In the latest "adjustment" caused by the exploding cost of fuel thieves have started syphoning gas directly from cars in Milwaukee and i am sure soon the rest of the country. Locked gas tanks help some, says police officials, but thieves get around that by drilling holes in the fuel tanks. Its a choice between give up the gas or give up the gas and buy a new gas tank which can cost upwards of $300 minus the liquid gold inside."I fully expect to see car jackings of SUV's primarily for the gas is the tank cannot be far behind" pondered an un-amed police officer from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. It is not just an Urban phenomenon. In the months to come as gas price sky-rocket towards $6 or $7 the inner city will become a much more dangerous place to exist in. "I feel for the whole country, gas price

Starbucks will not refund California baristas. - Mar. 28, 2008 "The ruling would take away the right of shift supervisors to receive the tips they earn for providing superior customer service," said Chief Executive Howard Schultz, in a voicemail message to employees Wednesday night. I think anyone who gets behind the idea of suing Starbuck's for stealing from it's employees is really either misunderstanding the problem, or greedy. Countering the rancour in the West against outsourcing of jobs, the chairman of IT major Wipro has said India was not stealing their jobs and its businesses were moving into developed countries which did not have enough skilled graduates to compete in the global economy."What is of concern is how serious a shortage of technical talent is building up in the western world. Global companies are going to where not enough young boys and girls are getting into math, science and engineering. That trend is not being reversed," Wipro chairman Azim Premji said.Premji said that as Wipro expands into other countries, it often has to hire graduates from other disciplines and then send them to its campus in Bangalore to be trained in software engineering and other technical skills.Premji said the talent
It has been common lately for much people around the world, to get their cars stolen in a very tricky and maybe smart way.The process is so simple and tricky; when you drive your car to any Shopping Mall, big Complex, Hospital, Restaurant or any traffic jammed street, you will find those fake valet guys waiting for you at the doors, asking you to park your car politely, so you would give them your car and they would give you a card with your number!! you go in for couple of hours then come back happily to take your car and drive back home to discover that you have been fooled in a very smart gentle way to sell your car and exchange it with a piece of paper having a cool random number on it!!! :SSo you better watch out giving your car to fake valet parking guys!! I am imagining how would it

Who or what am I referring to, you may ask. Well, I am referring to the devil wanting to steal our Christmas joy and peace! Any of you seen the kid’s T.V. Christmas special, “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” ? Yeah, I thought you might have. Anyway, you see, to me, the devil is like the Grinch. Of course, he can’t stand Christmas, and he will do anything he can to take away from the true reason for the season! Of course, the devil also can’t stand all the “peace, joy, and goodwill” going around either! He will also do anything he can to distract us from Jesus; to get us focused on the wrong things. It is not hard to recognize when we are letting the evil one have his way. A good indicator is when we end up a “stressed out mess;” you know, like a jumbled, tangled ball of Christmas tree lights.
But as Christians, we know that there is only one perfect gift

I'm a little upset this morning. Why am I upset this time? The warehouse of one of my favorite charities, The Empty Stocking Fund, was robbed a couple of days ago. The Empty Stocking Fund provides toys for underprivileged children in the Metro Atlanta area during the holiday season. They have been one of my favorite charities for about 5 years. Apparently, when you are a thief, it does not matter who you steal from. The thieves broke in thru a small window and made off with over $50,000 in toys meant to be distributed to needy children during holiday season. What makes this story even crazier? The warehouse is in the same building as Atlanta City Hall and the Atlanta Police headquarters!I will be donating a little extra this year to help them out. It is becoming commonplace to hear negative news regarding the housing market. Dollar signs get thrown around in conversations with no real practical sense for the public to grasp the magnitude of the problem. HSBC for example announced that they are pumping $35 billion into their ailing SIVs to avoid a fire sale of assets. You must ask yourself, why are large institutions so frightened about putting assets onto the market? The so called mark to market fear that many structure finance players are trying to avoid at all costs. These short term bailouts are only pausing the inevitable. At a certain point the curtain will be removed and most suspect that the wizard isn’t so powerful after all. I’ve been contemplating this and think that we need to examine multiple areas of the economy to realize that this housing market is merely a symptom a larger epidemic. There have been many articles pointing out the fallacy in assuming that the current credit crunch was caused simply by s
Someone filched photographs of Nicole Richie’s Beverly Hills Hotel baby shower and now intends to sell them to the tabs, a major trespass considering Richie had given what was thought to be exclusive coverage rights to InStyle magazine. The prime suspect? Long-fingered embarrassment Paris Hilton. “All the photos that were offered had Paris right in the center of them, as the star,” sniffs the insider. “They look set up.” The pics, priced at around $3,000 to $4,000, did not sell since the celebrity tabloids closed early last week, due to Thanksgiving. But in the opinion of our conspiracy theorist: “None of the money would have been for Paris — for her it’s about the attention.” Didn’t that person mean, “For her personality disorder it’s about the attention”?Paris Hilton Philippines
Paris Hilton is being sued by a woman who claims the blonde socialite “stole” her look. The “Simple Life” star has been accused of causing “emotional distress” to fellow Californian Nicolle O’Neill, who fancies herself as an inspiration to the party-loving heiress. In a bizarre personal injury complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court earlier this month, O’Neill alleges that she suffers psychologically because of Hilton and accuses the 26-year-old of ripping off her style, including fashion-related “patens” (sic) and “stiling” (sic) tips. Two pages of documents spell out specific charges against Hilton, including a claim that she stole O’Neill’s idea to expose her underwear under her trousers. O’Neill also claims Paris swiped her idea to shop in vintage stores for retro dresses. Hilton has yet to issue a response to the allegations. [ source ]

