Yes, a little shameless self promotion today. I just uploaded a bunch of beads and such to my Etsy store. I'm cleaning out and getting ready for the new launch of my website. Yes, that is right...a new store, a new site, new colors AND bunches and bunches of new jewelry and art. It gets better though! I am merging my Charming Sam and Amy Steinberg sites in to one and adding a new category called Ephemera. That's right! I have beautiful Paris collage sheets, vintage magic poster sheets, childrens book stuff and tons more. The engineers tell me my site will be done the 1st week of October. I should have everything up and ready by the end of October. Here is a screen shot of the new site as a sneak preview! Oh, and don't forget my Etsy store for a bunch of new beads and jewerly type stuff.
The Comic Worlds of Peter Arno, William Steig, Charles Addams, and Saul Steinberg
As time spreads apart from the early part of the 20th century, we might as well consider it like worlds apart. The artists of the New Yorker in the early inception of the magazine planted and perfected what a New Yorker cartoon was supposed to be. Many will debate what is a true funny cartoon in that magazine. There is a sort of snooty feeling that if you don’t find the gag funny, then you are not educated enough to understand it. If you need time to think about the cartoon, then there is a problem. There are many occasions where you scratch your head and say, "i just don’t get it!". I truly believe the best thing to come out of that bunch of cartoonists was Charles Addams, purely based on originality and wide appeal. This book covers Peter Arno, William Steig and Charles Addams. Sure there was Syd Hoff and many cartoonists that graced the magazine. This book is a trip to a ti
To be honest, I felt like a complete fish out of water when I realized that I was talking with Carol Barbee, executive producer of the show, but also one of the creators and writers, Jon Steinberg. There were some great questions for them, and I’d like to say that I didn’t make a complete fool of myself. A popular commenter’s question here (Hi Grace!) was read by Shaun, even. While they were tight-lipped on spoilers for the Season Finale (You are watching it tonight, aren’t you?), they did give a really wonderful feel for how the show’s focus is going and where it will lead. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing that Jon Steinberg went, “Oh, Amber from Watching Jericho, right?” when I first rang in to the show, though.
As Shaun said, and Carol and Jon tried to impress on all the listeners, if you want to make sure that CBS hears our voice to save Jericho, get on the Official Site, write letters, stand on the rooftop and s
Hi Sky,I happened across your blog post about Fatherjournal and thought I'd drop you a line. Glad to hear you're finding the book interesting. You ask about times Change Press which is more or less defunct, was bought by Michael Sherick in Sebastopol, CA some years ago. I think they've run out of copies of Fatherjournal, but I have copies on hand if you know anyone who's interested in getting a copy. For the record, Dylan is now 35, married, living in Philadelphia, starting a second career as a lawyer. My life has moved in many directions since I wrote Fatherjournal so long ago, mostly related these days to sex as a political issue. I have written a column on sex and gender issues for 15 years, and am now involved in what I have dubbed fine art sexual photography. More on all that, if you're interested, at my website -- www.davidsteinberg.us.Good luck with your blog. I certainly like the topic...take care,DavidThanks for the words David, I am honored that you like this site and look
