The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) is one of the most dangerous terrorist organisations in the world. Even the ultra-liberal would find it difficult to term them as fighters, as the organisation has been responsible for the assassination of a Prime Minister of our country. In this context, it is strange to see the audacity of DMK, which is forcing the Centre to act and intervene. I have mixed feelings about it. Truthfully, I hated the idea at first. But this battle I lost early on, and I never found ground to retake. There are moments I cringe, like when the character wanders through a strip club; none of the nudity or behaviour seems to register with Helena, though — at least, it doesn't faze her — so I've restrained myself from reacting in case I create an issue wher

One of the unique characteristics of kung fu is it's emphasis on the importance of stance training. Generally this consists of holding a static stance for a certain period of time, and this is done not only to thoroughly familiarize a student with the stances, but also to increase leg strength and, to improve stability, to train balance (particularly in stances where all the weight is on one leg), and to increase flexibility (particularly for low stances).Placing such an emphasis on stance training is staying true to a very traditional method of training, but in focusing on static stances many schools of modern kung fu or wushu neglect another aspect of stance training which is equally as important - stance changing exerises. One of the reason there are so many stanc

Because it is the first step in bowling, the stance is one of the most important phases of the bowling game. It's the point of origin and should be standardized. You should have a very definite way to place your feet every time you go up to bowl. The ball should always be held in the same place in respect to your body. Above all, both of these factors should be maintained so that you are the most comfortable. If you're comfortable, you're not even going to notice the weight of the ball. You're off on the "right foot" because you have already learned how to stand. Certainly, the first few times you try to bowl, even if your stance is comfortable, you're going to be nervous; you're trying something new. But if you are comfortable up there, that nervousness won't stay with you very long. Pres

Charles Krauthammer has a great column on Bush's principled stance on embryonic stem cells and his current vindication by advances in technology by the very same scientist who first isolated human embryonic stem cells.
Technology Vindicates MoralityBy Charles KrauthammerFriday, November 30, 2007
"If human embryonic stem cell research does not make you at least a little bit uncomfortable, you have not thought about it enough."
-- James A. Thomson
WASHINGTON -- A decade ago, Thomson was the first to isolate human embryonic stem cells. Last week, he (and Japan's Shinya Yamanaka) announced one of the great scientific breakthroughs since the discovery of DNA: an embryo-free way to produce genetically matched stem cells.
Even a scientist who cares not a whit about the morality of embryo destruction will adopt this technique because it is so simple and powerful. The embryonic stem cell debate is over.

Former San Antonio Mayor and HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros is speaking out about the Republican’s stance on immigration, which he says is risky for the party, but good for Democrats:
They risk driving Hispanic voters into Democrats’ arms for years to come, he said.
Mr. Cisneros, in an interview before he spoke to the Hispanic Scholarship Consortium in Austin, said that though the Republicans use immigration to fire up their base, they may wind up deeply angering Hispanics.
“Those who have simply focused on security at the border and not on the other humane aspects” of the immigration issue offend Hispanics, he said.
Mr. Cisneros predicted Hispanic voters would respond by voting more heavily for Democrats, as has happened in California since the mid-1990s. There, he said, many Hispanic voters have memories of Republican Gov. Pete Wilson’s scary TV ads about immigration, which he used to successfully revive his re-election bid in 1994.
Cisneros is right on

In a recent interview with Tim Russert on Meet The Press, Thompson came out with more of a Libertarian view on social issues such abortion and marriage than that of a socially conservative Republican."People ought to be free, at state and local levels, to make decisions even Fred Thompson disagrees with,” he said. “That's what freedom is about."This aligns him to essentially the same position as GOP hopeful Ron Paul. Dr. Paul also has a strong voting record on pro-life measures and believes that marriage is between a man and woman. However he also feels that this an issue is that is better left up to individual states and that it is not an issue of the federal constitution. It also aligns him with a similar position of GOP hopeful Rudy Giuliani who has been slammed constantly by conservatives for his social views. Giuliani has often stated that he believes marriage is between a man and a woman and that he personally despises abortion. However he does not feel that it is his ri

