Carbon nanofibers with diameters in the range of 100 nm to 300 nm were obtained by stabilizing and carbonizing electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN) precursors. The morphologies and structures of the nanofibers and PAN precursors were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. The diameters of the PAN precursors and carbon nano

7th Chord Structures - pt. 1
As promised, today's topic will be about the infamous 7th chord. 7th chord structures present a very unique sound and can give any musician a unique perspective on their playing, especially when 7ths are mixed with other chord structures.
The 7th chord is generally used in Jazz, Blues and Latin music, but there are many ways to incorporate its pure sound into other
Self-assembly. Self-assembly is nature's favorite way of building things. Simply create materials that naturally combine with each other in desired ways. Self-assembled monolayers, which we have already mentioned, are a simple example. Self-assembly typifies an approach that is often mentioned in writings on nanotechnology, the bottom-up approach. Assembling a car engine, say, from its compone

How much planning do you put into your Organizational Unit, or OU, structure? If you’re like many administrators, probably not enough. Too many administrators underestimate the importance and complexity of a well-designed OU structure. It is something that needs to be tailored to your environment, and it must strike a balance that ensures the structure [...]
This is one of those Lifehacker type of tips my wife discovered a few years ago. Problem, we have a play house I built for our kids a few years back that attracts bees, nesting birds and other pests. We would have to clean out the structure every few days to keep the pests from taking over. The solution to problem was stunningly simple. Spray the interior of the structure with OdoBan. OdoBan is a sanitizer designed to eliminate odors. It has a eucalyptus scent. Mix some up in a spray bottle, lightly spray the interior services and no more pests. It's like magic. And the kids are no longer afraid to enter the play structure for fear of bees. I suspect this would work with other cleaners like Pinesol but OdoBan is the only one we've used. You can get OdoBan at Sam's Club.

As many affiliate programs as there are, there are also that many commission structures. While we can't possibly go through all the different kinds, we are going to cover some of the more common ones. Hopefully, this will give you a decent idea of how commission structures work and which one is best for you.The simplest commission structure for an affiliate program is the single level or 1-tier structure. This is where you get paid a certain percentage of the sign up fee for that program or product. Most single level structures pay around 50%. Some a little more, some a little less. But for the most part, you're looking at a $10 profit on a $20 sale. The good thing about single level commission structures is that you do get a decent chunk of the sale price. The bad thing about it is you ha
Hey everyone,While I was watching a show on discovery channel yesterday, I realized that nearly 50,000 hectares of forests were cleared in 2007 to compensate the growing demand of wood.It is certainly not helping planet earth and with this rate we are not going to leave any wildlife resources for our generations to come.Wood is mainly used in construction and if we do not quickly look for alternates of wood in construction, we will not be having clean air and environment soon. While browsing, I realized that a good alternative for wood is steel. Steel building can be constructed as per our needs to suit our lifestyles.Steel buildings can be constructed as per users requirements and can be customized for any sort of structure.They have longer life as compared to wooden structures and are mo

Because of the color the original looks uninteresting, old, and just an ordinary structure with no appeal of whatsoever, but after coloring the accent stones and the window sill moulding into white, the structure now looks more interesting and classy. The overall structure now has an appeal that

From: Security Experts' 'Suicides' Called Into Question -- European Media Probe Dangers of Secret Surveillance Systems Investigations into the alleged suicides of both Adamo Bove and Costas Tsalikidis raise questions about more than the suspicious circumstances of their deaths. They point to politicized, illegal intelligence structures that rely upon cooperative business executives. European prosecutors and journalists probing these spying networks have revealed that: -- the Vodaphone eavesdropping was transmitted in real time via four antennae located near the U.S. embassy in Athens, according to an 11-month Greek government investigation. When it comes to adding charm and beauty to a garden, the most popular ones we come across are garden structures like arbors, trellises, gazebos and pergolas. Trellises wound around arbors can grab the attention of anyone who walks into your garden. What is more, these can flourish the year around. Apart from providing your creepers and vines with support to grow, garden arbors and trellises are a pleasing sight in any garden.ArborsArbors are normally used at entrances into the garden or your backyard. They can look very inviting especially if you have an attractive deck or patio seating beyond them possibly around an outdoor fireplace. Needless to say, they form the perfect setting to decorate when you entertain outdoors and plan a cook out with your close buddies. Arbors are also perfect

In C, a structure (struct) gives us the ability to organize similar data together.
You may wonder what I said. It is so in C, this is because structure is one
of the few things which is more or less entirely different in the two languages
(C and C++).
In C++, the role of structures is elevated so much as to be same as that of
a class. In C, structure could only include data as variables and arrays but
in C++ they can also include functions, constructors, destructors etc. and in
fact everything else that a class can. Knowing this, it wouldn’t be wrong
to say that in C++, structures are an alternate way of defining a class. However
there are some differences.
Look at the following code:
// First difference between a class
// and a structure in C++
// define a structure
struct mystruct
{
char name[25];
int id_no;
};
void main()
{
mystruct a;
// in C, it is necessary to
// include the struct keyword

Tim Leffel points us to this WSJ article about the ghost skyscrapers of Bangkok.
BANGKOK — One recent steamy afternoon, a shirtless man named Nop tossed out chunks of putrid meat for the dozen stray dogs that share his home, an open-air encampment inside the unfinished 47-story Sathorn Unique tower.
Ten years ago, Sathorn Unique was destined to be one of the city’s glitziest addresses. Today, its Corinthian columns and four-story arches are nearly lost amid a tangle of trees and vines. Although workers completed the building’s basic structure all the way to the top, its concrete shell starts to peter out about 20 stories up, leaving exposed metal and a half-finished dome on the roof. Steel bars jut out in all directions and mounds of refuse litter the grounds. Inside, two out-of-service escalators climb to nowhere and the smell of urine is overpowering.
But at least, Nop says, “the building won’t collapse.”

