Volume two of Stephen King's seven part "Dark Tower" series is a very different beast to volume one. This is a good thing, as I found that the first book tried to hard to be an epic. You can read my review of that here.
In volume two, Roland, the Last Gunslinger finds three doors into other places and people. The book is entirely set on a seemingly endless beach. The beach that the Gunslinger

Horror genres number one go to guy Stephen King, is discussing(protecting even) gamers rights and ridiculousness of these bills to stop minors from obtaining video games deemed violent. He also points out, today a 17 year old kid can see movies such as Hostel II or any of the Saw series and thats OK, but when he picks up a game less violent then those, it calls for a new law.a Worthy Quoting from what King says on Entertainment Weekly:"If HB 1423 becomes law, will it remain law? Doubtful. Similar legislation has been declared unconstitutional in several states. Could Massachusetts legislators find better ways to watch out for the kiddies? Man, I sure hope so, because there's a lot more to America's culture of violence than Resident Evil 4.What really makes me insane is how eager politician

CHICAGO – It’s just a twist of fate, of course. I know the CGI wizards at The Weinstein Co. can’t command the weather in the real word, too. But – wow – what providence. The mist in Chicago on Nov. 20, 2007.Photo by Adam Fendelman, HollywoodChicago.comPerhaps the mistiest day of the year in Chicago came this Monday, which is exactly one day after I screened “The Mist”. I snapped the unaltered, almost zero-visibility photo below directly out of my condo window from 25 stories above street level. To make matters even more eerie, apparently the same mist blanketed Los Angeles on Monday. That’s auspicious publicity if I’ve ever seen it.Even before the real-world dusting, “The Mist” – which is based on a Stephen King novella and is directed by Frank Darabont (“The Shawshank Redemption,” “The Green Mile”) – already had a healthy hype machine. While Darabont stayed true to much of King’s story, he entirely ejected the master storyteller’s ending out the win
In what could be the best Stephen King quote ever, I heard word Tuesday morning that he said the following at a press conference on Monday about “The Mist,” which is based on his novella:(Director) Frank (Darabont) (“The Green Mile,” “The Shawshank Redemption”) wrote a new ending [I love]. It is the most shocking ending ever. There should be a law passed stating that anybody who reveals the last five minutes of this film should be hung from their neck until dead. The statement is designed to both be a blessing of the film adaptation as well as a chilling message to anyone who dares to give away the film’s ending.Starring Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden, Andre Braugher, Laurie Holden, Toby Jones, William Sadler, Frances Sternhagen and Jeffrey DeMunn, “The Mist” opens on Nov. 21.

Stephen King’s The Mist is due to be released in theatres on 11/21. I am a Stephen King fan and I am eager to see this movie. I remember reading his books as a kid. I think the first one I ever read was Cujo. That book gave me many a sleepless night. Then I read Pet Semetary which again gave me many sleepless nights. I was in a sleep deficit throughout high school. I am not saying it is all Stephen King’s fault but he played a part in it. When they were released as movies I made sure to watch them to see how well they translated. They usually did a pretty good job. I just watched 1408 on DVD and I really liked that movie. It was more suspense and anticipation. I was always waiting for something to happen. Sure it had its scary moments and some gore but it reminded me of a Twilight Zone episode and I love the Twilight Zone. In his newest movie The Mist by Stephen King a group of people are trapped inside a local grocery store by a mist that en
Today I picked up my son from school and he showed me his newest background on his cellphone; the clown from Stephen King's "It". Evil looking thing! (Which BTW I have read that they will be remaking that movie in 2009! Something to look forward to!). So many of Stephen King's novels and short stories have been made into films and my personal opinion is that whether or not the stories

