Trade Deadline, what the Yankees need
They need a reliable lefty reliever out of the ‘pen!!111!!!!11!! Shut your mouths with that nonsense, no they don’t, they have one of the top ‘pens in baseball(3.39 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 8.53K/9) and a minor league system packed with projected set-up men and closers. They have multiple relievers who can get ANYBODY out. Edwar Ramirez’s [...]

      Trade Deadline: Updates
According to Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com, the Miami Dolphins have sent WR Chris Chambers to the San Diego Chargers for what is believed to be a second-round draft choice. Also, the Kansas City Chiefs have traded RB Michael Bennett to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It is unclear what the Bucs sent to the Chiefs, but it is rumored to be a fourth-round pick. …Talk about murder on part of the Dolphins…

Trade Deadline--The Rangers are the Big Winner--How Does Daniels Look Now??
Earlier I discussed Jon Daniels performance after he was impugned by Peter Pascarelli. How has he done?? It appears he is a winner now. But there is reason for caution. Here, I opined that Daniels performance at the trade deadline might be the make-or-break time in his career. This was noted by almost everyone so it wasn't exactly the most original comment. Now it looks like Daniels may have

Gettin' You Through; Midday Open Thread: Trade Deadline
The rumors will be flying fast and furious over the next five hours or so until the trade deadline, which is 4 p.m. EST. Will Dye get dealt to the BoSox? Where will Gagne end up? Any big blockbusters on the horizon? Feel free to talk about any trades, rumors or possibilities here. As for the Cubs, I think they're standing pat. But with Trader Jim, you never know. He might have a trick or two up his sleeve. He's already said Pie is going nowhere; that's a good thing, because unless it would have netted Griffey or Andruw Jones, then that trade would have been horrendous as far as the future is concerned. If the Cubs do have a trade in the works, I pray they'll be sending this guy: Or either one of these two jokers: But, please, not this guy:

Nationals May Be Players At Trade Deadline
Old ballplayers, never die they just go to Tampa Bay(With apologies to General Douglas MacArthur) A few years ago that statement was true, as Wade Boggs, Fred McGriff, Tino Martinez, and other former MLB luminaries spent part if not all of their final years with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. This season it looked like the Washington Nationals were the team to take on former big name players, who had worn out their welcomes, for what ever reason with their former franchises. But according to reports published on Thursday, the Nats may just be using these former blue chippers to get themselves stockpiled for the future. Three names that have been mentioned prominently in recent days, as contenders start looking for that missing link, are second baseman Ronnie Belliard, first baseman Dimitri Young, and reliever Chad Cordero. Although Cordero is much younger, Belliard and Young are looked at by many teams as players on the downside of their careers, even though Belliard could be the most unde

Plenty of Names Floating Around as Trade Deadline Approaches
With the trade deadline just around the corner, plenty of names are being bantered about, including the Reds Adam Dunn, whose name was mentioned here on the site last week. Other names that appear to be ready to go to the highest bidder include players Jermaine Dye, Mark Buehrle, Carlos Zambrano, Troy Glaus, Scott Rolen, Mark Teixeira and perhaps even Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera.Dunn could be the key name in the list above though, as he has power and really could help out an American League team with the ability to slide in the DH role and hit 15-20 homers throughout the rest of the season. His power is what is going to draw offers from teams. Zambrano is an interesting story, as he has been in the headlines more for his fight with catcher Michael Barrett two weeks ago then his record, which sits at 7-5 with a 4.89 ERA. Some say that a trade for Zambrano is just what he needs to get his career on track. As for others in that list above, Dye is hitting just .221 with 11 home

A FEW DEALS MADE BEFORE TODAY'S TRADE DEADLINE! T...
A FEW DEALS MADE BEFORE TODAY'S TRADE DEADLINE!Today marked the trade deadline for the NBA and very few teams were active.First, the biggest deal in my opinion today was Fred Jones and future considerations to the Blazers and Juan Dixon to the Raptors. I think Dixon is a great player, but I want to see if he fits into Toronto. Fred Jones was inconsistent as a Raptor and should develop more on a bad team like the Blazers.Next, the Mavericks dealt Anthony Johnson to the Hawks for a second round pick. I like this deal for the Mavs because Johnson is a good player but didn't get enough playing time in their system. It doesn't matter what the Hawks do until they start winning but this won't hurt them. The Sixers shipped Alan Henderson to the Jazz for 2007 second-round draft picks. I like this move for the Sixers more than Jazz because they need more young talent as they rebuild and Henderson doesn't do much but rebound. I think it gives the Jazz some depth down low and adds a scrappy re