The answer is that Windows offers a set of functions that manipulate these structures in well-defined ways. These kernel objects are always accessible via these functions. When you call a function that creates a kernel object, the function returns a handle that identifies the object.

Although the book is written with reference to the British and European codes, the principles described have general application and exemplify structural masonry design based on a limit state approach. The opening chapter provides a sound understanding of materials properties and relevent structural principles, the basis for successful use of any design code. Next the autho

If you are in the market for a greenhouse but you don't need a permanent structure, you can buy a portable greenhouse that can be built and taken apart quickly, sometimes even within one half hour. These types of greenhouses are perfect for seasonal growing in warmer months for harsher climates, or sometimes for year-round use in more temperate ones.Usually, all you need to do to put up or take down your portable greenhouse is to extractr the anchors hoding it down at each corner and then collapse the sides and roof up, securing them to put them away. Another advantage to portable greenhouses that if you live in a cold climate, you can use them in the summer and then remove them and put them into storage for the cold winter months. Then, just take them out and put them back up when spring rolls around again. It also removes the need for you to build greenhouses that have to endure powerful winds or to be buried under mounds of ice and snow, for example.Don't Want to Walk Far? Put One

Queue is a linear data structure in which data can be added to one end and
retrieved from the other. Just like the queue of the real world, the data that
goes first into the queue is the first one to be retrieved. That is why queues
are sometimes called as First-In-First-Out data structure.
In case of queues, we saw that data is inserted both from one end but in case
of Queues; data is added to one end (known as REAR) and retrieved from the other
end (known as FRONT).
The data first added is the first one to be retrieved while in case of queues
the data last added is the first one to be retrieved.
A few points regarding Queues:
Queues: It is a linear data structure; linked lists and
arrays can represent it. Although representing queues with arrays have its
shortcomings but due to simplicity, we will be representing queues with
arrays in this article.
Rear: A variable stores the index number in the array
at which the new data will be added (in the queue).
Front: It is a variable
In the previous article, we saw how data is inserted and deleted in an array.
In that case we could insert data at any place throughout the array. However,
there are situations when we only need to add and retrieve data form the ends
of the array. Stacks are one of the examples of this.
Stacks are data structures in which data could be added and retrieved only
from one end (also known as the TOP of the stack). Suppose we insert 5, 6, 9
to the stack consecutively then while retrieving the first one to be retrieved
will be 9 then 6 and then 5. That is why stacks are also known as Last-In-First-Out
(or LIFO) structure.
A few terms regarding stacks:
Stack: Stack is a user-defined data structure. It is most
commonly represented by linked-lists and arrays. In this article, we will
be representing stacks with arrays.
Push: Adding data to the stack is known as pushing.
Pop: Retrieving data from the stack is known as popping.
Let us have look at this process with the help of an example.
Since the fire began yesterday, rescue workers have evacuated about 1,000 people from the path of the ``very hot, rapid-burning fire,'' Kevin House, a lieutenant with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department, said today in a televised news conference. No injuries or deaths have been reported.
Now, people borrowing home loans will have to ensure their home to be earthquake resistant, as per the new guidelines released by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Such a decision has been taken by the authority to strengthen collateral security. It will also prevent the borrower against parking fund into substandard properties.
Banks have been asked to consider the fulfillment of seismic safety before lending home loan for construction of multistoried buildings. NDMA has already sent copies containing new guidelines to the Ministry of Finance (MoF), which will forward it to the Reserve Bank of India for insurance.
Buildings whether residential or commercial (multiplexes, bridges, hospitals, and other important significant structures whose completion is after June 30, 2007 will have to comply with new earthquake resistant design, as per the guidelines released by the authority.
For HDFC Bank, it is a welcome move to offer home loans only to earthquake resistant houses
With the number of people living on earth growing exponential (6 billion in the last 100 years), there’s no room for cities to expand on the ground, especially in the big overcrowded areas, and that’s why architects are planning many ways of expanding through the air. No, we’re not talking about flying cities, just about structures that are getting higher and higher everyday.
So, here’s a top of the world’s highest structures that already exist nowadays or are going to be built by the end of this decade. Hope you enjoy it.

People owning apartments in illegal buildings in townships of Kalyani, Dombivli and Mira- Bhayander will require to pay twice the amount of property tax as fine. The major locations in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) can therefore turn out to be a prohibitive choice.
The state’s Urban Development Department has decided to lay down the penalty as a ‘distinctive’ to the increasing number of illegal establishments coming up in townships and urban areas of the state.
The state cabinet has approved an amendment to the Bombay Provincial Development Municipal Corporation Act, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation Act and the Maharashtra Municipal Councils Act, and made for the penalty in principle.
The legislature will consider over the amendments in the monsoon session and then made applicable in the state.
The penalty will be brought into effect in all urban areas and upcoming townships in the state except in Mumbai.

As of now, it is already one of the 5 tallest buildings in the world, set to climb up the ladder as construction goes on. Every time I drive b

CULTURAL AND HISTORICALThis is an attempt to compile all lists of declared structures and sites in the Philippines and make it available to the public via the internet.