Have you ever wondered if someone is stealing all your posts and other content that you've published on the internet? Well, this post is all about finding out if someone is copying and pasting your content word for word. Plagiarism is not a great thing for your website because you might be loosing a lot of visitors and or revenue when someone else who has a higher pagerank/gets more visitors steals your content and posts it on their website. Even worse, someone else might be making money from the content that you worked hard to write and publish. Here are a couple of tips on how to find the content stealing culprits!Use Copyscape. Copyscape is a great little tool that auto-magically searches for content similiar to that of your website on other websites. All you need to do is mention the url of the website, after which copyscape will search the web for similar articles. The only downside to this method is that if someone has rephrased some of the words in the article, copyscape might no
1. Have a quiet, unemotional "conference" with both parents and grandparents, if they are being together. Consolidate your forces and try to see the problem from an objective point of view.Make them understand that the problem is not yet serious, but it could develop into real delinquency if not attended to right away. Blaming you or giving excuses will not help. Your task is to help the boy shake off the habit.2. Accept the possibility that the boy may be unhappy or perplexed about Ids life. There are conflicts existing around him. He is not insulated against them. He feels these as acutely as you do.3. The ideal arrangement would be for you to share the same roof with them — without the grandparents. But if this is not possible, you just try to make yourself more available to the kids and to spend more time with them. Take them out for the day shopping, going to the movies, taking in a show, so that they will get to know you better.4. Don't punish or scold your son for pilfe

I don’t mean to be a dick, and if they had stolen one of my pictures of Detroit or some random photo of graffiti, I wouldn’t be this upset. But they chose to steal a photo of my daughter and use it to promote their product. Babble is not some babe-in-the-woods new mommyblog, it’s a product of the sam

Is Stealing Wireless Wrong?
A man has been arrested after being spotted allegedly sitting in a street with a laptop using someone else's unsecured wireless connection.
The man arrested in a street in west London is at least the third person to be accused of breaching the law by taking internet service without permission.
The Communications Act 2003 says a "person who (a) dishonestly obtains an
As a huge fan of Jane’s Addiction, I’m thrilled that I have the opportunity to use this as a title for one of my posts.
One of the all-time greatest albums.
I sense a vague feeling of unrest out there due to the title of this post, so let me once again put your collective minds at ease, I was not the one who was caught stealing. They have yet to catch me.
Yes, I’m kidding. Rather, twice this past week I was confronted with issues of theft from the restaurant that I had to deal with, and it is just another element of the learning process in how to manage restaurant workers.
The first instance had to deal with paychecks. The paychecks came out this past Thursday (whoo hoo!) and chef pointed out two of them as being excessively high in overtime. I couldn’t explain this anomaly, but as the keeper of the schedule, I was able to confirm that they should not have had that much overtime since they simply didn’t work that many days. So of course the next e
We have a serious shortage of strippers due to randy robots. Or at least that's what one artist believes. Vance DeGeneres (related to Ellen) is an artist with a thing for naked women and robots. Painted in oil, his paintings warn of stripping down for the metal machines. DeGeneres' "It's Because I'm a Robot, Isn't It..." piece is reminiscent of the popular Threadless "She Doesn't Even Realize" tee. From robot robbery to poker, who knew robots could be so crafty? Girl

One ‘feature’ of XP is the ability of one application to steal the focus from another. This is the reason why notepad looses focus when someone buzzes you in Yahoo! messenger. [Thatz still ok.. Imagine playing NFS MostWanted when some one messages you or an antivirus alerts you that it has been updated.]
If you find that annoying, here [right click, “save link as”] is a workaround for preventing an application from stealing focus.

