In every case of eczema, inflammation is present. If there is no inflammation, there is no eczema. When skin is inflamed, it takes on a reddish look. This redness comes when the skin's upper and lower levels (dermis and epidermis) become swollen. It is also the inflammation that produces the reactions within the skin that causes itching. Small, red, pus filled bumps also commonly accompany

MLB Enacts New Drug Policy The Mitchell Report made for some fantastic bathroom reading back when it first came out. MLB’s new drug policy, while not as entertaining, is certainly worth reading as well. The new policy starts by letting Jose Guillen and Jay Gibbons off the hook, repealing their 15-game suspensions. The only surprise here is that Jay Gibbons is still on a professional baseball team somewhere. They also decided that the players named in the Mitchell report will not be disciplined. No word on whether or not the players named in Jose Canseco’s new book will get the same protection. There is now an Independent Program Administrator, who will oversee the drug program for a minimum of three years. Not exactly the independent party that some were hoping for, but
The New York Police Department will soon begin randomly testing its 36,000-officer force for steroid abuse, officials said Wednesday. The testing program comes in the wake of allegations that an illegal steroid ring was supplying bodybuilding police officers.Police officials insisted that the decision to test for anabolic steroids -- first reported Wednesday in The New York Post -- doesn't reflect a concern about widespread abuse at the nation's largest police department. Instead, they said they wanted to drive home the point that using steroids without a prescription is illegal.Since the NYPD already tests for narcotics, it "only makes sense to include steroids," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said in a statement. The department plans to begin the urine testing, expected to cost about $1

Steroid chemist Patrick Arnold of Ergopharm testified in San Francisco federal court today in the perjury case against cyclist Tammy Thomas. Pat Arnold said under oath that THG was explicitly created to avoid detection by athletes subject to doping controls. He admitted to selling tetrahydrogestrinone (THG) to Victor Conte of BALCO and directly by mail to Tammy Thomas.THG was also known as “the clear” because it was not detectable at the time Arnold developed it in about 2001.Under questioning by prosecutor Jeff Nedrow, Arnold said, “That’s the primary reason why THG was developed.”Arnold also said, “I believe that Miss Thomas understood full well it was undetectable and that that was its purpose.”He said he believed the cyclist understood the drug had “steroid-like qualiti
In Canseco's new book "Vindicated," the former Bash-Brother says that he introduced the current Yankees third baseman to a steroid dealer, but did not inject him himself.Canseco also claims that A-Rod was constantly trying to sleep with his wife, a former Hooters girl. From Joe Lavin via Deadspin: As for Alex Rodriguez, Canseco says he didn't inject Rodriguez, but that he "introduced Alex to a known supplier of steroids." Canseco didn't mention Rodriguez in the first book because he "hated the bastard." He was worried that people would have "questioned [his] motives" had he included Rodriguez. Why all the hatred, you ask. Well, Canseco claims that A-Rod was trying to sleep with Canseco's wife. Apparently, even after Canseco had been nice enough to help A-Rod find a friendly steroids supp

A lot of Internet-based bodybuilding message boards contain questions regarding the use of anabolic-androgenic steroids. These forums are popular due to the widespread and secretive nature of steroid use in competitive sports and physical exhibition. Unfortunately, many trainees can not seek advice from their physician for fear of prosecution.

It is a known reality that drug use exists in sports, as well as within the general non-competitive populace. Today, steroid use greatly involves three classes of people: those looking to boost athletic performance, those simply wishing to alter their body composition for a more muscular and lean physique and older men in search of [...]

