Dave Hutchinson of the Star-Ledger reports that 2008 fourth-round pick Dwight Lowery may replace Justin Miller as the starting cornerback opposite Darrelle Revis in week one against the Miami Dolphins.
In three preseason games, Lowery has a team-high 17 tackles, good for fifth in the NFL, with three passes defended and an interception.

Rookie Trent Edwards will be the starting quarterback for this Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins, the Bills announced today. Edwards takes over for J.P. Losman for the second time this season. Reported by buffalonews.com
According to Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post, QB Kellen Clemens will start against the Redskins this upcoming week. After the game, Mangini would not give any hints whether he was poised to make a change, but a source with intimate knowledge of the team’s thinking told The Post last night Mangini will turn to Clemens.
…Well, this was expected, just a few weeks earlier…
49ers QB Alex Smith will start on Sunday against New Orleans, HC Mike Nolan said. Smith, out since Sept. 30 with a separated shoulder, went through his second full day of practice Thursday, leading the 49ers’ first-team offense with no apparent discomfort. “It’s not so much my confidence in him, it’s his confidence in taking reps [in practice],” Nolan said. “I expect him to play well, and he looked good. He looked healthy today.” Reported by Associated Press, ESPN
Just a quick update on the starting team and injuries before the Bolton match.
Wenger has revealed that he will be starting Manuel Almunia for the match, and leaving Jens Lehmann out of the side completely. Regular readers will already know that I am absolutely delighted about this. While he mentions that Lehmann is indeed fit, one has to assume the reasoning behind this is the comments the German has made in recent weeks. Subsequently, Lukasz Fabianski will sit on the bench.
It also seems that Tomas Rosicky will not make it back into the starting lineup and with the rest of the midfielders fit it should be Abou Diaby who slots in on the left. The other option would be to play Alexander Hleb on the left and put Theo Walcott on the right, so we will have to wait and see what Wenger does. It seems the manager also favours Eduardo da Silva over Nicklas Bendtner up front, so expect the Croatian to start and the Dane to sit on the bench. He explains that Bendtner is more likely to play in
Blackburn v Arsenal Match Preview
Arsenal go to Ewood Park on Sunday night to play their second game of the Premier League season against Blackburn Rovers. After their last-gasp win over Fulham last weekend and a controlled 2-0 Champions League qualification victory away to Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic, Arsenal will want to keep their positive start to the season going against an underrated Blackburn side. Manager Arsene Wenger was asked earlier this week whether he thought his side could win the Premiership and whilst he agreed it was possible Wenger was keen to keep things in perspective.

SHARKS scrum half Ruan Pienaar will make his first start in the South Africa No 9 jersey when the Springboks host Australia in the Tri-Nations opener at Newlands on Saturday.
South Africa has made 11 changes to the team that ran out against Samoa last weekend, with wings Ashwin Willemse and J.P. Pietersen, prop B.J. Botha and captain and hooker John Smit the only players to retain their place.
There is also no place in the match 22 for Os du Randt, who started against Samoa last more…
A few thoughts before the Twins take the field against the WhiteSox.
Kevin Slowey finally gets his chance. In a move that has been talked about since spring training, Kevin Slowey will finally get his chance to make his MLB debut. This isn’t really much of a surprise. He’s throwing the ball very well for AAA Rochester and has been nearly unhittable since the start of Spring Training. Most Twins people in the media compare Slowey to Brad Radke. Jason Bartlett disagrees by saying, “He’s like Radke but with wicked stuff”. Nuff said.
Matt Garza needs to grow up. I hate to say this because i’m a huge Garza guy….but he needs to tighen up his upper lip a little. He seems to think that the Twins are not handling him correctly. He refuses to throw more “off speed” pitches and believes that the Twins are making a mistake by asking him to do this. Closed circuit to Matt Garza….. If the Twins are known for one
On ESPN.com, the Associated Press is saying that it looks like Roger Clemens will not make his first start against the Boston Red Sox, but rather he will make his first start against the Chicago White Sox next Monday.Yankees' manager Joe Torre had this to say about having Clemens not pitch against the Red Sox:"I'm not disappointed that he's not pitching at Fenway," Torre said. "I don't think that series needs any more hype than it gets every time we play it, whether it's in Fenway or at the Stadium. You'd obviously be tempted if you had a kid pitching and you can replace him with Roger Clemens. When you have Wang, Moose and Andy, there's really not the temptation to do that."I personally would have liked to have seen him pitch against the Red Sox. I guess we'll have to wait until later this season to maybe see Clemens start against the Red Sox. Do you think Torre should start Clemens in this upcoming series against the Red Sox?
Braves SP Tim Hudson worked five scoreless innings Sunday against the Tigers. He allowed just three hits and a walk, while striking out three. He has now just allowed three earned runs in 15 innings (1.80 ERA). He also has seven strikeouts. Hudson has looked awfully impressive this spring after a disappointing 2006 campaign. The Braves were 21-14 in his starts, so it's entirely possible they would have missed the playoffs even if he had pitched much better. A miserable bullpen was the main problem. The bullpen appears to have improved in the offseason, with Rafael Soriano and Mike Gonzalez coming aboard, so consider Hudson as a decent No. 4 SP in 12-team mixed leagues. Source: CBS SportsLine.com
