You can easily avoid those situation by password protecting your spreadsheets. As almost everything related to Office 2007, password protecting is easy but very different than in previous versions.
Here is the quick process:
Create your Excel 2007 spreadsheet.
Click the Microsoft Office Icon.
Click Save As and pick Excel Workbook.
Click the Tools button (in the lower left side of the Save as prompt).
Click General Options.
Set a password to open and modify your spreadsheet.
Click OK and reenter your password.
Note: If you lose or forget your password you won’t be able to recover it. Make sure that you keep the password in a safe place.

Google Docs and Spreadsheet has new collaborative option which enables you invite others to view or edit your files. You can also allow collaborators to invite others or let the invites to be used up by anyone, which comes in handy if you want to share the information across a large mailing list. You can invite people either as viewers or collaborators. Previously, viewers needed a Google account before they could view your information, but now they’ve remove this requirement, so that Google Docs and Spreadsheet users can share their information with other non-Google users. This is not the same, if you’ve invited them as collaborators. Collaborators can view your doc or spreadsheet, but they’ll still need Google Account, if they want to edit it. Finally, we see the gap widening between Microsoft Office and Google Docs service. If you've protected Excel documents before, you may have run into the issue where you wanted to protect most of the spreadsheet, but allow users to modify particular sections. Here's how you can allow certain parts of the spreadsheet to be editable: Let's say I have a simple table of numbers going down from 1 to 5 in one column and then I have 3 columns where I multiply each number by 10, 20 or 30. Now let's say I want to allow the users of my little Excel sheet to be able to change the number (1-5), but not modify anything else (such as the formulas). In order to do this, select the range that you want to allow to be editable, right click on the cells and go to Format Cells. Click on the Protection tab and uncheck the Locked check box. Now that those cells are "unlocked", we'll go ahead and protect the sheet. Protecting the sheet does not affect unlocked cells and therefore allows you to create partially modifiable spreadsheets. In a race I was watching closely... Fox News has just called Florida 13 for the Republican Buchanan with 96% of the precincts reporting. This one was projected for Jennings the challenger by Novak, Elliot, Sabato and pretty much everyone else. I believe that they were spooked by Majority Watch and Democratic pollsters... I feel better about my decision not to go strictly with the polls. Of course it's a long night and I could go wrong down the line.