Peter Lynn's Homework Peter Lynn works for the General Medical Council. Infact, I knew nothing of Peter Lynn until March 2003. There are though times in my life that I wish I didn't have the pleasure of running into people with a taste for the dark side of humanity. Peter though is a cold, calculated GMC investigator. He is also incompetent but then he has no insight into this. I had made a subject access request under the Data Protection Act in March 2003 to the General Medical Council expecting very little. It was done more out of curiosity than anything else. At the time, I had drawn a line under Ward 87 North Staffordshire NHS Trust and moved on with life. The GMC bundle arrived while I worked at Northampton shire NHS Trust. At the time, I lived in a little town called Lowick known as the Highway Man's stop. The Trust had given me a small cottage outside a pub called the Snooty Fox. The night was dark and I had just settled down to read another Stephen King book. I have of cours
This week is an exciting one for the Harvard Bookstore. They're hosting some really great folks at various locations to discuss their new books.First off, on Monday 10/15, Gary Kasparov will be at the First Parish Church Meetinghouse at 7pm to discuss his new book "How Life Imitates Chess." You know Mr. Kasparov from his chess exploits, but if you've been reading the news lately, you'll know that he recently decided to run for President in Russia. Click (here) for details. Second, on Tuesday 10/16, Stephen King will be in town to host a forum with other authors that contributed to "The Best American Short Stories 2007." This event is being held at the Memorial Church at 7pm. Unforunately the website says that this event is sold out, but who knows maybe people will be scalping tickets. Click (here) for more details and a list of the other notable authors that will be attending. Wow, I'm going to stop typing now because I just clicked the "more events" button on the Harvard Boo

I was just a boy when Stephen King released the now famous Monkey Shines short story collection. If my memory serves me well I asked a babysitter at least a dozen times to read of her copy. Eventually I got my paws on the book. I ended up reading it front to back but only clearly remember reading one short story - It was called, "The Mist." And it was one of the down-to-earth yet scariest tale I had read. It was a story about irrational fear and human tendencies - you only got glancing descriptions of the monsters outside in the supernatural fog. It was too much for a little kid to read, so I read it twice. The Book That Stirred My Soul: Twenty-Seven years later the story has been adapted into a brand new movie, set to be released on November 21st. The story is the same - but these modern times can finally support the special effects necessary to make the movie! Supernatural ethereal blindness, fear and death are outside. Those inside are trapped - with each other. You had better bet I
The mist is adapted from the master of horror, Stephen King. The story itself published in 1985 as part of Stephen King’s short story collection “Skeleton Crew”. The Mist is directed by Three-time Oscar®-nominee Frank Darabont (”The Green Mile,” “The Shawshank Redemption”). The story takes place at small town where a thick mist engulfs the area, killing those caught in its darkness. Apparently there is a creature prowling in a thick and unnatural mist. Local rumors point to an experiment called the ‘The Arrowhead Project’ conducted at a nearby top-secret military base, but questions as to the origins of the deadly vapor are secondary to the group’s overall chances for survival. David Drayton an artist and some of the survivors retreating to a local supermarket and try to survive and stand against an enemy they cannot even see!

The new trailer for The Mist has certainly redeemed Darabont from the early footage shown. It seems he utilized both extensive set-ups and steadicam for the film. The trailer is very impressive and features Clint Mansell’s score from The Fountain soundtrack.
The upcoming horror adaptation of Stephen King’s The Mist is written and directed by three-time Oscar-nominee Frank Darabont (The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption). It stars Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden, Andre Braugher, Laurie Holden, Toby Jones, William Sadler, Frances Sternhagen and Jeffrey DeMunn and opens on November 21.After a violent storm attacks a town in Maine, an approaching cloud of mist appears the next morning. As the mist quickly envelops the area, a group of people get trapped in a local grocery store -among them, artist David Drayton and his five-year-old son. The people soon discover that within the mist lives numerous species of horrific, unworldly creatures that entered through an inter-dimensional rift, which may or may not have been caused by a nearby military base. As the world around them manifests into a literal hell-on-earth, the horrified citizens try desperately to survive this apocalyptic disaster.Watch the trailer.
Do I like Stephen King's novels? Yes. Actually the Mist is oe of my favorites. The trailer is really good, so I hope the movie will be great.Release Date: 21 November 2007Starring Thomas JaneDownload:HighMediumLow
No one can say that Stephen King has lost his sense of humor or the love of pulling a good prank. A bookstore owner in the Australian Outback got a glimpse of the man and his personality recently.
Stephen King, the bestselling author, was mistaken for a vandal in the Australian Outback while secretly signing copies of his own thrillers in a book shop, according to local media reports.

Over the years, I've taken a dislike to almost everything that carries the name American Express, especially their former financial services company. But I still have somewhat of a soft spot for their old television commercials because they almost always made me laugh.

