Bachmann's Idea of Stewardship of The Earth
by Dave MindemanThere are many obstacles to solving the issue of global warming. There is the need for fuel efficiency in the auto industry. There is the need to find a solution for the best source of alternative fuels. There is the need to halt the destruction of the rain forest. Some Thoughts on Stewardship
As we celebrate our abode’s very first year today, we are reminded that first of all, God is faithful. The second thing that came to my mind is stewardship. As a family, how are we doing as stewards of what He has entrusted us.   One year ago today, all we did was [...]

      Prayer for Stewardship of Creation
O merciful Creator, thy hand is open wide to satisfy the needs of every living creature: Make us, we beseech thee, ever thankful for thy loving providence; and grant that we, remembering the account that we must one day give, may be faithful stewards of thy good gifts; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with thee and the Holy Spirit liveth and reigneth, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.Source: Book of Common Prayer 1979

      Financial Stewardship
and the borrower is servant to the lender. Proverbs 22:7 God's Word commands us to be good stewards of our finances. Dave Ramsey and other Christian financial advisers speak on this topic. They refer to it as grandma's common sense advice. More appropriately it's a Great Depression mentality. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. The advice continues with prepare for the worst, and pray for the

Discussion ?: Driving and Environmental Stewardship
I was going to write a post on this, but I decided I’d rather post some links and quotes and hopefully generate some discussion on the topic. Here’s the quick summary. I want to be a environmental steward of my resources and I want to be a fair consumer of the earth’s resources. There’s all kinds of talk about global warming these days and choosing more sustainable and energy efficient lifestyle choices. There’s also criticism arising about those things. I want to hit two areas briefly. Global Warming and then more specifically, choice of vehicle. First, global warming. Al Gore has brought to the forefront of conversation the issue of Global Warming through his movie an inconvenient truth. The critics have returned not only with a critique that just says global warming is a scam, but with a whole response video that explains why the hype about global warming can actually be bad for society and the developing world. They also point out who stands to gain

      What does Stewardship encompass?
The Biblical principle of stewardship of our finances encompasses three separate points. Firstly it relates to good money management. We need to be careful not to squander the resources that God gives to us. We should learn good money management techniques, and learn not to be susceptible to impulse buying. The second aspect of stewardship is related to investing to make the resources that God gives to us grow, so that we can sow more back into the Lord's work. In the parable that Jesus told about the three servants who were given gold coins. Two of them invested the money and gave their master more than He had entrusted them with. The third servant went and buried it for safekeeping - and the master was angry at that servant for not putting the money He had been entrusted to use. The third aspect of stewardship is giving. We have been commanded to "Give tithes and offerings to the Lord". We have been instructed us to be good stewards and to use what God gives us wisely. I beli

Long Island Sound Stewardship Act awaits President's Signature; Sandy Point in West Haven named as stewardship site
According to an article in today's Westport News, Sandy Point in West Haven is named as one of the stewardship sites that would benefit from the $25 million of federal funding. However, the Long Sound Stewardship Act still must be signed by President Bush.According to the article:It is a bill authorizing $25 million in federal funding annually to further the goals of an initiative that includes purchasing land and development rights to properties along the Sound.(...) Linked to the Senate action, environmental officials from Connecticut, New York and the federal government have agreed to designate 33 areas along the Sound's coastline as ecological or recreational assets needing restoration, protection and research -- with 17 of them in Connecticut. They have established a committee to oversee spending $6 million to restore coastal and river habitats on both sides of the Sound. The surprising wording above is about the "purchasing land and development rights" - I'm not certain that

      Stewardship
No, this is not about the Bible, nor is about any organized religion. Though it could be considered somewhat spiritual. However, what this is really about is our own personal responsibility to the world we occupy! What's more though is that it's not only about personal responsibility but its about taking pride in ourselves and our world and all who occupy it. It's being a good steward to our world and all that surround us. Nothing could be more important than this!
