My good friend Amy over at Doobleh-vay always finds the best stuff. Like THIS. And after watching it about 20 times, it occurred to me that I could check YouTube to see if these talented (and weird) lip synchers had anything else. I wasn't disappointed.Sadly - embedding was disabled for my two favorites, so I couldn't feature them here. But I highly recommend B&B's version of Growing Pains and

Is there anything out there - like a resource or tool - that can not only help me overcome and recover from my addiction - but make it easier and faster as well?, is a question I'm often asked by people.
Some people think that they can play around with different drugs, legal or not. They do not realize the strong addictions that these things bring. It may start recreational but it ends up being something so much more than that. If this is you or you know someone like this please seek the help of a substance abuse treatment facility immediately.

Some of the natural substances taken through the FDA approval process don't appear to be dangerous. Omacor, the FDA approved fish oil, is only a problem because it is so expensive compared to regular fish oil -- although taxpayers bear the brunt of this price difference, because Medicare won't reimburse any other fish oil.
However, there are other natural substances coming through the FDA approval

In trying to understand what about Obama appeals so powerfully to his supporters, I’ve decided that some—perhaps even much—of it is style.
He gives a good speech. He has a deep voice. He’s tall. He’s slender. He knows what a dap is. And he can turn a literary phrase.
The latter is the reason some literary [...]

It just looked and sounded so wonderful: Obama at the rostrum delivering another powerful speech, 20,000 in the stands, 15,000 outside, the red, white, and blue, screaming women, happy babies, chants of change, talk of unity...yes, I too was, for a brief moment, was wooed by his charisma and overtaken by his vision. A certain saying tells us that we must never judge a book by its cover whilst another serves to remind us that beauty is more than just skin deep and, whilst we subscribe to the sentiments of both, the plain fact of the matter is that, when it comes to Newman’s new M8000 PMP, we simply cannot ignore its wholly uninspiring (some would say ugly) design though, underneath that brash exterior undoubtedly lies a decidedly capable and not unimpressive PMP.

Prepare to turn the clock back as London enters 4 years of stagnation. What is Boris' policy on transport apart from bringing back the routemasters? (Tories like to romanticize the past). What is his policy on housing apart from hating any building taller than St Paul's? I could go on for ages. People forgot how bad London was before Ken, they are going to get a taste of it pretty soon.
More than a year ago, a British teen stabbed his girlfriend 32 times while he was high on cannabis. The 15 year-old apparently got into a fit after his friends told him that his girlfriend had Aids. The traumatized girl was never the same even after plastic surgery healed her wounds. Such teenage substance abuse cases are not isolated to Britain alone though. The National Survey on Drug Use and Health found an increase in drugs other than marijuana from 3.6 to 3.8 percent among people aged 12 and above between 2004 and 2006. While substance abuse is a serious problem, cosmetic surgery specialists realize this none too starkly when they are brought patients who are badly in need of corrective cosmetic surgery due to physical abuse triggered by drugs. What is substance abuse? How would you define this term? While some people chalk it up to simple illegal drug abuse, other people believe that it is not quite that simple.

I have often wondered about the utility part of lamps in everyday life. And I do know it for a fact that decorative table lamps can do wonders to the way a scheme appears in everyday life. For creating the kind of ambience you crave for, lights can actually be used to change the mood of any setting dramatically. Whywhite lights have not been the favorite ones for designers, though they save fuel. Now you also get energy efficient bulbs that give you yellow light and also save electricity by about 60 per cent . Wow and it so much fun to play with lighting and effects ..its a completely creative experience
Speaking of which, I must add a few more entries to the modern table lamp categorywhy you get adjustable desk lamps that not just look good, but also offer you utility and great aest

From one-third to one-half of those seeking treatment for a substance-use disorder (SUD) may also have posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A multi-center study published in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research of PTSD among individuals seeking treatment for substance abuse has found a greater prevalence of PTSD among those who were drug- rather than alcohol-dependent, and that having PTSD was associated with a more severe course and worse outcome for a SUD. "We already knew that there is a quite relevant association between PTSD and SUDs," said Martin Driessen, professor of psychiatry at Ev. Hospital Bielefeld in Germany, and corresponding author for the study. "More specifically, PTSD is a risk factor for the development of a SUD, particularly a drug dependence.

