Pitchfork is reporting that Swedish producer Axel Willner (a.k.a. The Field) wanted to come to United States with his new band for a little tour, but United States immigration officials had rejected their visa applications and barred them and all of their gear from entering the country. Dunque, qui ieri si è scritto un post in cui si raccontava come - a detta del dipartimento di pubblica sicurezza del ministero dell’Interno - siano aumentati i furti d’auto, a causa dell’indulto.  La cifra è chiara: più 72,92%! Le informazioni, io le ho tratte da un articolo apparso martedì su Italia Oggi. Così come i virgolettati che ho riportato, altro non sono che una trascrizione della relazione presentata al Parlamento dal suddetto dipartimento. La domanda è una sola (e semplice semplice): chi mente, Repubblica che dice che i furti d’auto sarebbero diminuiti del 9%, o il sottoscritto che - grazie alle informazioni divulgate da Italia Oggi - sostiene che siano aumentati del 72,92%? A voi l’ardua sentenza. In tanto rileggetevi il virgolettato (contenuto nella relazione): “+72,92% nel periodo agosto dicembre 2006 rispetto allo stesso arco di tempo del 2005, a fronte di un aumento dello 0,93% registrato da gennaio a luglio 2006 rispetto allo stesso periodo 2005”.

I have to take real exception with the awful, terrible, embarrassingly bad review that Ingrid Hoffman's show got in the New York Times this morning. It's just not true that Giada "is merely a good-looking woman with a mortar and pestle in comparison." Everything else, though, that Ginia Bellafante wrote is pretty darn accurate. I have a confession to make that may exclude me from the indie hipster crowd that a certain online review blog website seems to be generating. I really do not get or enjoy the music of Dan Deacon or Battles despite the obvious gushing I have seen for both across the web. Some of it is alright, but for the most part, it is really unlistenable. And while I would nominate Pitchfork as playing the pied piper role for both of those bands (and booking them for their festival last weekend as well), I have to give them credit for including an act that I do not have a hard time listening to at all in The Field. The Field is Axel Willner, and his style of electronic tunes is just what I enjoy from the ever growing laptop based genre. At this point, I would say The Field is still way underrated, but the previously mentioned Fork does love me, as evidenced by their review. Willner has already released two EPs on Kompakt; the 2006 4-tracker Sun & Ice and 12" Things Keep Falling Down in 2005. His tracks also appeared on both "Total 7" and "Pop Ambient 2007" compilations.
