I’m trying to remember, but I think The Savage Brothers is, with the exception of Hero Squared, the finest thing Boom!’s put out. Savage Brothers is an absurdist, post-zombie apocalypse comedy with a heart (and some serious Star Wars rips). I can’t remember, but I don’t think the third issue ever came out as a floppy, so the collection is the first time to get it whole (again, might be totally wrong). Having only read the first issue previously and being impressed by Rafael Albuquerque’s art and the writing–Savage Brothers, I suspect, was a TV pitch, maybe a script treatment–but Albuquerque’s art really paces it well.The Savage Brothers is a sitcom comic, which seems to be the genre of choice among independents these days (at least as neither of the big two do any), and it’s light on the more sincere artistic intentions… but it’s comfortable with its lack of ambition. A report blaming an earthquake for a 2006 mud volcano eruption in Indonesia stoked a dispute on Tuesday about whether a gas drilling well or geology caused the disaster that engulfed thousands of homes.Scientists say they may never find the exact trigger for the continuing eruption of noxious-smelling mud from the ground in East Java that has engulfed an area four times the size of Monaco and forced about 15,000 people to leave.Lapindo disputes that its drilling was the trigger. "The available data supports the hypothesis that the initial activity ... was mainly triggered by the energy released by the 27th of May earthquake and not by the drilling," according to report by a team of scientists based in Norway, Russia, France and Indonesia. Despite the fact that Japan has some of the lowest rates of auto theft in the entire developed world, Honda is introducing an on-board navigation feature which will alert drivers when they park near reported crime hotspots. The system will automatically route information about criminal activity from police computers to participating navigation systems, providing news of recent thefts, damaged vehicles and break-ins. The system will also rate districts by risk levels, telling drivers which vehicular crimes have afflicted the immediate area. Honda has not announced whether the system will be offered outside of Japan. For now US motorists will only be able to monitor the police wirelessly. Priorities.
