Red Sox 0, Toronto 3: No sweep for you!!
Who exactly said that pitching wins games?? The Sox definitely have the pitching–it’s the hitting that in deep crap right now…. Do you know who many runs the Sox have scored in the last 3 games? TWO… and in the last week? SEVEN–that’s right, seven runs in the last 6 games, including being shut out twice [...]

Double Under Guard Pass Counter: Sweep or Taking the Back
By Request: Countering the Double Under Guard Pass- Sweep or Taking the Back Video(revver)(Sweep)Essentially, as the person who is passing your pass begins to stack you and pass your guard, you create space just for a second by extending your hips, and with that space, you can feed your knee under the near arm of the opponent. After that, you control him by the wrist/elbow and by the belt (no-Gi/mma option: hook high up on the near leg. Scissor your legs, sweep.(Taking the Back)Against a really good opponent, he may try to just scramble his way around you.Maintain the grip on the wrist, roll towards him.Switch to grabbing the opponent's near foot, and now you're in a good position to attempt taking the back.

Red Sox 8, Rangers 3: And that would be a sweep!
OK, I have to admit–On Monday morning, when I was putting the little red dots on my calendar for the weekend, (red dots for wins, black for losses) I got a little carried away and put a red dot on this game–despite the fact that it wasn’t even going to be played for another 3 [...]

Ortiz Leads Red Sox To Sweep Of Rangers 8-3
The Texas Rangers historically are a team based on offense, as opposed to their pitching; Monday's game against the Boston Red Sox, unfortunately, proved that neither their offense nor pitching was effective - at least for this series, anyways - as David Ortiz' 3 RBIs led Boston to the series sweep of Texas 8-3 at Fenway Park. Boston was led by Julio Lugo with 4 hits - including a double while Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia and the aforementioned Ortiz had 2 hits each - with Ortiz driving in 3 runs and Pedroia 2. The win went to Clay Buchholz (1-1) as he pitched 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, walking 2 while striking out 6. Texas was led by Josh Hamilton and Gerald Laird - with Hamilton driving in 2 runs while Laird drove in a run; Michael Young and David Murphy had 2 hits each, as well. Dus

3-state martial law sweep underscores how 'the distinction between crime and terrorism is becoming irrelevant'
From: Three States Subjected To "Martial Law Sweeps"   Federal law enforcement agencies co-opted sheriffs offices as well state and local police forces in three states last weekend for a vast round up operation that one sheriff's deputy has described as "martial law training". Law-enforcement agencies in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas took part in what was described by local media as "an anti-crime and anti-terrorism initiative" involving officers from more than 50 federal, state and local agencies. Given the military style name "Operation Sudden Impact", the initiative saw officers from six counties rounding up fugitives, conducting traffic checkpoints, climbing on boats on the Mississippi River and doing other "crime-abatement" programs all under the label of "anti

      GOODNIGHT AND SWEEP TIGHT
PENGUINS 3 SENATORS 1 Thankfully, the Pittsburgh Penguins finally put the Ottawa Senators out of their miserable existence with a series-ending, 3-1 victory on Canadian soil last night. It was another dominant performance by the young Pens, who outshot the Senators 34-22 despite just four shots in the third period. Of those 34 shots, Marian Hossa had nine of them, yet somehow managed to not score a goal. Despite his 0 goal, 0 assist performance, Hossa was awarded the third star, indicative of the strong all-around game that he played in Game Four. But the real story of the night was the amazing Jarkko Ruutu goal at 15:28 of the second period, one of the "jump out of your seat" variety. It put the Penguins ahead for good, and was later supplemented by a Sidney Crosby empty netter with eig

Great-Apescape Means Clean Sweep Of Zoo's Security
An escaped chimpanzee made herself at home, raiding a kitchen cupboard and cleaning a toilet before finally falling asleep on sedatives on top of a fridge.Jimba, a 120lb chimp from the Little Rock Zoo in Arkansas, escaped from her enclosure on Tuesday when a keeper accidentally left the door to her sleeping quarters open.Jimba made her way to a storage area, went into the kitchen, and started to open cupboards and go through the refrigerator where the zoo kept the chimpanzee snacks. After binge eating on five pot noodles and a family size packet of Corn Nuts, Salsa Jalisco, which by all accounts are her favourite flavour. She also managed to swig from several bottles of juice that she managed to open. Then Jimba did what all party animals tend to do after such excess and headed to the toil

Yanks Dash Royals' Sweep Hopes with 6-1 Win
The Royals may have taken their home-opening series against New York, but the Yankees made sure it wasn't a sweep. In a game that was beset by stormy weather, Kansas City fell 6-1 at the K last night. It was a double by Jose Guillen in the first inning, scoring Mark Teahen, that gave the Royals their only mark. And it was an old nemesis who did them in -- pitcher Andy Pettitte. He went six-and-two-thirds innings, giving up five hits for New York. In his last nine starts against the Royals, he's got a 7-and-0 record. The Royals are still on top of the AL Central at 6-and-3.

Baltimore Beats Seattle For Fifth Win A Row: Sweep Series
Wow, who would have thought the Orioles would be 5-1 after six games? Well, the Birds beat the Boys of Seattle, 5-4, this afternoon. So much for being one of the worst Oriole teams of all time. Perhaps we may still be bad or horrible, but the Black and Orange are trying their best to prove the naysayers all wrong. There are only 156 games to go; however, right now it's an exciting time for us fans. The hero of the day -- beleaguered slugger Aubrey Huff who hit a solo home run in the 8th inning to put the "w" in the win column for Baltimore.Sherill earned his 4th save in 5 games, and Sarfate now leads the team with 2 wins. Daniel was Daniel, but after a win over a strong Mariners team, you've got to be only proud of the Birds.Go O's.

Sweeping Success: Blue Jays Complete Weekend Sweep of Boston Red Sox
The Toronto Blue Jays would like everyone to know that the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees aren’t the only AL East teams with playoff aspirations. In defeating the Red Sox 7-4 on Sunday, they completed an opening season sweep of the defending World Champions. Dating back to last September, the Jays have taken seven straight from the Red Sox. For some reason, they just seem to have the Red Sox’ number. Well, everyone except for Roy Halladay, who even in a winning effort was touched up for four runs, three of them via the home run. Halladay, who is one of the most dominant pitchers in the American League, seems to have the same problem against the Red Sox that the Sox have against the rest of the Blue Jays’ staff. But is it time to anoint the Blue Jays as a serious co