Let’s wrap up this week’s look at steroid-induced osteoporosis by covering
what your treatment options are if you already have steroid-induced
osteoporosis.
If you’ve learned you have osteoporosis and you are currently taking
steroids, it’s important to take the lowest dosage possible for the shortest
amount of time necessary in order to prevent bone loss.
Proper supplements can help treat or prevent early bone loss if you have
been diagnosed with steroid-induced osteoporosis. Please remember bone tissue is
made of several minerals with calcium. Calcium alone really will not work. In
previous writings you learned that calcium was regulated by vitamin D,
calcitonion, and parathyroid hormone. Vitamin D, PTH, and calcitonion influence
the absorption of both calcium and
We know from our previous discussions that osteoporosis is a weakening of
the bones. It makes bones thinner, more brittle, and easier to fracture.
And we generally see osteoporosis in men and women with certain risk
factors:
Over 65 years of age
Caucasian or Asian decent
Thin or small builds
Family history
Early menopause
Scoliosis
So how can steroids cause osteoporosis?
A study is currently being conducted to determine if using Elidel to treat atopic eczema could prevent the development of allergic asthma, rhinitis and hay fever later in life. It is estimated that 80% of children with atopic eczema will eventually develop asthma etc.The theory is that by protecting the skins barrier through early treatment of eczema, there is less likelihood of allergens penetrating into the skin and setting of immune responses.Elidel is currently the only FDA approved non-steroid treatment for atopic dermatitis or eczema. It doesn’t have the side effects of the comparative steroid creams.Source: Summary of medical news story as reported by Medical News Today, from Club note: Please read our prevous posts on the use of Elidel as topical immunomodulator to treat eczema.
If you have an inflammatory condition, chances are your doctor has
prescribed steroids for you. Steroids like prednisone are great for reducing
inflammation.
And….even though the side effects from steroids can vary greatly, they
generally go away quickly once the dosage is lowered or stopped.
But….many people who are prescribed steroids by their doctors for their
inflammatory conditions have no idea of the serious dangers and lasting effects
that come with taking steroids at high dosages and for long periods of time. It
does have a lasting negative affect on scoliosis curves.
When you buy a new car or other consumer product, you expect to get what you pay for…you expect to not have to sue the car manufacturer under a Texas Lemon Law claim. You make your decision based on specifications and advertisements produced by the manufacturers and distributors. You evaluate your options and consider [...]
By: iSteroids Anabolic steroids are the synthetic derivatives of testosterone. They help in triggering up the growth of tissues and bones. These drugs can help in the growth of muscle tissues, bones, and genitals. They can also help to improve appetite. Anabolic steroids have been used for different medical purposes since 1930s when they were first developed. These drugs are also called steroid hormones or hormone drugs. Anabolic steroids have many androgenic and anabolic properties, which help to raise the tissue amount and metabolize body fat in human bodies. Thus, these drugs, also called anabolic-androgenic steroids, are extensively used by body building enthusiasts. These drugs have actually become the favorites of the jocks. Anabolic steroids are being produced in bulks nowadays. There are numerous types of anabolic steroids available in the market, which include Accutane, Clenbuterol, Cytomel, HCG, Clomid, Nolvadex, Proviron, Arimidex, Caverject, Viagra, Silagra, Propecia, Testo
With the economy tumbling rapidly into recession, the country at war on two continents, the dollar shrinking like a cheap T-shirt, the pregnancy of Jamie Lynn Spears, our borders leaking like a sieve, and a president who fancies himself a king, it was so good to see Congress taking on the issue of steroids in professional baseball. Last week Senator George Mitchell released his report on the use of steroids and other performance enhancing drugs in Major League Baseball. Eighty-six players and former players were tagged as druggies.America, of course, was aghast. At first I thought the reaction was much like that of Inspector Louis Renault in Casablanca, who was so outraged to find gambling going on in Bogie's bar.But I honestly think a lot of people were genuinely shocked. Apparently, they thought the players' morph into pure muscle heads was the result of regular exercise and the daily consumption of Wheaties.Perhaps some had their suspicions, but when an actual Senator says it is

They were not joking when they said the Mitchell Report on steroids in baseball had a veritable All-Star team. Here they are in all their glory. Of course you need back-ups in case any of these guys rips an artery during one of their multiple daily workouts.

The Baltimore Sun reported that one after day a grand jury indicated all-time home run leader Barry Bonds, an Illinois congressman said Friday that he will hold a hearing on the use of performance-enhancing drugs in baseball and other sports.
Rep. Bobby Rush, chairman of a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee, said he plans to convene the hearing when Congress returns from its winter recess early next year.
"Given recent developments, the impending Mitchell report and reports of widespread abuse in professional wrestling, I believe it's time we get a formal update on what progress is being made to eradicate steroids from all sports and sports entertainment," Rush, a Democrat, said in a

Boston, MA (ABSP) - Associated BS PressDavid Ortiz, star slugger for the World Series contending Boston Red Sox, was recently linked to the ongoing steroid investigation by Major League Baseball. "Big Papi" as he is known to his bookie and legions of fans and hookers, had often hinted at his own steroid use, but evidence had always been lacking. Recent sperm tests by Bud Selig have confirmed that the previously hyper-fertile Ortiz has actually become completely infertile. Additional genital-sizing tests conducted by Erin Andrews have proven that the slugger's testicles - once reknowned for their impressive girth, weight, and command of the English language - have shrunken to the size of small raisins. Ortiz has vehemently denied the veracity of this new report, releasing a statement that said, "nobody has done nothing to none of my body."Sources close to Major League Baseball indicate that Ortiz had long been a focus of their investigation due to his close association with Red Sox

