There’s a new unconfirmed casting rumour doing the rounds. No, it’s not for Star Trek (surprisingly) but Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming biopic, Poe. Apparently Stallone has approached Viggo Mortensen and offered him the title role. It is said that Mortensen is seriously considering the role, although he wants some slight script changes made. The film is scheduled to go into production next year. It chronicles the life of the legendary writer up until his mysterious death in 1849. I think Mortensen is a great choice for the role, he’s a fantastic actor and I’m sure he’ll bring a lot to the table. Robert Downey, Jr, was once in talks to play Edgar Allan Poe and Milo Ventimiglia was a popular choice, having played Rocky’s son in Rocky Balboa. Veteran action star Sylvester Stallone sure is keeping himself busy these days. He both starred and directed 2006’s Rocky Balboa, as well as 2008’s Rambo. Now he’s getting ready to remake Charles Bronson’s 1974 hit, Death Wish, and yes, he will direct it as well as play the main role of Paul Kersey. For those too young to remember Death Wish, it’s about an ordinary man whose life gets turned upside down when his wife is brutally murdered and his daughter raped, turning him into a merciless vigilante. I believe it was rated R. The remake should go into production next March.

This is one interesting piece of news I just read. It seems that Sylvester Stallone was charged with importing an illeagal growth hormone under the form of a drug called Jintropin. To his defense, the "Rocky" star and in my opinion a former great body has declared that he did not know the drug was illegal. He was caught in Australia holding 48 vials of this hormone. It does seem a lot doesn't it? The fact is that it seems he has a medical condition that he treats using hormones for quite a long time.