Stephen King is one hard guy to please. He is not shy to completely destroy and bash the films made from his stories. We can all say that he pretty much hated Kubrick’s liberal-ish adaption of The Shining. So it must come as a relief to director Mikael Hafstrom to learn that The Horror King really dug his adaptation of 1408.
The Scary Hotel thriller, staring John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson (kick ass duo if I’ve seen one), hits theaters later this month, but Hafstrom wasn’t hesitant to tell Bloody-Disgusting.com that Stephen King was really digging the movie:
“King was very pleased with the film, I’m happy to say. When you are adapting an author, especially one who has been around like he has, it’s very important that he approves. Even though the film contains more story, we are true to heart and soul of the short story.”
When I went to bed last night the previous nights 'interesting' occurances were fresh in my brain. As I turned out the light and snuggled down into the covers I waited to see if there would be any odd happenings but other than a loud crash in the area near my husbands dresser, it was not followed by anything and I fell asleep peacefully. While some readers have commented they wouldn't be able
Stephen King is one of those guys whom many critics, snobbish readers and some writers love to hate. He's certainly had his ups and downs when it comes to his literary output but no one can deny that he's often produced some very good work. Have you ever wondered what his favorite ten books are?1. The Golden Argsoy – edited by Van H. Campbell & Charles Grayson2. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn – Mark Twain3. The Satanic Verses – Salman Rushdie4. McTeague – Frank Norris5. Lord of the Flies – William Golding6. Bleak House – Charles Dickens7. 1984 – George Orwell8. The Raj Quartet – Paul Scott9. Light in August – William Faulkner10. I'm not a very big fan of the horror genre, if at all, and there's only a handful of horror books in comics that I've got any interest in reading. Thus, I really couldn't get enthused about reading the [gushy] news that novelist Stephen King is going to turn his Dark Tower into a comics series. It may not actually be a horror series, but still, given that King has told a tale or two in his career that I found distasteful, that's why I'm really not interested in this either, no matter how much it's sold.Besides, how can one really be excited when seeing how Joe Quesada veers into comedy again:"I think this is sort of like a coming-out party for the comic industry, a way to reach out to the mainstream," said Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada. "We're a very serious art form."Too bad they don't manage it that way.
I read my first Stephen King novel when I was ten or eleven years old. It was Rage, the story of a teenager who takes a gun to high-school—the one novel King has "regretted" publishing. That story never compelled me to take a gun to school. The only thing it compelled me to do was to read as much Stephen King as I could. And I did.I read nearly every word he wrote, sometimes more than once, throughout junior high, high school, and my first couple of years in college. Then I got interested in theology and philosophy and didn't read too much of any kind of fiction for about seven years.Which means that I haven't read most of what King has written since 1994—since Needful Things, in which the devil sets up a collectibles shop in King's fictional Castle Rock (it was pretty good, if I recall). And of what I have read of this body of work—let's call it, Stephen King: 1994-2007—has been depressing.Last year I tried to read Cell, King's zombie novel, and couldn't make it past

BaxleyExecutive produced by Mark Carliner and Stephen KingStephen King's Red Rose is a tale of a haunted mansion that seems to have a life of its own. The horror master wrote the three-part miniseries specifically for the small screen, and as the story begins psychology professor Dr. Joyce Reardon (Travis) is determined to prove that paranormal phenomena exist. She has become obsessed with a Seattle mansion called Rose Red, which was built in 1907 by Seattle oil magnate John P. Rimbauer. The mansion has a history of death and disappearances that began before it was even built, not to mention strange paranormal activity that seems to have stopped several years earlier.Determined to wake up the ghostly activity, Joyce gathers a team of six people with different psychic abilities and arranges a weekend visit to the abandoned mansion courtesy of her boy
Lisey's Story By Stephen King Published by Scribner 528 pages Lisey's Story does not "start out" like most Stephen King books. I'll give you the loud and clear on that. In fact, as I commented to a friend, if a person wasn't a slave- err, I mean fan of The King, a person just might get a little fed up with the beginning of the book and maybe drop it, concluding it to be not worthwhile. That person would be wrong, but anyone who is reading it is probably a King fan to begin with, so they'll know, as I did, that the point, when he gets to it, will be either glorious, terrifying, or, more likely, both. It is two years since Lisey's husband, Scott, has died. She has wrestled with grief and anger, anyone familiar with loss will sympathize. She is only now beginning the arduous task of cleaning his office, with the help of her slightly-off sister. However, the meandering tone set in the beginning of this book could get a little long for some. King trails around, not
