An all new “sandbox” GTA style free-roaming game has been revealed by the UK Official Xbox Magazine. The game is called Prototype, and it’s coming from Radical Entertainment, the developers of Scarface: The World Is Yours, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, The Simpsons Hit & Run and the upcoming Crash of the Titans. Prototype is set for release in winter 2008.
The game puts you in the role of Alex Mercer, a genetically engineered dude (in a hood no less) with various powers, which include running up the walls of skyscrapers and slicing bad dudes in half. Naturally for anyone with “running up walls” powers, the game sets you in a bustling New York City. The environments literally have dozens of NPCs on-screen walking around at once, in a “living breathing environment” according to the developers. Whether that’ll be completely reflected in-game is yet to be seen.