Alveda King, a former member of the Georgia state Legislature and the niece of Martin Luther King Jr. promoted abstinence and adoption as alternatives to what she called "womb lynching" of unborn children. She encouraged efforts in state legislatures to reduce abortions. A woman can do what she wants with her body, King said. "The baby is not her body. That's not a blob of tissue, that's a person." King claimed the abortion industry is targeting African-Americans, saying that more than one-third of an estimated 49 million abortions since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decis
Last week saw us making some fairly sound picks, but we've still yet to hit our stride. Stick with us, dear readers, and you'll see TJI blossom into a juggernaut of prediction and prognostication.Actually, relatively speaking, we're not doing too shabby. We checked out CBS Sportsline's Start 'em or Sit 'em column from Week 5 and for a fantasy sports powerhouse, they leave a lot to be desired. Their start of the week was Brett Favre, who put up sub-par numbers. They also recommended starts for stinkers Jon Kitna, Vince Young, Drew Brees, and Brandon Marshall, and advised sits on several top players of the week including Cedric Benson, Philip Rivers, Vincent Jackson, and Randy McMichael.Makes us feel a lot better...on to this week's tipsQB to StartEli Manning @ Falcons--With one Manning off this week, the other steps it up.Brian Griese vs. Vikings--He'll exploit a poor pass defense.Kurt Warner vs. Carolina--Another poor defense set to get lit up by another retread.QB to SitBrett
While the rest of the fantasy pundits out there cover their rears with lists of 20 players at each position to start and sit, This Just In Fantasy Sports picks just 3.Gutsy, we know. But our track record has been fairly good this season. Where else could you get a recommendation to start Daunte Culpepper last week? To anyone that listened…you’re welcome. To anyone that started Ronald Curry or Eli Manning…well, hopefully you’ll give us a second chance.Remember, our focus is on the not-so-obvious choices. You know who the must-starts are. And we won’t waste your time by listing them here.Running Backs to Start:Larry Johnson vs. Jacksonville—Don’t look now, but LJ just might be back. Look for KC to pound it today and Larry will respond.Clinton Portis vs. Detroit—Reports are that he’s healthy and ready to touch the ball 15+ times against a soft D.Reggie Bush vs. Carolina—The well-rested #1 man in the Big Easy will make it look easy.Running Backs to Sit:Travis Henry vs.
Welcome to the Three Point Stance, where the TJI experts provide you with three not-so-obvious picks to start and sit for each key position. In a further effort to prove to our growing fan base that our picks our solid, let’s start by taking a look at last week’s hits and misses.Start Hits: Rudi Johnson, Donald Driver, Matt Hasselback, Chris ChambersStart Misses: Larry Johnson, Bernard BerrianSit Hits: Tatum Bell, Chris Brown, Alex Smith, Laverneus Coles, Ronald CurrySit Misses: Vince Young, Jon Kitna Just for the record, unlike many publications, the Three Point Stance DID NOT recommend starting the Cincinnati Bengals Defense in Week 2. We couldn’t resist pointing that out. We certainly showed some improvement and hopefully earned your trust. Week 3 is a tricky one to predict, but we’ll give it a shot. We love a challenge. First things first. We need to reflect on what was an abyssmal week for our team of prognosticators. Our Start/Sit recommendations produced mixed results, but, hey it was our first one ever, cut us a break, okay? Here were our hit starters: LaMont Jordan, Adrian Peterson, Tony Romo, Ben Roethlisberger & Andre Johnson. 5 for 9. Not great, but the 5 were pretty big hits. And the sit-list hits: Vince Young, LenDale White, Brandon Jackson, Lee Evans, & Braylon Edwards. Again 5 for 9. We've gotta do better. And there were a few misses that we have to own up to, such as recommending that you bench Plaxico Burress and that you start Reggie Brown & Jerry Porter. Sorry about that. Trust us, faithful readers, we will do better in Week 2.Now, we take our Three-Point Stance:Running Backs to START:Rudi Johnson @ Cleveland--When they're up 83-1 in the second half, the Bengals will be content to pound the rock.Larry Johnson @ Chicago--We know. No one playing the Bears should get the start. We just
Welcome to Three-Point Stance, where each week we'll highlight three (hence the title) players at the QB, RB, and WR positions that we deem worthy of starting, or that we feel should stay on your bench. We'll stay away from recommending players with a high "Duh" value, as we like to call it. You won't find Peyton Manning or LT on our lists because if you ask us, "Should they start for my team?" We'll reply, "Duh."Instead, our focus will be on the lower-tier, not so obvious players. The ones that are so tough to choose between as the clock ticks down to the opening kickoff. These are the players that really can make or break your team's week or their season.Running Backs to START:Reggie Bush @ Indianapolis--He will abuse a weak Indy D in the Thursday night shootout.LaMont Jordan vs. Detroit--Lucky for him...his bounce-back season begins against a team that's been trying to bounce back since 1954.Adrian Peterson vs. Atlanta--The Vikings did not draft him for nothing. I can’t include (former) NJ Governer Jim McGreevey in the mix, because he at least had the balls to admit he was gay after his relationship with his young, male, totally-unqualified advisor Golan Cipel was discovered. I think Cipel is kind of cute, though, so I don’t blame Jim for hiring him despite his lack of credentials. I’d have done him, too. Of course, McGreevey tried to hide it just like the rest of the gang, but when caught, he at least ‘fessed up. With wife by his side (well, ex now), so I’m cutting him some slack.

