Indians from the ancient times have regarded the sadhus and swamis as next to god and worshipped them. But, these days, various shameful acts committed by these so-called swamis certainly put a question mark on the authenticity of such persons.
FOR THE past one week, the people of Kerala have been treated to the juicy bits of two swamis’ profligacy and escapades. Every vernacular and English
Howard Dean articulated a point that directly refutes one the Obama campaign's core nomination arguments- namely that superdelegates are a bunch of elites plotting to overturn the will of the people, which currently is awarding the junior Senator from Illinois with a slim lead (currently 137, with 716 left to go per CNN) in pledged delegates. Via Meet the Press yesterday;MR. RUSSERT: The candidate with the most elected delegates is not guaranteed the nomination?DR. DEAN: The rules say that the candidate with the most delegates gets the nomination, and I support the rules.MR. RUSSERT: So that the superdelegates could, in effect, overrule the elected delegates?DR. DEAN: That, you know, you shouldn't think of it that way. So-called "superdelegates" are, in fact, elected by exactly the s
Photos of the new Sony Ericsson's Walkman prototype have hit the Internet. Possibly, it is a successor of the Sony Ericsson W880.The new Walkman is equipped with a front camera for video calls, which, most likely, speaks about support for 3G networks and 3.2 Mp back camera. As you can see the display is larger than that of the predecessor. Also it is known, that the device supports Memory Stick Micro (M2) cards and phone is determined in brown/gold color scheme.I think this is great info for Walkman fans and for those of W880.
New studies involving a cross section of society, have shown the following:78% people believe that statistics are only 34% reliable43% of people believe that 72% of statistics are between 67% and 87.05% reliablewhilst the remaining 13% of people are completely innumerate.Government targets aim to improve numeracy within 3 years or by 2012, whichever is sooner. Please remember, Spurious Statistics is only an occasional series, but you can read all of them from this link.
After the football frenzy at the weekend, the majority of the squad will be sold in the Summer if everyone’s wishes come true. Some hate Hleb, others Baptista, some Senderos, Rosicky, Clichy. In fact the only two whom nobody has shown any desire to dump are Fabregas and Toure. Which is a pretty sad state of affairs for the Support to be in. And extremely bad news for Arsene who is quoted on the official website as saying,
With the fans’ support we can beat Bolton
Well, Arsene is going to need some other inspiration for that because it seems to me that there is a vocal minority outrightly critical of the club and certain individuals and a passive majority who are despondent at recent results but otherwise happy. It is time for the majority to make more noise.
Transfer news is more plentiful at the moment. I say news, gossip is a better description. It seems that Yago Fernandez’s Mr 15% is telling porkies as Arsene claimed never to have even heard of the boy when asked
The start of an occasional new series.Statistics show that gullibility is now more common than it was seven years ago. If you know someone gullible, then treat them to one of our spurious statistics. For instance:In certain conditions of extreme cold, you can lose 10% of your body height through the top of your head. This is the reason that people indigenous to cold climate areas are not particularly tall.Sincerely,T4td Corp.Pulling the wool until it unravels.
I offer here an excellent article by Robert M. Price, that was originally published in the Fourth R and is chapter 23 or 24 of his book A Reason Driven Life. It is called The Inspiration and Authority of the Bible: A Critique. He begins:I love the Bible. I have devoted my life to the study of it. I wrote one Ph.D. dissertation on the various evangelical theories of Biblical authority, and a second one focusing on themes in Luke and Acts. None of this means my views must be correct. But it does show I do not approach this sensitive topic as an opponent of the Bible. Just the reverse. I disagree sharply with many Bible devotees, but we both love it and want to know it better. I want to suggest that, first, the claim that the Bible is divinely inspired is spurious; second, that it is pernicious; and, third, that it is moot. The Bible and our study of it will be better off without that claim. Read MoreI think this article nails it. The point is not to diss the Bible. The point is to
