....and Moon, lol. My baby Matthew is now over 2 months, and he will be getting his first immunization needles tomorrow. Oh he is just so adorable, and growing so fast, I may say too fast. I will miss those first days when he was born. I can trace every step from the time Matthew was born, but some of the stuff is slowly fading as there is always new stuff everyday. We have been taking short walks
Just returned from ASCA, the American School Counselors Association's National Conference in Atlanta. Wonderful weather, blue, blue skies, warm temps, low humidity and fantastic accommodations. Negotiating Atlanta was a breeze and southern helpfulness and hospitality were everywhere. Thumball was a welcome addition to the event's exhibition floor where we received praise and thanks for expanding
Just as people who have outhouses see more auroras, people who do long-distance driving see more great sunsets. Last night, as I neared the end of my 15-hour Glenora-Whitehorse day, was notable in that regard. The 3 photos below were shot along Teslin Lake at 11:15 pm; along Teslin Lake at 11:22 pm; and as [...]
I don’t understand how he’s doing it, my dad, this thing, this whole thing, right now, down there. I don’t understand, my mind can’t stretch itself around, its arms reach out, fall short, grab air, grab nothing.
It’s not that he isn’t strong, he is. He is strong and good and brave, I know these things. [...]
In this weeks Birding report more information about the Gannet, which is definitely one of my favourite birds. Gannets are large black and white birds with long pointed wings and long bills. They can be best observed at sea when they are hunting and you can spot them as well from land. Gannets hunt fish by diving from a height into the sea and pursuing their prey underwater, which is spectacular to see. Gannets are colonial breeders on islands and coasts such as Bass Rock off the coast of North-Berwick in Scotland. I took this picture last year and the white colour comes from the thousands of nesting gannets and their droppings! (click on the picture for an incredible high res image) The UK, and mainly Scotland, hosts about two thirds of the world's population of gannets. Check out Gordon'
Amazing and beautiful sunsets. Greatness and trembling to observe of immersing of a crimson sun in a water smooth surface. Some people thus cry. Though it is possible to have a rest simply, admiring a view...
Many of you would have known that Waikiki is filled with more Japanese tourists than any other place. After a while, you tend to think that every Asian looking individual is a Jap... I have been mistaken as a Jap too in retail shops and a Hawaiian girl in some - all thanks to my natural tan. I guess I look very Hawaiian too - lol.It has been a week of great fun and relaxing moments. We had a wonderful day in Kailua, the windward town of Oahu on Thursday. The beaches were beautiful with clear waters that are calm and the waves, gentle. It was nice sitting by the shore with Clayton, waiting to be swept by the rolling waves... he had so much fun. This was the first time he would run in the waters and splashed around freely - but he was still very cautious - he is a city boy lah!I had a great time in Tiffany when DH went for his surfing lessons too! Though I couldn't afford those diamond pendants, I bought a beautiful Elsa Peretti pendant that I had been eyeing for. Honestly, when you se
Ready to surf the waves of Kuta, BaliKuta is a town in southern Bali, Indonesia. A former fishing village, it was one of the first towns on Bali to see substantial tourist development, and as a beach resort remains one of Indonesia's major tourist destinations. It is known internationally for its long sandy beach, varied accommodation, many restaurants and bars, and convenience to Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport.Kuta is now the center of an extensive tourist-oriented urban area that merges into the neighboring towns. Legian, to the north, is the commercial hub of Kuta and the site of many restaurants and entertainment spots. Most of the area's big beachfront hotels are in the southern section of Tuban.Legian and Seminyak are northern extensions of Kuta along Jl. Legian and Jl. Basangkasa. They ar
The full moon is bigger in the desert. At least that’s what the denizens of open spaces say, those lucky enough to be spared the daily fluctuations of coastal climes. In the desert the full moon is bigger.
Chamber Pillars: Is this your first sunset?
The moon in Alice Springs ascends from behind the MacDonnell Ranges that line and ring the town. And the moon is indeed big – a luminous orange orb that can entrance an eye for those first few minutes of movement in evening sky. The spattered scatterings of the Milky Way draw back at its grasp of nights’ undraped velvet curtain, like the skirts of the hills pulled up to the heavens.
Just beyond the ranges that hem this odd desert oasis, through the Heavitree Gap that opens for the road to the “south” (as in, everywhere else that isn’t north of Australia’s arid centre) and out by the road to the airport, nestles a dirt road that is oft un-driven by the passing hordes. An ideal hard-yakka sojourn
Okay, "finished" is a relative term, because I always want to add on additional pictures as I make them. But my series, Pacific Sunsets, is finished enough that I made my series book (being printed now - yay!) and I've made note cards and I can now get to work on the other projects using this series. I'm really happy with this series, because I LOVE SUNSETS, and it was an absolute joy to put it together. My book rocks my world, too, and I can't wait to get it.Here are a few images from the series, and you can find more on my website in the "Places" gallery. I haven't completely loaded all the pictures yet, but most of them are there.Keep up with me...

