short Sale Tip #3 You've talked to the people you need to speak with and you've decided the short sale is your best option at this point. You can sell your home and walk away clean, avoiding foreclosure, bankruptcy and taxes on any amount forgiven by your lender. But it's not that easy. The mortgage company holds all the cards and although most do not want to own single family homes, Your short sale must be approved by the lenders loss mitigation department. (We'll discuss how to get approval in tip #4) Here are some things to consider at this time. Because you have no equity in the home and the bank will ultimately decide what they will accept, you will also pay no commission or closing costs for the sale. Short sales are a lot of work and lenders often prefer to work with an experienced Realtor, rather then a home owner. Realtors have the best chance of selling the property in this market. Tampa Bay Rays are done with the Devil
Maybe some Tampa Bay baseball fans will be a little dissapointed. Now their favorite team has announced some changes. Big ones. They unveiled on Thursday a change on their colors and everything, but perhaps the biggest change (for unknown reasons), was shortening their name to just “Rays”. The “Devil” thing is gone forever.  Why do I say some might feel dissapointed? Well, the word “devil” doesn’t mean in this case anything related to Satan. But it definitely brings some kind of “evil” to the name. Something “evil” makes us think of something fierce and to be feared. That brings some strength to a baseball team, that otherwise will sound just too cliche (for example, the Rays).  The new colors are unique within the MLB, that we can say. This new identity has been received with a lot of excitement by the team and his owner, Stuart Sternberg. “We want the Rays to reflect the best our region has to offer”, says Sternberg on the “just Rays” official MLB webs

Yankees Officially In Playoffs Paste Tampa Bay 12-4
For the 13th consecutive season the New York Yankees clinched a playoff spot Wednesday night, as they beat up on the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 12-4. With New York in the Post Season, all four playoff spots in the A.L. are now locked up. The only question that remains is if the Boston Red Sox will remain on top of the East, and New York comes in as the Wild Card or if the tables will turn ending up with New York on top. Boston now holds a 3 game lead over the Yankees in the East. Yankees Ace Chien Ming-Wang saw his record grow to 19-7 as he threw six innings giving up two runs on seven hits, and striking out six. J.P. Howell took the loss for the D-Rays' record is now 1-6. New York was powered by shortstop Derek Jeter with his 12th homer of the season, and Robinson Cano who hit home run number 19 and had 5 RBI. Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman, said that the team was like Lazarus coming back from the dead. And the usually stoic New York Skipper Joe Torre actually shed tears.© Copyrigh

Bucs QB McCown the Story as Tampa Bay Beats New England 13-10
Fullback Mike Alstott started the night on a high note for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, running onto the field during the intros of the starting offense.  But the big story of the Buccaneers 13-10 win over the Pats Friday night at Raymond James Stadium was the play of backup quarterback Luke McCown.  He did suffer three sacks, but when he did get a chance to throw, he was perfect, going 7-for-7 for 68 yards and a touchdown.  He finished with a passer rating of 146.7. McCown led the Bucs to two scoring drives and was relieved as Tampa Bay led 10-7 in the third quarter.   “The thing we’re excited about is his mobility,” said Head Coach Jon Gruden of McCown. “He’s been on the rise since his return from a knee injury. Had he performed like this last year, he would have been our starting quarterback, no doubt about it. Luke McCown can throw the ball, he can run and he’s playing heady football right now. “We felt good about the last two drives of

Tampa Bay Meets with Former Dolphins QB Culpepper
Evidently still not happy with the teams quarterback position, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are jumping into the ring as a possible suitor for former Vikings and Dolphins quarterback Daunte Culpepper. On Thursday head coach Jon Gruden, GM Bruce Allen, and personnel executive Doug Williams met with Culpepper, who is free to sign with anyone after being released from the Dolphins on Tuesday. The Bucs have five QB’s already on their roster, even though one of them, Jake Plummer, has stated he is retired even though he has yet to file the paperwork with the league. Jeff Garcia, who signed with the team in the offseason from Philly, is the starter, and behind him you have Bruce Gradkowski, Chris Simms and Luke McCown. Gruden had said in the past that the door was still open for Plummer to come back if he wanted, as it almost seems in a perfect world for Gruden he would want Plummer and Garcia as his #1 and #2 QB’s. So now the attention turns to Culpepper, who has been waiting for hi

