It’s just a matter of time until somebody ram-raids an Apple Store, gets caught, and blames Steve Jobs for making products so alluring that they were morally obliged to steal them. Perhaps that should be the defence strategy for a couple of dastards in Salem, MA, who were caught by police after stealing 332 iPhones from [...]

~Snooper~This is something that needs to be spread far and wide. As I was reading the zillion of blogs Snooper visits, I found this one at Riehl World View.TNR: There Goes That Rationalization Unless I missed it, TNR seems to have gone dark on the Beauchamp affair, again. In any event, I watched Band of Bloggers on the History Channel tonight - they have a website hereThe History Channel wants to capture what it's really like to be a soldier. We're launching a new website showcasing first person experiences in Iraq, Afghanistan and all other American wars.and then I remembered reading this once at TNR.Over the course of the war, we have tried to provide our readers with a sense of Iraq as it is seen by the troops. Usually, these stories have been written by journalists who have traveled to Iraq and interviewed soldiers there, but last January Beauchamp sent us a first-person vignette that seemed a powerful contribution to the genre. There are any number of milblogs at milbl

Nokia has made a move to purchase the GPS unit make NAVTEQ, according to Engadget Mobile. “Finnish telecom giant Nokia has announced its intention to purchase one of the world’s two digital mapping powerhouses (the other being TeleNav) in an $8 billion deal that should result in some pretty sick location-based services on your next N-series phone. Nokia expects to have pulled NAVTEQ into the fold by the end of Q1 2008; all hail NokTEQ.”

I have two HSBC credit cards which I destroyed in April this year. It was my mistake that I didn't write in to terminate my cards though I no longer have the plastic cards.
Last month, my cards were charged with annual fee of $80 each. Yip... meaning which I had to pay $160 for annual fees. As usual, I called to HSBC asking for annual fees waived. I had done this for so many times for other
This from Scott Johnson in the Cincinnati Post. State formula is unfair to schools in Northern Ky. If you follow Northern Kentucky, you have gotten wind of the storm that is hitting Boone County schools. The storm's origin dates to 1989, with the Kentucky Supreme Court's landmark Rose v. Council for Better Education decision. This ruling produced the Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA) and a funding formula, "Support Education Excellence Kentucky" (SEEK).In Rose, the Court held:"The system of common schools must be substantially uniform throughout the state.""The children who live in the poor districts and the children who live in the rich districts must be given the same opportunity.""This obligation cannot be shifted to local counties and local school districts."The future of 18,000 students, Boone County's quality of life and the future of similar districts around the state will ultimately be touched by the strategy that deals with this Frankfort whirlwind. Although there is a te
Credit cards have extended the options for most of us to purchase and secure needs that will be essential to our everyday needs. While we see the various harmful goods that are placed in most supermarkets today, we still endorse them since we become more daring in making purchases because of that extended line of credit given by our trusty credit cards such as Master Card.
We can make a difference by becoming more aware of what we are buying. Our credit cards will not tell us what and what not to purchase. The decision on what to buy and why to buy still remains in our hands.

Credit and debit card data theft is more likely to happen at a store counter or checkout line than in cyberspace. As the recent scam uncovered at Stop & Shop grocery stores shows, thieves can easily steal information from card-swipe devices by using “skimmers,” electronic recording units that store card data.

Ronaldinho In Swipe At Eto'o
Barcelona's Ronaldinho has criticised team-mate Samuel Eto'o after his refusal to come on as a substitute. Barca boss Frank Rijkaard wanted to give substitute Eto'o...

If you’re like me, you rarely carry much cash and the checkbook gathers dust sitting at home. How does that impact the church offering coffers? If someone forgets to bring their offering to church, they’re not likely to have cash or checks on hand to quickly drop a few dollars in the bucket.
Donald Trump notes that many churches, especially protestant churches in the South, are now installing machines similar to ATMs which will allow folks to swipe their card and make their donation to the church easily. This sounds like a great idea; I’m sure that the contributions are up when folks don’t have the excuse that they forgot their checkbook; as Trump notes, pretty much everyone is carrying plastic.
The Plastic Swipe by Gabriel Nijmeh
I'm sure that most of us don't really know what happens between the time your swipe your credit and receive purchase approval (or, ugh, credit card declined). This is a process that happens millions of times over during the course of a day and one which we take for granted.
Let's VISA as an example, although this process works similarly for MasterCard.
Old news, but when it comes to current events, I'm not very current. This is what happens when I spend more time scanning iTunes radio streams for something passably cool than scanning msnbc.com. Anyway, I did my civic duty (my civic privilege, I should say) because if you don't vote, you can't complain about your elected officials. Not that I know enough about what's going on to complain. So, since I have nothing to say on the election, I will share some links to those who do.Chuck Colson talked of the pounding conservatives took in the polls, and suggests a reason for it. I think he makes a good point, and I hope you will check out his Breakpoint, A Pounding at the Polls: Why Conservatives Lost. You can listen to it, or read it.I listened.Total aside, speaking of Chuck Colson. I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of weeks ago. Uncanny, to hear a voice so familiar, and to see not the sliver gleam of my kitchen radio but an actual person, full of expression and reality. I sho
The Comics Buyer's Guide's Capt. Comics wrote an interview with Joe Quesada about Civil War in issue #1619 that took a swipe at the detractors of the company wide crossover:CBG: With "Civil War" coming on the heels of DC's successful "Infinite Crisis," the online cynics are snarking that Marvel's crossover is a "me too" response, and even the fair-minded wince at the timing. What would you say to counter this perception?Really, is that so? And who might those "online cynics" be or include? The blogosphere, for example? I don't know, but all the same, as an online writer myself, I'm honored to be called a cynic! LOL, I'm sure he didn't intend to, yet that's what he succeeded in doing - making me for one feel honored by the implication of cynicism! Ha ha!Seriously now, the interview still misses the bigger picture, such as the mass interruption of the natural flow for only so many once great titles at Marvel, continuing the assault on Spider-Man's ability to be en