We were inspired by so many successful bloggers here and thanks to all who helped and mentored me along the way.So here's the full scoop, we have all seen the power of Active Rain and blogging and so I began a new outside blog with the Real Estate Tomato a little over a month ago and like a debutante in spring you gave me the motivation to go build my own and now it's done (ok nothing is ever really done - it's always a work in progress :-). We are excited to be officially presenting our "pretty" little Clearwater Beach Informational blog up and are welcoming all guests (and hope to see all our friends there). Nature's grandeur meets us every start and end of the day. Their magnificent glows, glorious light rays, marvelous sky colors, shapely cloud formations, as well as interesting shadows and silhouettes that are formed, make sunsets and sunrises top subjects of photographers. Here is a showcase of beautiful images on these subjects taken by the Pinoy Kodakeros. Enjoy this visual feast.
images copyright VivienBlackburnthese are a few of the sunsets seen from the windows of 'our' flat - the cloud formations were often fabulous. This one is low tide with the light reflecting off the pools and shallow water at the edge of the surf. This was a clear and cloudless sunset, turning the sky apricot and the colour reflecting on the sea. (high tide)The strange rectangle in this one is from the mirror on the wall behind, reflecting the light onto the glass.Between the photos and my sketches I'm hoping to paint a few sunsets :) - the problem with photos is that they can't cope with the tonal range that he human eye can - metering to get the sunset colour means losing detail in the cliffs, rocks and foreground - there wasn't much as the light was going but there was more than this. Putting colours down in a sketch in this light was interesting - the colours were far too lurid when looked at in the morning! they'll need toning down quite a bit.I'll be putting more photo

I don't remember what the weather was like in North Carolinaon July 1, 2006, but as the sun set on one year ofbecoming-a-new-yorker.blogspot.com, I wondered if it was asbeautiful as it looked tonight from my New York apartment.
Sunset Silhouettes@ The Opera House(Taken with my Sony Ericsson K610i cameraphone)I hate Mondays..I really really really do...This one was considerably more vicious than the rest.. One of the worse things you can wake up to on a Monday morning after a week of Easter hols is your hp ringing after you've only had 2 hours of sleep, your friend on the other end of the line talking frantically about some submission deadline that you thought was one week away which is in fact 20 minutes away for work that you haven't done yet and won't be able to do in, well 20 mins.. or one day for that fact... *ugh* i justifiably have a reason to diss Mondays.. especially the mornings ;I should really blog about happier things, like my box of Krispy Kreme donuts in the fridge or the fact that i've nailed making my own salad dressing and full salad from scratch or that my plant is still alive or that i had some killer pancakes at this 24hour place in Syd (like Paddington's Pancakes back home only bigge
Click for 318 image of a SeagullWell I didn't see Easter Bunny but this bird tended to make a nuisance of itself when I was trying to take a seascape photo. I walked to the left and it did the same as well as moving to the right, the gull followed, but of cause it had to stand between me and the photo I wanted to take.Click for 281kb image of Sunset at Port BroughtonThere is usually a good sunset at Easter time at Port Broughton and this year was no exception.Click for 497kb image of Port Broughton SeascapeI wouldn't say Port Broughton has a beautiful beach but at the same time it is an interesting one. I stitched three photos together in an attempt to give you a general idea of what the coastline looks like that is neighbouring the edge of the caravan park that my husband and I were staying at.Quick links:Free Subscription to SnapShots by Email technorati tags: images, Port Broughton, snapshots, photo, seagull, beach, sunset
Today I read in the newspaper about how couples were hounded at Bandra Reclamation. This is not the first time that this has happened. Every once in a while the cops go into overdrive and start harassing couples. It was on Marine Drive that they did it some time ago. The cops insist that [...]
I guess seeing sunset pictures can get a little tedious after a spell, but as everyplace north of Miami seems to be suffering particularly harsh winter weather I hope they might help to put a smile on the faces of all the frozen folks counting down the days to summer vacation time. These pictures were taken whilst sitting on the waterfront a couple of nights back just ahead of a really good meal at Breezes By The Bay in George Town - a great place to sit out on the verandah and watch the world pass by whilst enjoying your food. If you are looking for guides to eating out on the islands I can recommend this guide to Cayman Islands Restaurants which covers pretty much most places, whatever kind of food and mood you are looking for. Eating out need not be expensive on the islands, but some places do charge a premium.According to one taxi driver here, some of the most popular places include the Calypso Grill, Grand Old House, The Wharf Restaurant Fisherman's Reef and The Lighthouse Restaur
The rest of my trip to San Juan Capistrano was pretty pleasant as well. After the first day I simply drove around trying to find a beach to take pictures of the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. It was actually quite a daunting task as I kept getting stuck in fancy residential neighborhoods with beautiful views but high walls. Finally I found the public beach and had to run to the water to capture this series of shots. I was so focused on taking these pictures that twice the waves came up and soaked my sandals and the bottom 6 inches of my jeans. Thankfully, I took the casual dress instructions seriously and didn't have socks and shoes on.For food, I relied heavily on the free Wi-Fi at the hotel to find restaurants. I googled for "best sushi near san juan capistrano" and had a fantastic dinner at Gen Kai sitting at the sushi bar. All the sushi chefs were drinking beer, toasting with the customers and the atmosphere was fun and festive. I ate nearly $50 of sushi, oops! I made up
Walking is a good habit for both of our mind and body. It feels gladness to our mind and an exciting freshness to our body. It helps us to maintain our health and through this, our wealth. If you walk for an half an hour on everyday, it will be most good thing you can do for yourself. Then you need not want to do the risky exercises on all the day, even if you want to do, walking is better than
Late Sunsets?Hi all,Hope you like my latest piece. Actually, I'm still trying to work out how I managed to complete this today as well as the eBay Me Page?. OK so I admit that hubby did help with the Me Page stuff. However the painting is all and every bit 100% mine!I haven't named it yet but as you can see it follows very much in the ethnic theme and sense of place (particularly dawn and sunset) which has influenced so much of my recent work.Again I have chosen acrylic in order to exploit this mediums immediacy and ability to respond to any sudden changes. Also it responds perfectly to my style when painting sunsets.Catch you laterShirley

Great sunsets are characterised by the orange or red glow in the sky. This is actually caused by dust and pollution in the atmosphere. This means that the best place to find consistently good sunsets is out in the country, to the east of a large city or conurbation. The poor air rising from the [...]
