Here's an update to my Storm posts. I had made peace with the dead pixels on my Blackberry Storm. I did this by looking at the phone as a tool and not as a source of joy. In other words, I matured. I actually felt bad for RIM and Verizon too, having to give one dude four phones.
So, I went to the Verizon store to activate my wife's new Samsung SCH-U740, the Alias. I started a conversation with c

Sorry for the lack of updates - my home suburb, The Gap, has been ravaged by storms in the last week. A storm is coming, the BlackBerry Storm, RIM's first touchscreen phone. It'll blow in first from Verizon in an CDMA EV-DO version this fall, although no one is saying exactly when or for how much. A Vodafone version of the Storm, officially the 9530, also makes landfall in Europe, which means there'll likely be a GSM HSDPA 3G Storm-front moving into for the U.S. at some point. So glad Gustav wasn't as bad as it could have been. I know it has been frustrating for those who had to leave their homes when it turned out not to be so bad, but there was significant damage to utilities and the threat was real. Better to be safe than sorry. We have to learn from history and sometimes, yes, we do over react. But no one ever wants to see another event like Katrina! It's easy for me

Folks, I covered my first mixed martial arts event last weekend in Fairfax, Va. It's a little different from the baseball fare, but yet was exciting to see. It's not for the faint of heart.***It’s needless to say these days that the sport of mixed martial arts is on the rise and is part of the lexicon of the American sports landscape. In fact, it would probably be a gross understatement. On Saturday, the mixed martial arts world came to the Washington Metropolitan region as the Ultimate Warrior Challenge‘s “Invasion” was held at the Patriot Center on the campus of George Mason University. The event was only the second ever held at the Patriot Center, and drew a little under 5,000 people in spite of rainy conditions outside. The crowd was uniquely diverse, almost all adult; however

Well yeah. It's easy to thank and praise God when times are good and things are dandy but can we praise Him in the storm. We are facing some challenges in our business this quarter and everyday, I pray with faith that a miracle will come our way and we'll hear good news for our biz. Sometimes I feel like God is saying 'Be Patient' and other times, I wonder if He's going to put us through a tough test. Waiting is never easy and no one likes to wait. We are by nature impatient and we want things done NOW, FAST and INSTANTLY. So, it's a test of our faith now - waiting, trusting and having faith - even in the midst of the storms of life.

If Australia was a nightmare for Ferrari, Malaysia was a dream. Kimi Raikkonen toyed initially with polesitting team mate Felipe Massa, took the lead after their first pit stops, and sauntered into the distance to a victory that puts him back into contention for a second world title.Massa blotted his copybook by spinning out of an easy second place on the 31st lap, leaving Robert Kubica to take an excellent runner-up result for BMW Sauber. In the closing laps, though 22 seconds adrift, the Pole set a similar pace to Raikkonen.Heikki Kovalainen was McLaren’s leading runner in a distant third place, a similar distance in arrears. For Lewis Hamilton, it was a race spent playing catch-up. He made a great start to jump from ninth up to fifth place behind the Ferraris, Kubica and similarly fast

She further upset them by taking a free bag with expensive items on her way out. The event was quickly forgotten when Hilton came in with her new boyfriend Benji Madden. It seems the groundhogs are in agreement. Punxsutawney Phil and Wiarton Willie are both predicting six more weeks of winter. We had another storm of grand, snowy proportions yesterday, and I suspect the famous rodents are excellent prognosticators and we can expect to need our woolies for some time to come! For the past several days, going back to last weekend. There has been a “Parade of storms” moving out of Texas and the Gulf States into the Northeast. Most notably was the damage from ice storms earlier in the week through Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska leaving hundreds of thousands of people without power and causing widespread damage. We only had the threat of ice and freezing rain Saturday night into Monday Morning. Since then here in Erie and most of region just saw rain on Tuesday.
These series of storms have been riding along the Jet Stream, which could be considered a very fast moving highway of air that guide and steer storms across the United States and even the world. This “Parade of Storms” is not done yet.
The next storm moves into the lower Great Lakes and the Northeast. We have a Winter Storm Warning for Erie, Crawford Counties in Pennsylvania from 5am to 6pm Thursday as well as Chautauqua County in New York. Winter Weat

That is perhaps the benefit of bringing these calamities to homes. People are interested. Take a look some more and you will see, the underlying factor is trying to look for the origin of it all. Global warming and climate change have a hand in it for sure.

My parting gift to Frances and George was two bulbs of garlic and about 900g of sugar. Being alone, and wanting to travel light, a single bulb and 100g of sugar were more than enough, but it's impossible to buy in such small quantities. I hope they appreciated the generous donation anyway.I filled up on baguette, jam, warm croissants, coffee and orange juice at breakfast. I was running dangerously low on porridge supplies and had yet to see any in the shops, but Frances assured me that it was available in some larger supermarkets, and should become more available as I got further south. One of the topics of discussion the previous evening had been the Puy-de-Dôme, a huge dormant volcano in the Auvergne region.