Tampa Bay Set to Take Action Against Plummer
The Bucs aren’t going to let Jake Plummer stiff-arm them much longer.According to the St. Petersburg Times, Plummer is subject to being fined for missing the Bucs’ three-day mandatory minicamp that concluded Thursday, and indications are that the team will ask him to repay about $7-million of a prorated signing bonus if he fails to play this season. Tampa Bay acquired the rights to the quarterback, 32, from the Broncos on March 3, prompting him to announce plans to retire.  Bucs general manager Bruce Allen said Thursday he recently spoke to Plummer and the team still hopes he reports to training camp on July 27.  “You can’t unilaterally retire as a player in the NFL,” Allen said, “because you have a contract.  He is under the same obligations as every player on the team.”  Plummer has three years left on his contract and is scheduled to earn $5.3-million in 2007, most among the Bucs’ quarterbacks and which counts against the salary ca

Tampa Bay Talking Deal to Move Up to Take Johnson
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking to move up the list in the upcoming NFL Draft, and word is the player they are targeting is wide out Calvin Johnson. The move makes perfect sense for the Bucs, who went out and grabbed last years surprise QB in Jeff Garcia, and are sorely in need of a big playmaker on offense, and Johnson fits that bill. Tampa Bay GM Bruce Allen has been talking to Raiders owner Al Davis about moving up, and Davis is considering the move according to sources. Word is that Tampa Bay is looking to offer the Raiders all four of their picks in the first three rounds just for the chance to move up to one to take Johnson, who many consider to be the best athlete in the draft. Johnson and the Bucs met on Friday, and Johnson’s agent said the meeting went well. Of course they also met with QB’s JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn, but pretty much everyone in the league knows that they have their eyes set on Johnson. The pressure is on Tampa Bay and more on head coac

2006 record: 4-12Head Coach: Jon GrudenOffensive Coordinator: Bill MuirDefensive Coordinator: Monte KiffinPro-Bowl: Ronde Barber (CB)OffenseLike alot of the years in the past, the Buc's offense was yet again, bad. Chris Simms ruptured his appendix in week 3 and it caused him to miss the rest of the season. But even before his injury he was off to horrible start, he had a QB rating of 46.3 and 7 ints to just 1 TD. His replacement was Bruce Gradkowski, rookie out of Toledo. Although he was a little better, it wasn't by much. Their running game wasn't nearly as good as it was last season. After his impressive rookie year, Carnell Williams had quit a sophomore slump gaining only 798 yards and just 1 touchdown. I also should mention that I drafted him in one of my fantasy leagues...yeah, that didn't turn out to well. The only player that had somewhat a good offensive year was 12-year veteran, Joey Galloway. He caught 62 balls for 1,057 yards and 7 touchdowns. They need help at quarterba

Can the Rays Escape Last Place? Tampa Bay Devil Rays 2007 Season Preview
In the world of baseball, every spring before the season gives hope for a new start and perspective and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays are proof of that. Every year since their inception, the Devil Rays have managed to be a second division team and end up in American League East basement. However, in light of their finish in 2006 and the past, with their young talent, they have hope for future. Therefore, the question remains, when does it happen? In the nine year history of the team, the team has only 70 games once. Will 2007 usher a change? That yet remains to be seen, but with the improvements the Baltimore Orioles made, a strong Blue Jays team, and the big-market, super-star laden New Yankees and Boston Red Sox, last place for the Rays may be all bit pre-determined.However, the Rays boast a plethora of young talent that rivals any with up-and-comers Rocco Baldelli, Jorge Cantu, Carl Crawford, Delmon Young, B.J. Upton and Japanese import Akinori Iwamura. That being said, for the most part,
