A Beautiful Game Continues to be Marred by Fan Violence in Stadiums Across the World
By J.A. SeguraIs it the passion we have for our home teams, or is the hate we have for the opposing team? Every week there is violence affecting games being played in South America, Europe and Asia. Racism and fan violence was evident over the weekend in Argentina and France.Saturday March 29th was the French cup final between Paris-St Germaine and Lens, two teams struggling at the bottom of the table. The game was won by Paris and they raised the Cup in there home stadium but this was all overshadowed by a derogatory banner held by some PSG supporters. The banner was visible for about five minutes at the start of the second half. The banner read "Paedophiles, unemployed, inbreeding, welcome to the North." this was aimed toward the people of Lens. The banner was very controversial and was

Classic Stadiums Available On Xbox Live
On the day before the release of the world's most yearly anticipated football game -- Madden -- I, of course, would like to discuss baseball video gaming. Huh? Well, let me explain. Some of you will already be aware of this, but unless something walks up and punches me in the face, I am not always up-to-date with my geekdom news. Last night I fired up my copy of 2K Sports' MLB 2K7, and as I logged on...I received a pop-up notification:Hey Marcus. How are you? Lookin' good. Hey, why don't you head on over to the Xbox Live Marketplace and download Montreal's classic Olympic Stadium? It's free!Free you say? Cool. But not now...I have a .500 record to try and maintain. So I declined the download offer. However, I wanted to bring to your attention the release of 7 historic stadiums available for download. Unlike Olympic Stadium though, you will be paying to play in such landmarks as Sportsman’s Park (St. Louis Cardinals and Browns), Forbes Field (Pittsburgh Pirates), Griffith Stadium

The Global Jaunt - Soccer Stadiums: Old Trafford "Theatre of Dreams"
By Jorge SeguraLocation: Manchester, EnglandCapacity: 76,312Inaugural Date: 1910Teams: Manchester United "The Red Devils"'Minor' Incidents: It was bombed during World War llAlthough I have never personally attended a game at Old Trafford I watch Man. U play every weekend on satellite. Man. U's home is considered a 5 star Stadium by UEFA. Manchester United has become my adopted team since my South American red devils are marred in scandal after scandal. Trafford is a beautiful stadium where the fans have been spoiled since the early 90's. Manchester United has won their league title 8 times since 1992-1993. They have also won 4 F.A. cups, 2 league cups and a UEFA champion's league title. Manchester United is big on promoting there young stars, and is currently owned by Malcolm Glazier owner of the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If you are not familiar with David Beckham you will be in June of 2007 when he arrives to a galaxy near L.A. I recall the thrill of watching David Beckh

The Global Jaunt - Soccer Stadiums: Estadio Olimpico Pascual Guerrero
By Jorge SeguraLocation: Santiago de Cali ColombiaCapacity: 45,195Inaugural Date: 7/20/1937Teams: America de Cali and Deportivo CaliLuxuries: You're lucky if your wallet and watch don't get stolenClaim to Fame: America plays there ('nuff said)'Minor' Incidents: In 1982 24 killed and 250 injured after drunken youths urinated from an upper tier of the Pascual Guerrero Stadium, provoking a stampede below.Olimpico Pascual Guerrero is not your typical stadium with luxury boxes or cush seats with numbers and letters, nor is it named after a credit card company or a big do-it-yourself chain. The venue is named after a poet who demanded a stadium be built back in 1935. This stadium is home to America de Cali one of the most famous soccer teams in South America. If you're a tourist looking to have a good time at a soccer stadium you want to stay away from the south end. This section is home to one of the most feared cheering sections in the world.
