That means - if I will have a good cooperation with the weather guy, I will make a bunch of interesting springtime photos. We have some plans about traveling around Latvia for some days with my family. Let's see what will come out.

It was a beautiful day on Sunday and I decided to take a walk to Hwaseong Fortress. Cherry blossoms were everywhere, snowing down on you as you walked. Children were trying to catch the petals as they fell to the ground. My picture taking skills have improved immensely. No, I didn't get a new camera. I decided to listen to what my husband has been telling me for months. The pictures turn out better if you keep you elbows down while taking them. He's right. I didn't have a blurry picture among all that I took. I should listen to him more often. I wasn't the only one taking advantage of the gorgeous day. {summary}Sorry for the unintentional blog vacation.  Rosco decided to acquire some weird teenage mutant ninja virus late last week and when he’s sick he makes great birth control because you question whether you can handle any more children if they’re going to be that whiny. So, I don’t really know much about the unidentified virus and a trip to the pediatrician and a $25 copay didn’t add to the wealth of knowledge.  All I know is that it started as a cough that lingered for a couple of weeks and then mutated into a 103.7 fever by Friday.  He was listless, cranky, and didn’t want to eat or drink.  He spent the weekend alternating between naps, brief stints of play, rubbing snot on things, and sitting on our laps.  Now he has a full-body rash. Today is the big springtime celebration in Tallahassee, Florida. It comes every year to welcome the community to my favorite time of the year, Spring. There will be a big parade downtown, and many vendors’ booths, music, and food, food, food. I met with a group of artist friends to paint at Teatown Lake Reservation in Ossining. The lake is best painted in spring before the foliage comes out. Once the trees and bushes leaf out, the lake views are obscured. Plus, the swans are there every spring and are good models! They have a nest near the bridge. I love this scene so much and have painted it many times. It presents lots of artistic challenges, so I go back every spring. Each year, I find I like my painting more than the year before. So I'm dying to bust out my girly skirts, capris, and cute sandals. Unfortunatley, here in Boston it is currently 40 degrees and has been "misting" for over a week now. Ever since Groundhog Day, Keri has eagerly been awaiting the arrival of Spring. “Mommy, how many more days until Spring?” After I tell her the number she then will reply, “That’s not too long, is it?” Over the last few weeks she excitedly has been pointing out all the signs she sees which indicate Spring is almost here. In the newspaper I read about people who have noticed cranes and people start to queuing for reparation of bicycles. Thats signs for the arrival of spring. Spring is a very special event for us in this northern part of the world. The winter was very long to mild. That gave us a strange feeling, that the threat of the climate really is a serious threat. Yesterday was Holi. Watching Holi celebrations makes me feel as if the entire city is taking part in a harlequinade. Though it is not all pantomime since the revelers are boisterous and more explicit in their gestures than mimics would be. I don’t participate in the revelry myself but I am told Holi is the festival of spring. I live in Peninsular India in a city by the sea where Nature sends only a lame apology for spring.