We interrupt this regularly scheduled series of posts on running technique for this breaking news...Last week the Drug Enforcement Administration of the USA wrapped up a series of raids on drug labs in a number of states. The numbers? Over 800,000 doses of steroids were confiscated from one home in New York. There were other seizures in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and in the midwest. WADA currently is seeking information from the agents so that they can cross check any names in the investigation against the names of current athletes, and it appears that the federal agents are more than willing to cooperate with the anti-doping agency on this. After the four days of raids, the operation, called "Raw Deal," shut down 26 labs and arrested over 50 individuals. The raids were the final push in a larger probe that in total made 124 arrests, closed 56 labs in 27 states, and seized $6.5 million and 240 kg of raw steroid powder.Anyone out there still think that the drug problem in sports is u
A while ago we documented the exploits of San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman as he addressed the media regarding his steroid suspension. There was a lot of double talk, wherein Merriman tried to earn credibility by admitting his guilt before turning around and decrying the drug manufacturer, telling us all that he was not a cheater, and-most hilariously-repeating the line, "It could happen to anyone."Now we have Rick Ankiel, a week ago the most inspirational story in baseball this year, today a prime suspect in the ongoing steroid investigation. Ankiel allegedly received HGH from a Florida-based pharmacy under the scope of a steroid investigation. You would think that being named in such a report would be bad enough for a player's PR. But if we've learned anything from this whole steroid mess, it's that the players don't sully their reputations by doing steroids nearly as much as they do while addressing the media after they get caught. Below are some of Ankiel's and Ca
A law enforcement investigation of a Florida-based steroid distribution ring has led to the suspension of 10 World Wrestling Entertainment performers and, according to prosecutors, has uncovered links to Major League Baseball and National Football League players.WWE suspended the wrestlers after prosecutors in Albany County, N.Y., told the Stamford, Conn.-based firm that they had found the names of 14 wrestlers on client lists of clinics with links to a Florida drug distribution company.According to media reports, three of the 14 wrestlers who allegedly had been Signature clients since 2003 are dead: Guerrero, Benoit and former WWE wrestler Brian "Crush" Adams, who died Aug. 13. A fourth wrestler has left the WWE. The 10 others named have been suspended for 30 to 60 days for violating the WWE's anti-drug policy, which prohibits wrestlers from obtaining drugs over the Internet or from a doctor who is not their primary physician.read more | digg story
As you will now probably be aware WWE has now suspended 11 superstars and reportedly fired Simon Dean over steroid use. Well one of it's biggest performers from its history has spoken about the situation in an interview with Fox Sports.com so I thought I'd post a few of his comments. On Steroids In WWE In light of World Wrestling Entertainment's latest steroid scandal, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson said he hopes the company continues to lay the smackdown on performers who are using muscle-building drugs. Johnson, though, wasn't happy to hear that the sports entertainment industry where he thrived before shifting his acting skills full-time to Hollywood is continuing to struggle with the steroid issue."Clearly, there has to be an aggressive educational program put in place," Johnson said. "These guys have to be armed with the knowledge and understanding of how bad these drugs are and the dangers of mixing these drugs with the lifestyles they lead."On Chris Benoit"I was b
OK folks, you can file this under “You’ve got to be kidding me”. And I wish I was making this up. Josh Peter of Yahoo Sports! is reporting that former Cleveland Browns quarterback Tim Couch has allegedly used anabolic steroids and human growth hormone (HGH), both banned by the National Football League. Documents that were obtained by Yahoo! Sports outline that Couch had a regimen that called for usage of both substances; they were obtained by a source who requested to remain anonymous stating safety concerns. What is known about this source is that he is a former associate of a principal in this Tim Couch saga.
The principal in question is one Brian Yusem, a “self-styled” nutritionist based out of Boca Raton, FL who has been working with Couch since January 2006. When asked about the documents in question, Yusem proclaimed the documents as worthless and further added, “Just because somebody prints something and says this is the

Well, once again the steroid issue is of great importance in the world of baseball. Afraid of another potential government inquiry of MLB, George Mitchell made it known to owners, "lack of cooperation with his investigation into steroid use will "significantly increase' the chances of government involvement" Basically, baseball has been warned to either cooperate in a probe to study drug use or the government will get involved. Speaking to owners at baseball's quarterly meetings, Mitchell said he intends to interview active players and raised the possibility that Congress or other government authorities could compel players, owners and officials to once again appear before a congressional committee. As I figured when I heard the news last year, not much was going to happen. Without subpoenas, you cannot force player or anyone to testify and cooperation is voluntary. I think the silence and the latest decree by George Mitchell says a lot. From what I see, a
According to IMDB.com, Sylvester Stallone was stopped and detained by customs officials in Australia, due to the fact that the X-ray detected suspicious substance in his luggage. The item in question is alleged at this point to be a type of human growth hormone. Stallone was in Sydney for Rocky Balboa's premiere. Unfortunately, this incident forced Stallone to miss the film's premiere. Just three days after confiscating illegal substances at the airport, the Australia authorities searched Stallone's room at Park Hyatt hotel and his private jet for more illegal substances. It was alleged that when the Australia authorities arrived at Stallone's room, Stallone and his entourage were "seen throwing things out the windows of their hotel room".
