The 2008 Geneva Auto Show cars report: the Spyker V8 powered C8 Aileron Grand Tourer is justing revealed at this year Geneva Motor Show as a new 2009 model. The Spyker C8 Aileron coupe has an aluminium body clad around an all aluminium space-frame chassis. The bodywork from the front draws heavily from Spyker’s aero heritage as some of the intakes would not look out of place on an Airbus A320.Squint a little from the rear and you would be forgiven that you were looking at a TVR Tuscan, overall though it’s undeniably interesting.A wider track and a 10cm longer wheelbase gives the Spyker an almost square footprint. Making that footprint are immense 19-inch BF Goodrich tyres which are wrapped around turbine style (the aero heritage again) 10 spoke bladed alloys.Just hidden behind these all

Spyker says F1 sale still not final
Spyker Cars N.V. says it has yet to finalize the sale of the Formula One team to Orange India, the company set up by Indian buisnessman Vijay Mallya and Michiel Mol to buy the team. In a press release from the Dutch manufacturer of premium sports cars, Spyker says a number of issues of "relative minor financial importance" still need to be ironed out. Since purchasing the team last September, Mallya and Mol have renamed the team Force India and are set to make their F1 debut in Australia in little less than two weeks time. Spyker Cars says it lost $67.3-million Euros in the first nine months of 2007. Spyker finalized the sale of the F1 team to Mallya's Orange India on September 29, 2007. That news sent shares in the publicly traded auto maker down more than 21% on the Dutch exchange.

      2007 F1 Season Review - Part 5 - Honda, Super Aguri, Spyker
Honda Oh my…. What a season. This is a team that under its old identity BAR Honda finished 2nd in the constructors table in 2004. This is the team that recorded its first race win in 2006. This the team who’s driver Jenson Button finished 3rd in driver’s table in 2004 and scored more points than any other driver in the second half of 2006 season… They hoped for further step up in 2007, if not for a title fight than at least few more race wins… To promote enviromental issues they entered the season with an unique Earth livery, with no sponsors messages on the car. The weight of the whole Earth was apparently too much for them to carry … The Australian Grand Prix was an eye opener. The Honda cars were solid midfield cars, far behind the leading Ferraris and McLarens. Both cars finished lap down, barely getting out of Q1. The pattern for the rest of the season has been set. The 3 week break before Malaysian GP did not help them much, more the opp

Spyker F1 team new owner Vijay Mallya has announced that from the next year the team will be renamed to Force India. This was expected and I have mentioned the likelihood of introducing a new name mentioning India.Thew new brand name for the team was revealed at Interlagos on Saturday. "We have applied to the FIA for a change in name of the company and the team from Spyker to Force India. I think that sums it all up as to why I am here." says the Indian businessman. The name change has been approved by the Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone. However, it would still require approval from the competing teams.Force India is the fourth name for this team. The initial name of the team was Jordan, then Midland, then Spyker F1 and now the fourth name is Force India.

Spyker C8 Spyder Supercar: the $650,000 hand-built convertible features a mid-mounted all-aluminium V8 engine sourced from Audi, which produces 300kW for rear-wheel distribution. Albers dropped by Spyker
Mark Webber remains confident that Red Bull will eventually take a giant leap up the grid, even though the squad has struggled to break out of the midfield this year. Hopes were high for 2007 as the team introduced its first Adrian Newey-designed, Renault-powered chassis. But despite showing flashes of pace, the RB3 has yet to fulfil its potential and has been struck by poor reliability - leaving Red Bull seventh in the constructors’ standings at the season’s halfway point. However Webber more…

      An interesting tester at Spyker
Last week’s Silverstone test featured Giedo van der Garde in a Spyker. This raised little interest at the time but was a very significant moment. Prior to this test Van der Garde was barred from testing for Spyker because he was under contract to Super Aguri F1 and could not get a superlicence unless Suzuki agreed. This the team refused to do because of the fight between Super Aguri and Spykeer over the question of chassis design. There were talks in Indianapolis to try to clear up the fight more…

Spyker bosses encouraged by Sutil pace
Spyker bosses were encouraged by the race pace displayed by Adrian Sutil in the US Grand Prix. The young German made a remarkable start to vault from the back row of the grid to 13th place and then held his own in the midfield group, staying with Alex Wurz’s Williams and keeping the chasing pack at bay. Although he later fell behind some drivers on a one-stop strategy, Sutil was satisfied with his afternoon’s work. “We had a solid base set-up and after a great start I could really more…

F1: Spyker drivers look ahead to Montreal
Do you feel the team made progress in Monaco? Christijan Albers: The gap to the others was smaller, for sure. We were not that far away in the race, it was a shame we could not finish, especially so close to the end. Monaco is a special track and the differences in cars are not so obvious, but I hope we can keep up like this for the rest of the season. Did you find any developments in the pre-event test in Ricard that you will be able to apply in Canada? CA: We did find some gains in more…

Sutil: Spyker improving all the time
Surprise Monaco star Adrian Sutil believes Spyker can carry the improved pace it showed at Monaco over to this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, despite the disparate nature of the circuits. The German, who stunned onlookers by setting the fastest time in Saturday’s wet free practice session in Monte Carlo, was encouraged by the Spyker’s race pace and says the target is now to finish ahead of the cars he was fighting with when he crashed out of the event. “We did see more…

      Kolles: Spyker’s future is secure
Spyker team boss Colin Kolles says that the Formula 1 squad will not be affected by the financial problems that parent company Spyker Cars has suffered in recent weeks. In Monaco it emerged that share prices in the Spyker car company had dropped dramatically after the firm had put its brand name up as security for a bank loan. A consortium including the Spyker owners bought the F1 team from Alex Shnaider’s Midland group last September. “The Formula 1 team’s security is not based on the more…

      Spyker pins hopes on 2008
Spyker technical director Mike Gascoyne has warned that it could take until next season for the team to show any significant improvement. The Dutch-owned squad will introduce an upgraded ‘B-spec’ car at the Turkish Grand Prix in August, but Gascoyne played down expectations of the revised chassis. “This should be a move forward but we shouldn’t pin our hopes too much on suddenly moving up the grid,” he more…

      Geneva: Spyker C12 Zagato
      24. No, that's not Kiefer Sutherlands favorite number, it's the number of units Spyker will build of this ultra limited-edition C12 Zagato. Designed in conjunction with the famed Zagato styling house that brought us such cars as the old Aston Martin DB4 Zagato and the newer Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Zagato Coupe, the C12 Zagato was designed in the wake of Spyker of acquiring the Midland Formula 1 team and therefore incorporates some F1 design cues into long and highly ornate body. Based on Spyker's flagship C12 model, the Zagato version uses a 6.0L W12 engine sourced from the only company in the world who makes those engines – Volkswagen. Here it produces 500bhp (a supercharger can be added that bumps power to 650bhp) and will launch the relatively lightweight (3,086 lbs.) C12 Zagato to 60 mph in a short 3.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 193 mph. From all reports, Spyker's handle about as well as a 1989 Chevy Silverado (we've never driven one ourselves, and probably won't