We encounter cycle stealing in the context of Direct Memory Access (DMA). Either the DMA controller can use the data bus when the CPU does not need it, or it may force the CPU to temporarily suspend operation. The latter technique is called cycle stealing. Note that cycle stealing can be done only at specific break points in an instruction cycle.
I know this isn’t new, but I just read the story on the NYTimes regarding he lawsuit against Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg for allegedly having stolen the design, concept and even the Business Plan from a University based Social Network - Connectu.com - while he worked there as a programmer.
Now here is where the story starts to piss me off. I have heard countless times of stories of people accusing others of stealing ideas after those ideas are put into practice and have proven to be successful.
The way I see it, there is no property over ideas that are not patented. Even if he did base Facebook on something that was mainly thought by Connectu, why didn’t Connectu act on the idea on the first place?
This World is packed with thinkers and Sayers that don’t really contribute to progress in any way because they spend the entire day thinking, chatting and whining.
An idea is worthless if no one acts on it.
Thank god there are still action orientated people ou
Site Stealing.
It looks controversial right.
Yeah it is.
In fact, it’s so controversial that Clickbank Banned it. They wouldn’t let Harris and his co-hort in crime (read business partner) Richard sell it on Clickbank.
You may be thinking…
Why?
Because it’s just that powerful.

Plagiarizing isn't just about Stealing Active Rain Points - It's Stealing Customers - PART 1Much has been written about plagiarism and all the various ways people GAME the Active Rain system for what I guess is points - and let's not kid ourselves it's more than "stealing points" because the real purpose is to "steal customers" I say steal because they ARE knowingly using other peoples hard work and intellectual capital to "attract" clients with SEO they don't deserve and knowledge they don't possess with integrity that's non-existent!Now let me be clear - we've all made mistakes on Active Rain - I've made my share from unknowingly spamming people in my first week (for which I emailed apologies to each one once I learned the faux pas) to hijacking an occasional post :-) from time to time- so, I get it, new people make mistakes (like 1 or 2)- give em a second chance, educate em - bu

It has been reported that Geek Squad techs will poke around in people’s personal computers and download pictures, mp3s, and other things in addition to performing whatever task they were asked to do.
The Consumerist rigged a computer with a screen recorder, loaded it with nudie pics, and took it in to have iTunes installed. They recorded everything that the Geek Squad tech did.
This is probably more widespread than people think and isn’t just limited to the Geek Squad. I’ve heard stories of photolab techs making extra copies of sexy pictures that people brought in to develop. In the digital age, what some members of the Geek Squad do is just the natural progression of this “theft”.

Canadian singer/songwriter Avril Lavigne is being sued by U.S. songwriters who claim that her smash hit "Girlfriend'' sounds suspiciously like a single they released in the 1970s.
Apparently the song has a striking similarity to the Rubinoos song "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend.'
I love Netflix. I seriously love Netflix. And I often wondered how tempted a postal worker may be when he/she knows what is contained within those red envelopes. Sure stuff gets lost in the mail. Sure subscribers lose DVDs or try to keep them themself. So tempting…
But to think that you would get away with stealing 8000 DVDs? Come on!
Anthony Zuniga of Houston thought this. Now he is locked up for 18 months after he was caught on surveillance tape stealing DVDs. Then when his home was searched, over 8000 stolen pieces of mail were found. This included mail rental DVDs from Netflix and Blockbuster.
WTF were you going to do with those? eBay?

James E. Rogers, CEO of Duke Energy Corp., is a smart man. His company, like many others in the U.S. power industry, has recently come out of the stone-age to declare that while government caps on carbon dioxide emissions have yet to be put into action, they plan on cutting their emissions without force! Not only that, somehow Rogers managed to finagle a widely published article released by The Associated Press that begins romantically symbolizing the entire operation of creating a greener and more ozone friendly industry by comparing it (in his own vision) to that of the Notre Dame or even St. Peter’s Basilica—what Rogers terms “cathedral thinking.” The educated reader can easily read through the lines of such propaganda. It isn’t as if the bells of impending doom haven’t been ringing for decades. Two things make this public relations move something that the American public will gobble up: first, lead with something grand and vaguely religious—Americans love that, secon

Can anyone own the wind? In my world not, but maybe in another universe, the world of the total capitalism.
In Germany there is an interesting debate about the right to own the wind, from Spiegel Online:
With a growing number of wind power stations in Germany, a new kind of legal case is rearing its ugly head. The crime: stealing wind.
Another interesting issue is about the spam, the terrible disease of this digital world. Many, especially historians, complain that e-mail is too ethereal and that communication is being lost to future generations. But, the librarians in UK have a idea of how to solve this problem, Spiegel Online reports:
The British Library, home to some of the most prized historic documents, has now teamed up with software giant Microsoft to collect and archive e-mails and create a snap-shot of British life for future generations to peruse. The library is calling on Britons to click open their archives and to send in their most interesting. In just over 24 hours, t
