Last night was painful, as the Orioles lost a game they should have won. It’s another loss, their fifth straight, and a blown save by George Sherrill. I figured this week was going to be a test for Baltimore, and alas, they have lost every game in the Blue Jays series by one run. They lost 6-5, as the Jays won in the bottom of the ninth. Yet, another fabulous effort by Jeremy Guthrie went by the
How come I never get to see these kinds of games???
Sure, I get to see the one run losses, or the nail biter Jonathan Papelbon-giving-up-hits-and-barely-squeaking-on-by stuff…But when there is a potential TRIPLE PLAY and 23 hits, it’s when I am not able at actually watch the festivities….
And this game had BOTH of these. I cannot [...]
This is a statement-making series. Plain and simple. We beat Kazmir with Pettittie, which nobody would have picked on paper. And we beat Jackson with Ponson, another game which favored the Rays on paper.
We swept the best team in baseball, holding them to only one run over two games. This is a Rays team which [...]

Atlanta was loving the fact that Tom Glavine was back in a Braves uniform. With that said, the New York Mets hated that very fact as he was virtually unbreakable. The 42 year old made a believer out of the Mets batters as he would bend a lot but would not break as he gave up 1 run on just 3 hits and that being a solo home run in the

Kit Stier/MLB.com:Darrell Rasner, unbowed by all of the chatter of potential young aces like Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy, knows he has been given a golden opportunity. The right-hander says he intends to do everything within his power not to let it slip away. Rasner, called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before Sunday's game to take the place of the injured Hughes, pitched seven strong innings in his season debut to help the Yankees cruise to an 8-2 victory over the Mariners before a sun-warmed crowd of 53,542 at Yankee Stadium. Rasner took the roster spot previously held by Kennedy, who was sent to Triple-A to work on his game. Rasner, who suffered a season-ending right finger injury when the Yankees gave him a chance last May, took the mound on Sunday and carried on the same way
With win, Yanks climb 1 game above .500 ..Interesting Fact: During the 3 game winning streak, Yankee starters, (Wang, Moose, Rasner) combine for 18 innings, 3 wins , along with a 2.00 ERA while giving up a total of 3 runs!ON THE MOUND:Darrell Rasner, just recalled from Triple-A in Hughes spot, made his first start of the 08 season and left a good impression. In the 1st, he got into a little bit of trouble surrendering a 2-run HR to Adrian Beltre but that was all the Mariners could do as he pitched his way into a victory. His first of the year. Overall, in 6 innings of work, he gave up 2 runs on 5 hits, walking none & striking out a total of 4 batters. 77 pitches were thrown , 49 for strikes.Ross Ohlendorf pitched a scoreless 7th striking out 1.Kyle Farnsworth came into the 8th and pit

By Request: Countering the Double Under Guard Pass- Sweep or Taking the Back Video(revver)(Sweep)Essentially, as the person who is passing your pass begins to stack you and pass your guard, you create space just for a second by extending your hips, and with that space, you can feed your knee under the near arm of the opponent. After that, you control him by the wrist/elbow and by the belt (no-Gi/mma option: hook high up on the near leg. Scissor your legs, sweep.(Taking the Back)Against a really good opponent, he may try to just scramble his way around you.Maintain the grip on the wrist, roll towards him.Switch to grabbing the opponent's near foot, and now you're in a good position to attempt taking the back.

The Texas Rangers historically are a team based on offense, as opposed to their pitching; Monday's game against the Boston Red Sox, unfortunately, proved that neither their offense nor pitching was effective - at least for this series, anyways - as David Ortiz' 3 RBIs led Boston to the series sweep of Texas 8-3 at Fenway Park. Boston was led by Julio Lugo with 4 hits - including a double while Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia and the aforementioned Ortiz had 2 hits each - with Ortiz driving in 3 runs and Pedroia 2. The win went to Clay Buchholz (1-1) as he pitched 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, walking 2 while striking out 6. Texas was led by Josh Hamilton and Gerald Laird - with Hamilton driving in 2 runs while Laird drove in a run; Michael Young and David Murphy had 2 hits each, as well. Dus
From: Three States Subjected To "Martial Law Sweeps" Federal law enforcement agencies co-opted sheriffs offices as well state and local police forces in three states last weekend for a vast round up operation that one sheriff's deputy has described as "martial law training". Law-enforcement agencies in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas took part in what was described by local media as "an anti-crime and anti-terrorism initiative" involving officers from more than 50 federal, state and local agencies. Given the military style name "Operation Sudden Impact", the initiative saw officers from six counties rounding up fugitives, conducting traffic checkpoints, climbing on boats on the Mississippi River and doing other "crime-abatement" programs all under the label of "anti
PENGUINS 3 SENATORS 1 Thankfully, the Pittsburgh Penguins finally put the Ottawa Senators out of their miserable existence with a series-ending, 3-1 victory on Canadian soil last night. It was another dominant performance by the young Pens, who outshot the Senators 34-22 despite just four shots in the third period. Of those 34 shots, Marian Hossa had nine of them, yet somehow managed to not score a goal. Despite his 0 goal, 0 assist performance, Hossa was awarded the third star, indicative of the strong all-around game that he played in Game Four. But the real story of the night was the amazing Jarkko Ruutu goal at 15:28 of the second period, one of the "jump out of your seat" variety. It put the Penguins ahead for good, and was later supplemented by a Sidney Crosby empty netter with eig

The Royals may have taken their home-opening series against New York, but the Yankees made sure it wasn't a sweep. In a game that was beset by stormy weather, Kansas City fell 6-1 at the K last night. It was a double by Jose Guillen in the first inning, scoring Mark Teahen, that gave the Royals their only mark. And it was an old nemesis who did them in -- pitcher Andy Pettitte. He went six-and-two-thirds innings, giving up five hits for New York. In his last nine starts against the Royals, he's got a 7-and-0 record. The Royals are still on top of the AL Central at 6-and-3.

Wow, who would have thought the Orioles would be 5-1 after six games? Well, the Birds beat the Boys of Seattle, 5-4, this afternoon. So much for being one of the worst Oriole teams of all time. Perhaps we may still be bad or horrible, but the Black and Orange are trying their best to prove the naysayers all wrong. There are only 156 games to go; however, right now it's an exciting time for us fans. The hero of the day -- beleaguered slugger Aubrey Huff who hit a solo home run in the 8th inning to put the "w" in the win column for Baltimore.Sherill earned his 4th save in 5 games, and Sarfate now leads the team with 2 wins. Daniel was Daniel, but after a win over a strong Mariners team, you've got to be only proud of the Birds.Go O's.
The Toronto Blue Jays would like everyone to know that the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees aren’t the only AL East teams with playoff aspirations. In defeating the Red Sox 7-4 on Sunday, they completed an opening season sweep of the defending World Champions. Dating back to last September, the Jays have taken seven straight from the Red Sox. For some reason, they just seem to have the Red Sox’ number. Well, everyone except for Roy Halladay, who even in a winning effort was touched up for four runs, three of them via the home run.