Our old friend France is finally back: Sarkozy 'corrects' Chirac's errorsBy Amir Taheri, Special to Gulf NewsPublished: August 22, 2007, 00:13 One of the key promises that Nicolas Sarkozy had made during his presidential election campaign last spring was to "correct" foreign policy "mistakes" made by his predecessor Jacques Chirac.Chief among these was Chirac's desperate efforts to prevent the liberation of Iraq from Saddam Hussain's regime of terror.Chirac failed to save his friend's regime but managed to do serious damage to relations with the US, Great Britain and more than 40 other nations that joined the coalition of the willing to liberate Iraq in 2003. Sarkozy's moves to correct the mistake started even before his election when he met President George W. Bush at the White House in 2006 and described Chirac's policy as "arrogant". The surprise visit paid to Iraq by France's new Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner this week is another move by Sarkozy
According to this acticle from iht.com, France may be shifting it’s stance on the Iraq war. Now with president Nicolas Sarkozy replacing Jacques Chirac it seems as though France is more willing to take an active role. Not militarily but possibly diplomatically. Jacques Chirac’s policy was to oppose the United States at every opportunity, now the new president seems to be more willing to work with us.
After years of shunning involvement in a war it said was wrong, France now believes it may hold the key to peace in Iraq, proposing itself as an “honest broker” between the Sunni, Shiite and Kurdish factions.
The shift was one of the most concrete consequences yet of the thaw in French-American relations following the election in May of President Nicolas Sarkozy, whose administration no longer feels bound by the adamant refusal to take a role in Iraq that characterized the reign of his predecessor, Jacques Chirac.
Perhaps Sarkozy understands the threat in his

A rare video address that Fred Thompson made for the Rights to Life convention in Kansas City has surfaced and gives a unique and telling look into the mysterious actor who has managed in recent months to catch plenty of free press as a presidential front runner without announcing he is even running as a candidate for president. The video offers a rare look at Fred Thompson's much younger wife and two small children. For many who support Thompson, or are interested in knowing more about the senator turned actor, the campaign-style two and half minute video not only gives us a look at his wife and children, but it also provides a little more understanding of a man who so far no one knows much about, especially in regards to his stance on many issues, including abortion. In the video, Thompson says the following about the hot-button political and moral issue - stemcell research: "I’m for adult stem cell research not stem cell research where embryos of unborn children are destroyed. So the saga of Adam “Pacman” Jones is set to continue, as he is to sit down and have a chat with NFL commish Roger Goodell on Friday about his one-year suspenion. I can’t imagine what BS will come from Jones, as he has been given the league a black eye with his ridiclous number of off the field incidents and five arrests that seemed to have started right after he got drafted by the Titans in the first round in 2005.
Jones was suspended for “conduct detrimental to the NFL,” and that is exactly what he has done in about two years in the league. His latest appeal to fans and the league came in the form of taking out a full page ad in a newspaper claiming that he was going to do his best to change his ways. The one page ad to me came across as a desperate man trying anything he can to get back on the field. His words seemed hollow, and I still think that once Goodell and Jones meet face to face, the commish should keep with the first one-year suspension that h

She and Andi Oliver, (they met in Rip, Rig and Panic and Andi is a BBC London stalwart) have an easy on-screen thang going on and they do genuinely know their onions, but if I see one more London market portrayed as THE place to get PROPER food where EVERYONE is as chirpy as a sparrow on heat, I'll have to stick a pinapple up my arse AND enjoy it.This week's show they cooked up a very tasty looking roasted garlic chicken (with blood red oranges and cheapo champagne no less), shrimp fritters and coconut ice-cream... for 25. 25? 25!!?? I know they've both got loads of friends but that was reeedickulous. Who, for a start, has oven space for 7 whole chickens. Like I said earlier, it 'looks' authentic. BT
Ian Clark had to work with Luongo to improve his mobility earlier in the season. From the Vancouver Sun today: "The problem with his stance was he was too wide and locking in too early," Clark said. "He was using all his width in his stance so he had nowhere to extend. We actually narrowed him a little bit and heightened him."By "locking in low and wide," Luongo was actually reducing his mobility, one of his most important assets."We worked a lot on being more upright, especially when the play isn't as threatening as it is when the puck is in tight," Luongo said. "For me, there are two areas it really helped me out -- my mobility and reading the play better."If you're more wide and crouched down, you lock in more on the shooter and sometimes you can't react to the pass."Hey, I don't mean to brag...ok, yeah I do... but we were all over that in mid-October, thanks to a family member of mine who works with Clark in the summer.
Natalie Portman is a basketball fan and here are some pictures of her at a Knicks game. And that's all I have to say about that.
Whooo! I love OurBookofScrap.com!

