I’ve written before about having an open mind (and recommended the book MINDSET by Carol Dweck). As it’s such an important topic, I wanted to revisit it again. Most of us probably have a standard response to things we don’t want to do – NO (if we can get away without doing those things). Yet if you’re in high school, college or your first job – you might want to consider saying yes to

FIND A NEED AND FILL ITMost marketers make the mistake of finding a product before they have a market. But unless people are actively searching for your product online, you’ll never make a sale. The trick is to find a group of people with a common problem they’re trying to solve and then solve it.After you’ve done this, use what you’ve learned to create a product for a market that already exists — and do it better than your competitors.WRITE SALES COPY THAT SELLSOn a website, your copy has to do the selling for you. There’s a proven formula for writing sales copy that’ll take visitors through the selling process from the moment they arrive: Arouse interest with a compelling headline, describe the problem your product can solve, show them why you can be trusted to solve the pr

Alistair Darling’s shake-up of the tax disc system introduces a one-off “showroom” tax to encourage car buyers to choose less polluting models.
It also nearly doubles the number of tax bands to 13 as a further incentive to fuel efficiency.
However, the changes were last night criticised by both car makers and environmentalists, who said they would do little to cut carbon dioxide emissions.
Motoring groups also warned Mr Darling that families needing large cars would be hit, while Friends of the Earth Scotland said postponing the fuel duty increase had left “all icing, no cake”.

Below are excerpts of a thread from Kung Fu Magazine's Forum. Although some of the terms are different, I thought it was a good read.
First of all, different Wing Chun lineages use somewhat different terminology sometimes, so here goes my take on "triangle stepping":
To visualize it, superimpose a triangle parallel to the floor in between you and your opponent. You stand at the point, he stands
It is almost gardening season, so why not make garden stepping stones that you can sell. Sell them at flea markets, farmers markets, online, and more. I think that stepping stones are so neat and you can decorate them with colored glass or make them anyway you can. You could make some of sports teams, neat sayings, animals, etc. You can get a lot of information for making stepping stones homemade. They are not too hard to make and you could make some extra money this spring and summer with them.

A few weeks ago, President Bush signed a deal (essentially a treaty), called a "Declaration of Principles for Friendship and Cooperation” with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki which guarantees long-term United States military protection for al-Maliki and his government in return for permanent military bases and "investment opportunities" for President Bush.It took a while, but six Democratic Senators have sent President Bush a letter reminding him that he may not promise indefinite protection for Prime Minister Maliki without the approval of Congress.Part of the letter reads:We believe a security commitment that obligates the United States to go to war on behalf of the Government of Iraq at this time is not in America's long-term national security interest and does not reflect the will of the American people. Commitments made during the final year of your Presidency should not unduly or artificially constrain your successor when it comes to Iraq. It's nice to see that Congress
Thats what I did yesterday in the gym! Altho it wasn’t 1 level! It seemed to be 2 levels that I stepped it up, and for that I am quite impressed, to say I had next to no sleep sunday night, due to my nap in the afternoon, and I was feeling quite knackered, but nothing like visiting the gym to make you feel better and get the adrenaline pumping haha! Other than that there appears to be very little to report in my sad and twisted little world!

I heard from many people about my last post, Passion Makes a Life. Some expressed how bored and stuck they are and feel it’s too late for them to make changes to have a more satisfying life. I hear it all the time—all the reasons conjured up for not making steps to become happier. Excuses—Excuses—Excuses—Excuses—Excuses—ExcusesIt’s easy to make excuses! Taking steps forward is the hard part. I stagnated for years when I was too scared to make a move and convinced myself that was the way my life was, and would continue to be. The thought of change can be scary. Actually making the change seems even scarier. So you stagnate like I did. Wishing—hoping—dreaming. And lamenting that you can’t get off your butt to get out of the rut. None of this bring happiness or satisfaction. Passion does!Staying in a boring or unhappy place shreds your self-esteem—and happiness. The bad news: Rarely will someone take you by the hand and walk you out of your rut. All those wishes wil
Stepping on ducksThree women die together in an accident and go to heaven. When they get there, St. Peter says, We only have one rule here in heaven: don't step on the ducks! So they enter heaven, and sure enough, there are ducks all over the place. It is almost impossible not to step on a duck, and although they try their best to avoid them, the first woman accidentally steps on one. Along comes St. Peter with the ugliest old man she ever saw. St. Peter chains them together and says, Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this ugly man!The next day, the second woman steps accidentally on a duck and along comes St. Peter, who doesn't miss a thing. With him is another extremely ugly man. He chains them together with the same admonishment as for the first woman. The third woman has observed all this and, not wanting to be chained for all eternity to an ugly man, is very, VERY careful where she steps. She manages to go months without stepping on any ducks, b
Arsene Wenger's undeniable genius was enough to earn him a contract extension until the 2010/11 season, and it's not hard to see why the Arsenal board were happy to keep him at the club. Under Wenger's tutelage, Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, and Robert Pires were all transformed from struggling players into terrifying French wonders. However, Wenger doesn't do everything right, and many Arsenal fans thought that Mathieu Flamini was one of his few mistakes. When Arsenal signed the 20 year-old midfielder from Marseille, he had only featured in 14 games for the team, and while he was unproven, the club had faith in Wenger, and expected great things of his new signings.Fast forward two years to last season. Flamini was still seeing some time on the field, but many criticized his performances, applauding only his incredible work-rate. Flamini was a good squad player, but no more, and many were disappointed by him. This season, however, it seems that Flamini is finally stepping up. Maybe

