Thursday Thirteen - Springtime is jumping time
We took out our moonwalk for the first time in over a year. Not exactly a simple task as this entailed lugging it outside, finding a hole the size of a mouse on the bottom, lugging it back in, going to Home Depot to buy some PVC cement, patching it, waiting a week for it to dry and finally setting it back up the next weekend (I assume there was no mouse inside, but we did run it with the exhaust

      Springtime and Fresh Food
I frequently mention to our readers here that I belong to an organic produce co-op. Honestly, I don’t think I could have made my switch to a vegetarian life without it. I am lucky to also live in an area where I can snatch up fresh produce pretty much year round. Never fear dear readers. Because I have found an entire directory of Farmers Markets for you all to browse and hunt through. www.farmersmarket.com They list the locations as well as the hours and time of year the markets are open. Now, would it be worth a drive for you to pick up your fresh produce form a farmers market? Why, of course it would. Depending upon how far that drive was. Here is the low down on Farmer’s Markets vs shopping for produce at a place like Walmart. Walmart has centrally located shipping centers. All

That means - if I will have a good cooperation with the weather guy, I will make a bunch of interesting springtime photos. We have some plans about traveling around Latvia for some days with my family. Let's see what will come out.

      Springtime in Suwon, South Korea
It was a beautiful day on Sunday and I decided to take a walk to Hwaseong Fortress. Cherry blossoms were everywhere, snowing down on you as you walked. Children were trying to catch the petals as they fell to the ground. My picture taking skills have improved immensely. No, I didn't get a new camera. I decided to listen to what my husband has been telling me for months. The pictures turn out better if you keep you elbows down while taking them. He's right. I didn't have a blurry picture among all that I took. I should listen to him more often. I wasn't the only one taking advantage of the gorgeous day. I have never seen cherry blossoms in person and they were truly breathtaking."Downtown" by Petula Clark always gets me going when I need it. I found this version

So, I don’t really know much about the unidentified virus and a trip to the pediatrician and a $25 copay didn’t add to the wealth of knowledge.  All I know is that it started as a cough that lingered for a couple of weeks and then mutated into a 103.7 fever by Friday.  He was listless, cranky, and didn’t want to eat or drink.  He spent the weekend alternating between naps, brief stints of play, rubbing snot on things, and sitting on our laps.  Now he has a full-body rash. Springtime Tallahassee has arrived
Today is the big springtime celebration in Tallahassee, Florida. It comes every year to welcome the community to my favorite time of the year, Spring. There will be a big parade downtown, and many vendors’ booths, music, and food, food, food. The Tallahassee sky is blue, the flowers are coming in, green is everywhere, and it is a beautiful day here in Leon County, northwest Florida. I have been working in the yard doing what I do every year: planting tomatos, peppers, peas, and cleaning around the blueberries which have green on them. They are looking good. This is also a good time for buyers to look at homes, and sellers to put their homes on the market. Tallahassee real estate estate is more stable th

      Springtime Cosmetic Surgery
Spring is here and at this time of year we do a lot of Los Angeles cosmetic surgery.  As people get ready for the summer, they begin to think of wedding, the beach, longer days, and bathing suits.  We see a lot of patients who want to improve their skin tone, get rid of unwanted pockets of fat, and fill out that bakini.  So we do a lot of skin resurfacing, Botox, liposuction, and breast augmentation.  When planning procedures, it's important to consider the recovery periods.  For skin resurfacing, your face might be red for up to a week.  Botox usually takes full effect in about five days.  Surgery takes longer for recovery.  For Beverly Hills liposuction, it really takes about a month to see the bulk of the results.  You might even look a bit more swollen for the first week or so following surgery.  For breast augmentation, the results can be seen right away.  But there will be some sweilling, and a small scar.  We recom

Once the trees and bushes leaf out, the lake views are obscured. Plus, the swans are there every spring and are good models! They have a nest near the bridge. I love this scene so much and have painted it many times. It presents lots of artistic challenges, so I go back every spring. Each year, I find I like my painting more than the year before. About More Than Just the Springtime
by Helen LosseIt is true the springtime flowershave blossomed forth, forsythia first, daffodils, followed by the Bradford Pear. Then the Dogwood. The azaleas—various kinds, colors—slowly staggertheir release of blossom over several weeks. And now lilies of the valley—perfect, lacy hanging bells—growon the north side of the house. It is true that tiny violets coveredmuch of the yard before our John Deeretractor moved them away and that two tender-hearted children rescued a sick, baby bird. They put it in a cage, unawarethat it might give them lice. Or worse yet,West Nile Virus. But this concerns morethan just the springtime. Much more thanthe flowers. More even than the baby bird,‘though I picture him still. This is to inform readers that in AugustShane and his buddies are going to bejet-planed to Iraq. Spring seems so far away.I've been looking at a lot of the new spring lines that are out and I have to say--I'm a fan. I mean, I'm a bit sad that leggings are still in the mix (even though I do own a pair--they just make my legs look like sausages). That said, I'm looking forward to all the great prints out there. Flower prints are supposed to be huge (as always in the spring) but this year, there are so many sophisticated patterns. Even Target has some great tops!Let the spring shopping begin!!!

The trees are starting to bloom, flowers are blossoming, the days are getting longer, the weather is trying to warm up and the birds are loudly chirping. I finally asked her why she wants Spring to come so badly and she exclaimed, “So I can go to the wading pool.” I then had to break her little heart and tell her since we live in the Pacific Northwest, we probably won’t be visiting any wading pools until summer time. However, we then talked about some activities we can do in the Spring. Here are some of the suggestions from our joint brainstorming session. 1. Fly a kite. 2. Plant some seeds. 3. My definitive sign for springtime
In the newspaper I read about people who have noticed cranes and people start to queuing for reparation of bicycles. Thats signs for the arrival of spring. Spring is a very special event for us in this northern part of the world. The winter was very long to mild. That gave us a strange feeling, that the threat of the climate really is a serious threat. But then the winter gave a bite of real coldness, and we forgot the climatechanges.(If you understand Swedish  you can read about that here.) Well, I am aware that we have to do something around the world if we want to protect the earth for coming generations. But today I anyhow enjoy the wonderful arrival of the spring. The sun shines, the heaven is blue and it is not varm yet, but not cold any longer. And I went for the first walk in the forest this year. We have a special track in the forest outside. I walk along this path three-four times every week during spring and summer. It is still some snow there, but it is melting awa

      Holi and Springtime
Yesterday was Holi. Watching Holi celebrations makes me feel as if the entire city is taking part in a harlequinade. Though it is not all pantomime since the revelers are boisterous and more explicit in their gestures than mimics would be. I don’t participate in the revelry myself but I am told Holi is the festival of spring. I live in Peninsular India in a city by the sea where Nature sends only a lame apology for spring. Which reminds me of what I was thinking around this time about a year back.
