Do you know who Ben Stein is? He’s an attorney, political figure, and entertainment personality who served as a speechwriter for President Nixon and President Ford. Later in life, he became an Emmy Award-winning actor, comedian, and game show host. His part of the boring teacher in the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” was recently [...]

Although other primates and many other animals have working memory, the human brain gives our species a unique ability to reason, remember, and build models of the future. Our brain—specifically, the prefrontal cortex—defines our prevailing spirit, distinctive character, talent, aptitude, and inclination. Our genius.

O.k. the Ben Stein interview on Glenn Beck was excellent, nonetheless! If you've never seen him before in a true one on one, Ben is an extremly funny man, (and an exremely intelligent and knowledgable one to boot). Put him in a room with Glenn Beck, and you have some true entertainment!Ben basically just talked about his new movie (which was good by the way, see my review from earlier). Ben also layed out his thoughts on the Global crisis and America's role in current events today. He also discussed his six (count it six!) cats that he owns. I'm with you Beck, that's one too many for me!Overall it was a very great interview from a very intelligent man, I give it an A+!My Review on Ben Stein's Expelled Movie
O.k., so I didn't get a chance to review the Hillary Clinton, Bill O'Reilly interview, (working on another site right now), but here is a very interesting interview happening tonight (maybe even better!). Glenn Beck will be interviewing Ben Stein for a full hour tonight on "Economy, God and Movies". Times should be 7:00 PM, 9:00 and 12:00 AM EST (CNN). I'm looking forward to it.Note: If I get a chance, I will interview this one! Thanks! God Bless!Link
Ben Stein, a former Nixon aide and game-show host, probably best known for his role as a monotone teacher in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” released an anti-evolution documentary recently called, “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed.” The premise, as I understand it, is that those who reject modern biology struggle professionally in the sciences. Kevin Drum recently saw the movie, and reported back that towards the end, the documentary veered into the insane: “Stein spends the final half hour wandering around Dachau and telling us outright that his real motivation for attacking evolution isn’t any real flaw in the theory, but his belief that Darwinism leads directly to Nazi-ism, eugenics, atheism, the breakdown of morals, and mass slaughter. Can
One of the many egregious moments in the new Ben Stein anti-evolution film "Expelled" is the truncation of a quote from Charles Darwin so that it makes him appear to give philosophical ammunition to the Nazis. Hi, Steve Mirsky here. I’m going over our usual one minute. By now, you’ve probably heard of Expelled, the new Ben Stein anti-evolution crockumentary. It officially opens today as I speak, that’s April 18th. Because of my job, I’ve had the misfortune of sitting through this film twice now. As least I was getting paid. The film tries v
Last night I had the honor of finally seeing the new Ben Stein movie, Expelled. I thought it was great and something I had really been hoping to see (after seeing all the great trailers and previews). I think it really revealed a lot of the injustices being done, not just in the academic world, but all throughout society. It was interesting to note that most people when challenged on the ideas of Darwinism (which Ben Stein made very valid points and raised very real questions) not only stumbled, but litteraly became enraged and almost violent.It's interesting to note that a lot of the Darwin theories were adopted and promoted by Nazi Germany (something I had no knowledge of before). Basically, it was promoting, or pushing, natural selection, which I perceived as a means of "playing God

Ben Stein’s “Exposed” has just been released, and media critics and political bloggers everywhere have been weighing in. “Exposed” is a documentary that covers the “suppression and entrenched discrimination” within our “institutions, laboratories and most importantly, in our classrooms.”
Billy Hallowell has this to say, via Urban Conservative:
What many will likely miss are the fine details [...]
As you probably know, a recommendation in contemporary socialization calls for an absence of political and religious chatter, as it is usually leads to severe disagreements. While there are issues that can be independently placed within either political or religious categories, some issues – like evolution and abortion – are fluid, as they meander within [...]
So the anti-god crowd is already going nuts on youtube, filming vulgar rants about ... Ben Stein. Not about defense of Darwin and evolution, but about Ben Stein. Not about the TOPIC, of course, but about Ben Stein and 'creationism propaganda'. Watch the film trailer here. Don't miss this film. I can't wait.--Jimmy Z
Wow... when I saw the preview I was under the impression that it was about the oppressive nature of religion. However, it is the opposite claiming that Darwinism is not open to being questioned. I dont have anything to say about this... I think it is ridiculous to be so confident that we are created by a god. Evolution is our best explanation as of yet... it may change. As Dawkins said... if
By Valerie TaricoBiblical creationism, repositioned as creation science and most recently intelligent design has lost the contest of ideas on all counts: the rules, the criteria and the judging. It doesn't follow the scientific method; it doesn't allow us to explain, predict, and control better; and the jury of relevant experts (aka biologists) keeps returning the same verdict.Now the creationists have taken a new approach that they hope will help them achieve their goal of teaching religious beliefs in our schools as science. That approach can be summed up in one simple word: whining.One week from today, the new movie, Expelled, attempts to turn creationist complaints into mainstream media. Featuring Ben Stein, one of the conservative right's biggest whiners, the film makes several plaint
I love it how Ben Stein thinks that those who believe in God are questioning authority. Once again, you guys are the majority! You guys are the authority! Stop playing the victim card when most people in this country believe in God!Ben Stein actually says that Darwinists are afraid to have their ideas criticized. I'd say all the violence perpetrated by religion over the last few centuries suggest that perhaps those who believe in God are the ones who are afraid of criticism.Really, what does it say that the celebrities recruited for intelligent design are Ben "Bueller Bueller" Stein and Kirk "Growing Pains" Cameron.Now, here's a major pan of this movie coming, from of all place, Fox News:After seeing a new non-fiction film starring Comedy Central’s Ben Stein, you may not only be able to