Blogging is quickly becoming America's National Pasttime. I even think that it is passing up baseball for that honor. Everyone who is anyone has a blog. The more you blog, the more reputable you become. Should this be the case? I think not. Blogs should be of substance. The better quality blog that you produce, the more comments that you should acquire. As a Realtor, blogs should be geared toward people that would be visiting your website. One mistake I have noticed with many posts is that they are only posted on Active Rain and are not utilizing Localism. Localism is a great area that consumers read to learn more about properties and areas. In addition it can help them buy or sell property in your area (mine is Modesto) You need to be th

Parenting is the most difficult, the most challenging, and the most important job we will ever have. So many of our children's future successes and problems including drug abuse can come from early childhood. Yet fortunately we do not have to go it alone. We can learn from the successful parents around us, if we are fortunate including our own parents, and also learn from those less successful as well. We can also learn many important lessons about parenting from our own children. If we only listen and pay attention they tell us so much about what they want and need from us as parents. The three gifts to give your kids. While we can so often get caught up in the little details and daily grind of parenting, if we give these 3 gifts then the rest will hopefully take care of its

Last night I went through my feed reader and deleted over 200 blogs from it. Truth be told, I don't have time to read that many and it was becoming mighty overwhelming everytime I checked in to see over 3000 posts I needed to read. So I went through each and every one to see what was going on in them, and here's what I found:1. I don't need to read 800 review blogs on children's products. Half of those products are for people way above my personal income bracket, and besides...EB doesn't need a $30 bath towel or a $42 pair of baby knee socks.2. Most of the blogs had turned into content/review blogs...just post after post of crap just so they could slap up some affiliate links for you to click on. No substance, just crap.3. Homeschooling blogs. Oy vey. I kept a few, but several of
Being a working college student is not an easy task, time is short, the workload is tall, and the demands are plentiful. It seems as if every minute is valuable and one cannot afford to waste even 1 precious hour. Time must be organized to ensure that homework is completed, tests are studied for, and work commitments are met. In the middle of this whole mess is the need to provide the body with nourishment so that it may have the energy to make it through the daily grind. When time is tight many find themselves seeking out "easy" snacks, foods that simply taste good and go down without any effort. A twinkie is a great example of one of these "quick and tasty" treats. During a moment of hunger nothing tastes better than a twinkie, full of nothing but sweet, sweet sugar. The harsh consequence

We know John Cornyn is a Bush lap-dog who spouts his party’s line like it was the Lord’s Prayer. We know that John Cornyn was very likely a draft-dodger. And, we know that John Cornyn supported segregationist George Wallace for President. But, what about the real substance behind the man Lt. Col. and State Rep. Rick Noriega will defeat next November.
You can tell a lot about what an elected official thinks and does by the columns they are often privileged to be able to scatter through our state’s newspapers like pepper on mashed potatoes. In John Cornyn’s case, if you read his columns, you might get the impression (and rightfully so) that he has about as much substance as a bag of instant mashed potatoes.
Over the past year, he’s extolled the virtues of Blue Bell Ice Cream, shared his undying (and, we’re sure, completely platonic) love for Big Tex, and even offered a history lesson on the Texas Cowboy.

David Dayton over at the Silk Road Blog has for quite some time been churning out really good posts focused on China sourcing. The only reason I have not put this blog on our blogroll is because it is so difficult to navigate, due in large part (I suspect) to it being part of the company website. A few weeks ago, I told David (with whom my firm has worked on a number of projects) that if he would just make his site easier to navigate I would put it on our blogroll. He assured me he eventually would.
Then I blinked.
I went to the Silk Road Blog today and realized there is simply too much good stuff there to put form over substance, so on it goes.

