Super Furry Animals will bring more of their experimental melodic rock on Hey Venus!, which comes out on Aug. 28 through Rough Trade. Frontman Gruff Rhys recently told NME.com that the album has a narrative that revolves around a smalltown character named Venus who moves to the big city. The first single from the 11-track LP is "Show Your Hand." A few songs that didn't make it on to Hey Venus! will likely be included on the group's next record, which they're already working on. The Welsh band formed in Cardiff in 1993 and have released seven studio albums. The last one, Love Kraft, came out in 2005. Since then, Rhys has teamed up with rapper Boom Bip on a project called Neon Neon and released a second solo album called Candylion early this year. Bassist Guto Pryce, meanwhile, put together a reggae compilation for Trojan Records. Super Furry Animals will tour Europe tour this summer, while Rhys will play in support of Candylion.