Today I woke up early and decided to start with yoga. Some days ago I bought a dvd with yoga-instructions:
Power Yoga featuring renowned yoga instructor Kristin McGee.
Honestly, I dont believe in learning only from dvd:s. No, I think, at
least for me: the best is to join a group in real life and have an
instructor.
In my neighbourhood there is a sporthall and there I have planned to
join some lessons in power yoga. So this dvd I bougth for having as a
complement.
I started the film. Wow, what a wonderful view. The instructor Kristin
McGee and three other people performed the yoga on a top mountains of
Arizona in the background. I wish I was there.
But, it was to fast, I could now do everything and after five minuter my cold said: Hello stop.
I have to wait another day before I can start again. I have been ill
now for one week. Yesterday I felt better, but now the sore throat and
the cold take another grip on me. To bad.
I have never been able to sit in full lotus stance. I

Last year Swagtime hit the Sundance Film Festival to report on all the fun swag suites in Park City where the stars of these independent films could come and enjoy some warmth from the cold and explore some schnazzy swag. It was a wonderful time and I can't thank the team at The Luxury Lounge more for their hospitality last January. Yet the problem for Swagtime is that its founders, me being one of them, come from a TV and film background and although the Festival is a wonderful platform to feature all these great brands, the Festival should be about the films, not the swag.
Now mind you there was some cool stuff up there that celebs like Sienna Miller, Diddy and others picked up this year that we know you'd definitely find of interest, and we'll probably mention a hint here and there on the sites, but because our roots are in the creation of content Swagtime decided not to fully report on the gift lounges at this year's fest. We love our partners and friends wh
Tonight on FOX News Channel’s Hannity & Colmes, radio talk show host Michael Reagan, the adopted son of former President Ronald Reagan, insinuated that Nebraska GOP Senator Chuck Hagel is vehemently opposed to the war in Iraq because “he is running for re-election in 2008″ and “saw this last election” as a referendum on Iraq, ergo, his Iraq position is just “playing politics.”
However, Senator Hagel, a Vietnam combat veteran earning two Purple Hearts, voted for the AUMF in October 2002, but has long criticized the Bush administration.
The notion that Hagel made a significant shift on Iraq since November 7, 2006 is a complete farce.

As president and CEO of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, representing BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Ford, General Motors, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Toyota and Volkswagen, I can speak firsthand about the radical transformation that has been taking place within this global industry. For starters, let me be especially clear on this particular item: automakers support increasing Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards. In fact, today’s auto industry is currently advocating for the largest CAFE increase in U.S. history. The Alliance supports an unprecedented 30 percent to 40 percent CAFE increase over the next 15 years. We believe it’s time to end the debate. We urge Congress to act now, so we can continue with the hard work needed to further our efforts to improve fuel economy. To find the basis for an argument that the auto industry feels otherwise, one would have to dig pretty deep into the archives.
We want to educate our merchants about a troubling trend in paid search as it relates to affiliate marketing. Merchants who issue a blanket ban on affiliates' ability to bid on trademark and good target keywords are at risk of alienating top performing affiliate performers and, even worse, of diminishing the revenue earning potential of the merchant's affiliate program. Yes, it's a good idea to maximize your own PPC budget, but take into consideration the following before prohibiting affiliates to participate in PPC marketing.
First, we recommend that all merchants carefully evaluate the true overall cost of sales of your in-house PPC campaign management. If the true cost of sales for the in-house PPC campaign (including HR considerations such as employee salaries and benefits) is not greatly less than the commissions being paid to affiliates, we recommend that merchants allow affiliate partners to bid on terms that were previously off limits and loosen most restrictions. Perhaps
It must be difficult for newspapers when footballers and managers have the audacity not to say anything regarding their future. How can you bolster circulation throughout the summer months when they decide to keep schtum for a few weeks, keeping your reading public in the dark when they have a right to know?!