Although she never won an Oscar for any of the performances she was nominated for (6), Hollywood knows this actress well. It was learned today (Oct 18th 07) that Deborah Kerr, the long time star, had died in Suffolk England at the age of 86. She had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease. Her legacy includes an acting resume of such memorable films as An Affair To Remember (1956), The King And I (1956), Black Narcissus (1946), King Solomon’s Mines (1950), Quo Vadis (1951) and The Prisoner of Zenda (1952).
Her leading men included such legends as Burt Lancaster, Cary Grant, David Niven, Clark Gable, Stuart Granger, Robert Mitchum, a long list of so many more in a tapestry of work that earned her a permanent place in the cinema history with a career that can be compared to “a great ocean liner with smooth sailing, occasional rough storms, otherwise solid and filled with substance.”
One of the top lead actors of the Fifties, her most memorable scene other than th
It's a simple concept--the first dozen singles by New Order collected, a couple of them rerecorded--but it's also a totally entertaining seven-year history of the band that married British post-punk alienation to the relentless hedonism of the dance floor. The band's hits were always deeply unconventional (like the haunting "Blue Monday," essentially a seven-minute drum machine test with a short lyric that alluded to the Falklands War), but they were brilliant productions, layering dozens of electronic countermelodies and percussion tricks over Barney Sumner's uncertain warble and Peter Hook's lead bass parts. Though they're audio snapshots of the dance beats of their time, they've held up both as club classics and as idiosyncratic rock songs.
Writing about child abuse for the blogging event “Bloggers Against Abuse” prompted me to come clean about an aspect of my life that I am not really proud of.
I am a substance abuser.
In fact, to be brutally honest, there’s more than one substance — there’s tar, hydrogen cyanide, acetaidehyde, eugenol, formaldehyde, methanol, and a host of other chemicals. (more…)
Some things never change.
That is a great truth I have discovered. Many things are not what they appear to be and if we don't want to see something we usually won't see it until we choose to. As a behavioralist, one constantly learns just as much about oneself as will be discovered about the subject of therapy or treatment. The accurate diagnosing of a condition improves with repeated exposure to similar cases. Strong intuitive instincts can be quite useful and must never be ignored.
In this life I believe there is a reason for everything that happens. I once believed that God allowed substance abusers to cross paths with me as punishment for some terrible sin I may have committed at some past time. What other explanation could there be? Over time I've grown to learn that many times it's not even remotely about this sick and clueless individual who chooses to slowly poison themself into oblivion and eventual death of the spirit, mind, and body. Reality often turns out to be

Young adults who drink malt liquor are at greater risk for alcohol problems and more likely to use marijuana, a University at Buffalo study says.Malt liquor is an inexpensive, high-alcohol (6 percent to 11 percent alcohol) beverage often marketed to teens, the researchers noted."In our study of young adults who regularly drink malt liquor, we found that malt liquor use is significantly related to reports of alcohol problems, problems specific to the use of malt liquor, and to marijuana use above and beyond typical alcohol use," study leader R. Lorraine Collins said in a prepared statement. Collins is a research professor in the department of psychology and a senior research scientist at the university's Research Institute on Addictions. The study included 639 young adults (average age about 23) who regularly consumed 40 ounces or more of malt liquor a week. The study participants were heavy drinkers -- they averaged 30 alcoholic drinks -- including 17 malt liquor drinks -- a week.Marij

Substance abuse often co-occurs with severe mental illness. Research shows that there is a 60% lifetime incidence of severe mental illness and co-occurring substance abuse (Dual Diagnosis). Another way of saying this is that 6 out of 10 individuals with a severe mental illness will have substance abuse problems some time during their life. Unfortunately, severe mental illness and co-occurring substance abuse is associated with a variety of negative outcomes including:

Pychosocial approaches to dual diagnosis have been limited in their success. The majority of approaches are adopted from programs that address substance abuse problems without co-occurring mental illness. These approaches are yet to be proven for dually diagnosed individuals. However, the research literature does support the following:
