      Scared of Storms
We've been having some interesting weather around here lately. Severe Thunderstorm Watches are practically a daily occurence and we hardly think anything of them. The Warnings, though, are more serious. And the only one in our household that really cares is me. Last night driving home from Agility Class there were numerous huge lightning flashes at a little distance. I jumped at each one. Hope sai

We are facing some challenges in our business this quarter and everyday, I pray with faith that a miracle will come our way and we'll hear good news for our biz. Sometimes I feel like God is saying 'Be Patient' and other times, I wonder if He's going to put us through a tough test. Waiting is never easy and no one likes to wait. We are by nature impatient and we want things done NOW, FAST and INSTANTLY. So, it's a test of our faith now - waiting, trusting and having faith - even in the midst of the storms of life.

Parade of Storms = Snowy Thursday
For the past several days, going back to last weekend. There has been a “Parade of storms” moving out of Texas and the Gulf States into the Northeast. Most notably was the damage from ice storms earlier in the week through Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska leaving hundreds of thousands of people without power and causing widespread damage. We only had the threat of ice and freezing rain Saturday night into Monday Morning. Since then here in Erie and most of region just saw rain on Tuesday. These series of storms have been riding along the Jet Stream, which could be considered a very fast moving highway of air that guide and steer storms across the United States and even the world. This “Parade of Storms” is not done yet. The next storm moves into the lower Great Lakes and the Northeast. We have a Winter Storm Warning for Erie, Crawford Counties in Pennsylvania from 5am to 6pm Thursday as well as Chautauqua County in New York. Winter Weat

      Several potential winter storms

BL temperatures below freezing and surface temperatures around 30 will create 15:1 ratios, with .01 to .20" QPF across New England. The NAM is rather dry, even with some areas getting nothing at all, however the GFS has maintained at least widepread trace amounts tomorrow, so could see a coating to maybe a half inch of snow through tomorrow night. A few places may pick up 2 to 3 inches towards the north. Temperatures warm as storm pulls north on Saturday. ---Updates in the Winter Weather Outlook2) Sunday 12/9 - Monday 12/10 - A thermal boundary will move south of southern New England on Sunday, bringing cooler temperatures south along with light snow. Change in tactics -Ps3 storms Japan
So we all know, yes , the Wii is great fun and is selling like hot cakes in Japan but...For the second week running the PS3 has outsold the Wii by quite a decent margin as well. PS3: 53,000Wii: 36,000360: 5,700 The 360 is still receiving no love in the land of the rising sun and I think it is pretty safe to say now that it will come stone last once again over there. The latest price cut seems to have been the kicker for the Japanese and there is no reason why this upturn in fortune should end any time soon.Posts LazyGamer

Friday October 5th - little yellow storms
My parting gift to Frances and George was two bulbs of garlic and about 900g of sugar. Being alone, and wanting to travel light, a single bulb and 100g of sugar were more than enough, but it's impossible to buy in such small quantities. I hope they appreciated the generous donation anyway.I filled up on baguette, jam, warm croissants, coffee and orange juice at breakfast. I was running dangerously low on porridge supplies and had yet to see any in the shops, but Frances assured me that it was available in some larger supermarkets, and should become more available as I got further south. One of the topics of discussion the previous evening had been the Puy-de-Dôme, a huge dormant volcano in the Auvergne region. A road leads all the way up to the summit, from which apparently the views are spectacular, and the mountain has occasionally been part of the Tour de France. I decided I had to climb it.I entered the Puy-de-Dôme departement and headed for Pontaumur to try to get campsite lists

The Almost Daily 2¢ - Storms a Brewin’
I think it’s safe to say that we have reached yet another turning point in the housing decline and its effect on the economy as a whole.Even with the tremendous mortgage-credit turmoil and the emergency Fed actions seen in August, traditional consensus held firmly to the notion of “containment”, unwilling to accept that the housing bust would impact the consumer to an extent that might prove recessionary. But as we can now see in the latest sentiment surveys, consumers are very clearly acknowledging pain specifically from declining housing wealth and more importantly, expecting more in the future. This represents the continuation of what has been a consistent downshift in confidence that after having, in many ways, reached a crescendo during the summer of 2004, declined precipitously ever since. This is a key point as it highlights the importance that people’s perception, sentiment and psychology has on a market and an economy.Remember that during the summer of 2004, although ther

Tonight on CBS, Lesley Stahl interviewed French President Nicolas Sarkozy on 60 Minutes. Sarkozy is a very impressive leader. Wind storms
It's 11:47 p.m. I'm tired. I just ate some ice cream. I'm shivering.Did I mention I'm tired?I spent the evening at the hospital. Everything's fine -- just annoying more than anything else.On the plus side, the hospital had warmth, TV, and a nice nurse named Ruthie who told me I was the most sane person she had seen all night. That made me warm inside.I had no warmth, I had no TV. The power was out when I got home at 6, and it just came back on about 10 minutes ago. I'm so happy I can hardly control myself. The Seattle area had its first winter storm today -- mostly rain and wind. By midwest and east coast standards, these storms are not the worst things in the world. However, they make me nervous.... I'm mildly convinced that a gigantic tree is going to blow over and fall on my head. You see, I've had a bout of bad luck. Well, a life of bad luck, actually. So many bizarrely bad luckish I couldn't begin to describe them, and recounting them isn't worth my energy (why is it so

Global Warming Will Bring Violent Storms And Tornadoes, NASA Predicts
NASA scientists have developed a new climate model that indicates that the most violent severe storms and tornadoes may become more common as Earth’s climate warms. Previous climate model studies have shown that heavy rainstorms will be more common in a warmer climate, but few global models have attempted to simulate the strength of updrafts in these storms. The model developed at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies by researchers Tony Del Genio, Mao-Sung Yao, and Jeff Jonas is the first to successfully simulate the observed difference in strength between land and ocean storms and is the first to estimate how the strength will change in a warming climate, including “severe thunderstorms” that also occur with significant wind shear and produce damaging winds at the ground. This information can be derived from the temperatures and humidities predicted by a climate computer model, according to the new study published on August 17 in the American Geophysical

Hurricane Blues - Using A UPS To Protect Your System During Storms And More
By Worth GodwinNote: this was written on Monday August 13th, 2007 as Hurricane Flossie advanced on the Hawaiian islands. As I write this, it's a bright and sunny day outside, with nothing to hint at the fact that we're under a hurricane advisory. Hurricane Flossie is bearing down on us and could hit tomorrow or Wednesday, so people are scurrying around all over the island stocking up on bottled water, food and other supplies. But there's one thing they should have that most of them probably haven't thought of.It's called a UPS -- not to be confused with the shipping company of the same name -- which stands for "Uninterruptible Power Supply", and it's an important thing to have to protect your computer even if you're not being threatened by a hurricane.Let me explain what a UPS is, and what it does.First off, let me back up a step and make sure you know what a surge suppressor is, since the two things are related.A surge suppressor is a power strip with a bunch of power sockets in

      Through Sunshine And Storms
Penpalling to me has kind of become the ultimate shoulder I share with my pal. I started pen palling sometime around 1992. My neighbor was off for six months to an outstation and I was given the responsibility to collect all his mailing correspondences. So like any other day I received a magazine from his mail box and took that to my home. In the evening I had nothing to do as such and I was bit inquisitive about the package. So after spending quite a few minutes drumming my fingers on the table I opened it up to thumb through. Little did I know that the favor was to bring me more support, friends, caring, and happiness lasting all this time and in the years to come.I found a penpals section there and wrote to the listed names. Today I still have one pal from the list although I've got some more during all these years. We had been through so many similar occasions, such as meeting our future spouses, our marriages, the births of our children and ill-fated termination of happy journeys

      Summer Storms
After several days of hot, humid weather in our region, some summer thunderstorms moved through yesterday. The light was amazing after the storm passed over. It cast a warm glow over us and reflected off the dark clouds that had already passed over. The conditions for this kind of light only come around a couple times a year, and it is always a beautiful sight.

The Exploitation of Every Breath for Christ: A Rebuke From Sam Storms and Jonathan Edwards
How long have you been reading this blog? How many breaths have you taken? How long have I been reading this blog? How many breaths have I taken since I sat down to peruse and surf around the blogosphere?I recently read an interview with Sam Storms regarding his new book, Signs of the Spirit. As its subtitle reveals, this work is "an interpretation of Jonathan Edwards' Religious Affections." Though he recognizes the enduring nature of Edwards' original, Storms is burdened to 'translate' Edwards for a new generation. Storms confesses that Edwards' thought has greatly impacted him. But he also reveals that Edwards' life has had a similar effect:I don’t know if Edwards would cope well in today’s world. I certainly think most of us wouldn’t have coped well in his world. In any case, he is a standing rebuke to our wasting of time, our trivial pursuits, our failure to redeem each day for God’s glory, our lack of care in what we eat and drink, and our tendency to squander

      Summer Storms
Ok, I guess there can be storms of heat, which we've definitely had the last several days. But what I'm talking about is the kind of storm that you get in the middle of a summer day. Kind of intense, but doesn't usually last very long. Today's was more than kind of intense. It was intense. Back to the beginning, I guess, huh?Anna and I were just finishing up the day at work when we saw some thunderheads had formed. I figured, "No big deal, just a summer storm." Boy was I wrong. I decided to take the interstate because that doesn't go through Pantops and I just didn't feel like dealing with it today. By the time I got to the interstate, it was raining pretty hard and I was wondering if I shouldn't just take 250. It led to Pantops, but I wouldn't be on the interstate in all the rain.I made the mistake of choosing to stick with my first choice (enough choices for you?) and take the interstate. It was the longest five miles I remember from Keswick to Pantops. We were dr

The Storms in the UK, and “Flooding” Road Signs
Bloody hell, the weather has been rough lately, hasn’t it? Basically, were suffering very unseasonal weather in the UK at the moment, with floods in some areas of the country. I think everywhere in the UK has seen a lot of rain in the past few days. It’s not global warming, oh no, it’s god telling us to cancel Wimbledon for the vain UK hope, television ruining, most pointless “sport” in the history of the world. There were some casualties in the family due to the weather. My mum, who has never flown, decided that she didn’t want to spend her first trip on a plane (which was today) with a hell of a lot of turbulence, so cancelled her short break to Milan. Being in a similar position and still being a little apprehensive of flying even now, I can’t say I blame her. I can blame her for going to Chester with both my brothers, and going to the fabulous Temple Bar. The bastards. They do the nicest curry there, and spent the day drinking and playing i