Have you seen that movie where Jennifer Lopez played a wedding planner for one of the biggest wedding planning businesses in San Francisco? While this movie may seem way too much, the job of a wedding planner is actually very real. There are people out there who do make a decent living setting up weddings for couples. Especially those who do not have an inkling as to how they are supposed to make their special day become a reality.Entering the wedding planning business is no easy task. But if other people can do it, then so can you. Start off with an outline of what most weddings will need. Making a list of the essential elements of a wedding will help you map out what your next moves should be. Then start assembling your price listings for certain wedding packages. And start canvassing for the needs that come with a wedding planning business. It will be necessary to establish contacts with reputable florists, bakers, churches, reception venues, caterers, dress and gown designers and tu
Behaviour To Climb The Stepping Stones To Career Success For Solid Career Building(Lowongan Kerja Online) - This "fruit for thought" article is for all human beings, who somehow find themselves in the role of breadwinner and striving to improve their living standards. The heading of this article could just as well have been "How to position yourself for promotion" or "How to position yourself for career advancement" or "How to climb the success ladder" or something similar.Career success for solid career building depends on excellent work performance, combined with good work ethics. A linking pin is someone to whom everybody turns to, to get information and advice from.It is also someone who can link persons, sections and departments for better co-operation. But most important of all, it is someone who can exert influence upwards, downwards and sideways in the organisa

As I have said before when the Bush administration talks tough on immigration enforcement, Ill believe it when I see it. They have talked tough in the past and it was all smoke, mirrors, and lies. I really expect this to be the same. New day, same BS. ~RJH MyWay News story Govt. Stepping Up Immigration Efforts Aug 9, 8:14 PM (ET)By SUZANNE GAMBOAWASHINGTON - The Bush administration plans to step up immigration enforcement by raising fines on employers who hire undocumented workers, overhauling temporary worker programs and speeding up deployment of border agents, according to a summary of the plans. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez planned to announce broad immigration changes at a news conference Friday. Some of the initiatives are similar to proposals contained in recent immigration legislation, although they are not nearly as sweeping as the bill that failed to pass the Senate. After more than 10 months of waiting, finally University life is commencing.First, it was the Qualifying English Test (QET) for those who didn't obtain B4 and above for General Paper. After months of losing contact with the language, I was in for a pleasant surprise when I achieved Grade 5 - the highest grade. Yeah!Second, it was matriculation day. After receiving the matriculation card aka student card, I visited the CCA booths upstairs. There was a whole lot of CCAs in NUS. It's a bit of a distance between both locations so much of my time has been occupied with driving and sitting in traffic.I don't know about anyone else in this world but when I'm driving I'm in la-la land. Some of my craziest, kookiest ideas happen during this time. That's how I came up with this experiment.I'm also very guilty of having conversations with myself as I drive.I don't know why.Half the time I don't even realize I'm doing it.I tend to become aware that I am having a full on conversation with myself when I stop at red lights and notice the person in the car next to me.All of a sudden I get real self conscious and will pretend I'm talking on my cell phone so the person in the car next to me doesn't think I'm totally nuts. But I do have a bit of the "Nut" factor in me.I'm okay with that...it makes my life more interesting and at times very chaotic. So I'm ha