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary. My confession: I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees. It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away. I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I

The Nanny Diaries turns deadly?:
A Manhattan personal assistant fatally bludgeoned her boss, the well-connected real-estate agent Linda Stein, in the woman’s opulent Fifth Avenue apartment because Ms. Stein “just kept yelling at her,” a law enforcement official said today. The assistant was arrested this morning.
Something some of our hollywood celebs might want to keep in mind if they’re not so nice to their personal assistants. I’ve never understood the logic in being a dick to the person who holds a huge amount of your life in their hands, but it still seems to happen an awful lot. People with assistants will probably be a tad nicer for the next few weeks though once they hear this story.
Linda Stein, the punk-music pioneer turned real-estate broker, was found murdered in her Fifth Avenue penthouse on Tuesday. According to the AP, the medical examiner says an autopsy found that she died from fatal blows to the head and neck. Stein was the original “broker to the stars,” helping turn the sale of fancy real estate in the city into the gossipy, publicity-driven soap opera that it has become today, where we all know, or think we know, which boldfaced name lives where, and how much they paid. A tempestuous, bawdy, funny woman who, through her marriage in to Sire Records founder Seymour Stein (the man who discovered and nurtured Madonna as well as the Talking Heads), transformed herself from a fifth-grade teacher in the Bronx to Ramones manager and international party girl (best friends with Elton John and Studio 54 regular). And then, after she and Stein divorced, she transformed herself again. Like many a divorcée, she got her real-estate license. But she had something
When Nicola Stein asked me to create a new website for her, I didn't have to think too long. For those of you who don't know Nicola, she works in the Harbour Inn in Bowmore and she lives on Islay for about 6 months now. Before that she lived on Arran and spent some years in Russia. As soon as her disc arrived I was intrigued by her work. Nicola creates black and white drawings, some of them influenced by Celtic and Gothic designs, but completely unique to anything I have ever seen. Her art is breathtakingly beautiful and the longer you look at her drawings the more details they show. Some of the drawings are very complex, always in black and white, very symmetrical and all designs begin from the centre of the page and evolve outwards.As of today Nicola's website, www.nicolastein.com is ready and everyone is invited for a closer look. The design is like Nicola's drawings, symmetrical and only black and white. Mark Unsworth from Islay Studios took the picture for the top logo, where
Okay, I'm not political, so this is not a message leaning to the right or left. I do, however, support and appreciate the sacrifice of each and every man and woman fighting our wars for us. This video clip circulated to me via the Internet this morning, and I thought it was great. Now I'm sharing. That said, let me add that I have not read this book. In fact, I just heard about it five minutes ago. I do like the fact that Ben Stein says in the interview that he is pro-soldier, and donates all proceeds from the sale of this book to TAPS, which supports the families of our troops.Keep up with me...

Kamil Skawinski Most of us remember Ben Stein from the hit 1986 John Hughes comedy, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," where he gave that inimitable performance as the ever-droning high school teacher who labored to explain intellectually challenging economic concepts such as "voodoo economics" to a group of thoroughly disinterested teens.
define("SCHERE", 0);
define("STEIN", 1);
define("PAPIER", 2);
There's a new Ben Stein Movie out called, "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed." It's exposes the thought police in "BIG SCIENCE" and American public schools. The movie shows how schools police thought by teaching the THEORY of no-Creator evolution as if it is absolute fact. And if you dare question it or have thoughts about an alternative then you are a trouble maker.I don't mind no-Creator evolution being taught in schools as long as it is taught as a conceived possibility and NOT as fact because, afterall, it is still a THEORY. And I think that the alternative theory of intelligent design should be taught as well because science should be about looking at all the information and making up your own mind, right? I mean, what are they afraid of? If life started from absolute nothingness with no higher power than we can look at both theories and see that, right?I know why some scientists don't want kids to see another possibility--because scientists left and right are jumping off the
The NY Times had an editorial by Ben "Bueller" Stein on the irrational behavior of lenders. Even though it was originally published in March, I think it's relevant for Prosper lenders.
But wait a minute. What is a junk bond if not a loan to a subprime borrower? Why do lenders think that those bonds are called “below investment grade?” It’s not just a formality or a quaint term. Over long periods

Jamie Oliver and Rick Stein have had their restaurants threatened with firebombing by a Cornish terrorist group campaigning for an independent Cornwall. The CNLA, Cornish National Liberation Front has said the celebrity chefs have alienated locals.
An email circulated to its members, local people, and newspapers read: “At an unspecified date, Rick Stein will himself feel a ‘rosy glow’ in our Cornish port of Padstow. Many local people have approached our activists for assistance against this English incomer. His vehicles and those of his clients are bona fida targets for our activists.”
And of Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver they say: “Another incomer who has caused the inflation of house and other living costs at Cornish expense and subsidised by European funding who, together with his clients and customers and the owners of the hotel, are also targets of the CNLA.”
Police say they are taking these threats very seriously; a police spokesperson has th
I never would have figured Ben Stein to be a car guy, but apparently that’s the case. Mr. Stein, known for being brainy, slightly nerdy, and often very dryly humorous, wrote an article for the New York Times about the American auto industry. Here’s an excerpt from his article, titled The Dream That Once Was Detroit:
I AM an American, and therefore I love cars. I am an American and, in America, you are what you drive, and here are some memories.
This is the only dream I remember from all of high school: Instead of my light blue, miserable 1955 Chevrolet, I had a white 1962 Corvette like the one my pal Calvin Kline (not the designer) had, and Gay Patlen, my high school dream girl, kissed me on the lips (in the dream). You are what you drive. Even in your dreams.
I like this guy. Click here to read the rest of the article.
