"For more than two decades, researchers have been studying the chemical--a protein called alpha-CaM kinase II--for its role in learning and memory consolidation. To better understand the protein, a few years ago, Joe Tsien, a neurobiologist at the Medical College of Georgia, in Athens, created a mouse in which he could activate or inhibit sensitivity to alpha-CaM kinase II."Tsien’s research show

Area DChangi AirportSingapore918141 is it?Changi Singapore is a maze of a place. No, that’s not strictly accurate. It’s actually easy to find everything once you realise its scale because the signage is fantastic. However, it is huge and has lots of gadget shops that are really very interesting and, quite frankly, distracted me from the task of finding the next plane.Add to this that I came to
Make Your Car Spotless with Waterless Car Wash TechniquesThe most common technique, when washing cars and other vehicles, is done with the use of water and car wash products. You either do this right at your own garage, or you drive your car to the nearest car wash shop. Some car experts say that your vehicle will get destroyed, when you have it washed with water constantly. If you are wondering h

Cleaning a bath or shower stall is unpleasant work that must be done too often. Because such stalls are fairly compact, painful bumps and bruises can happen through this work. Then, after all the cleaning and wiping is done, the grout, plastic, and metal-parts of the stall can still become permanently spotted or soiled.

Happy Saturday! This Saturday's favorite movie moment is a video clip of the most romantic and heartbreaking scenes in the movie, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, with Bob Dylan singing 'Most Of The Time' in the background. If you haven't seen Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, you should definitely rent it- it's one of those films everyone can relate too, I promise.Have a happy, fun, dreamy, and if possible, romantic week-end - and remember: if romance is not in the picture right now, to have a happy, dreamy, and fun week-end anyway- because the way I see it, three out of four isn't bad- "Most of the Time" anyhow. :))TEXT

I've been watching a bunch of idiots defending this officer because the kid was "mouthing off." No ... the kid was asking legitimate questions that officers should be required to answer, and in some states are required to do so. In any case, it is unnacceptable for an officer to man handle anyone that way, especially a minor, unless they are a threat. One of the arguments used by the nitwits to defend officer Rivieri is that he has a spotless record. Well, someone else has come forward with a year old video of the officer in question pushing him around as well. I encourage you to watch it here.Apparently officer Rivieri has one hell of a temper, and likes picking on anyone who doesn't walk in a strait line while having eyes forward. Does that sound like any other historical polic
I can honestly say that I wish the scientific breakthrough featured in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was real. The scientific breakthrough I speak of is the ability for specially trained technicians to completely erase the memories of a specific person in your life, AKA targeted memory erasure. This is of course done when a relationship turns sour. The possibility of not knowing the pain of losing someone you love is quite appealing to any and all who have lost. It is done in such a way that you don't even know it ever happened. However, Eternal Sunshine also teaches us the grand lesson that it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all, as Joel fights tooth and nail to cling to any memory of his beloved Clementine.I miss you.
As the names of everyone involved slide down the screen and singer Beck can be heard performing a version of Everybody Got To Learn Sometimes, which was especially recorded for the film, you slowly try to recover from the stream of images that flashed by your eyes and that make up the wonderful weirdness of what is Eternal Sunshine Of the Spotless Mind. Directed by Michael Gondry and featuring another original and very inventive screenplay by the genius that is Charlie Kaufman, Eternal Sunshine starts off by showing us two characters who meet at a train. One of them is the blue-haired Clementine Kruzcynski, a young feisty woman, the other, Joel Barish, a slightly neurotic thirtysomething. Marvelously played by both Jim Carrey, who can be seen in one of his what can be called more 'serious' roles, and Kate Winslet, with a spot-on American accent, the two characters seem attracted to one another, not at all aware of the history they already share together. With fast paced cutting, a pe
I've previously mentioned that I consider The Godfather to be the best movie of all time. However, that by no means makes it my favorite movie. That title currently belongs to a much under appreciated film called Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Directed by the same guy who brought us another trippy less well known but one of my favorite films in The Science of Sleep, Michael Gondry, Eternal Sunshine is filled with the same imagination and whimsy that many directors would kill for. Gondry is lucky enough to be able to work with an all-star cast including one of the late 20th/early 21st century's greatest comedians Jim Carrey, who knocks it out of the park in this sci-fi dramedy. The cast also includes Kate Winslet as Carrey's love interest, Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Elijah Wood, and the always hilarious David Cross. The movie starts off with Carrey's character Joel waking up and going through the motions of another crummy ho-hum day. Something inside him decides to be
My mother's house was , for the strictest standards, what you could define spotless. Many fanatic people oblige you to change your shoes when you go and come from the garden. My mother did more. She built a shower. You not only had to change shoes, you also had to wash and change before entering. My dog was not welcome in the house. He was intelligent enough to understand it.He tried to enter and after being scolded and shouted a few times he went to the door and touched it asking to go out.For that day he had enough. The books in the bookshelf had to be covered with paper of the same color. To easily find them you had to glue a little withe label with a number. The number was registered on a book with the title of it.You had to check this book in order to find what you were looking for.But in most cases that was useless. If you had a visual memory for its size, you could easily find it: all books were ordered by their size, from the bigger to the smaller. And beware to move them! The bathtub an

A brief article in Popular Science caught my eye because of its almost science fiction type appeal. In the article "The Spotless Mindâ€, Alain Brunet, a clinical psychologist at McGill University, is making an attempt to erase old memories. Basically he has been doing research on patients with PTSD by inducing them to recall painful memories, and then giving them the drug propranolol. Propranolol is a 25 year old hypertension drug that blocks stress hormones. It has been proven that if propranolol is administered after a traumatic event the memories themselves can be less emotional and less vivid. Brunet is trying to take this to the next level by trying to lessen old memories. I found this interesting because one, the amazing way our brains work, and two, the fact that one day we may be able to take a pill and erase our memories. As with anything this research could eventually lead to great things, but with some possible negative implications. Obviously usage would have to

He implements a awe-inspiring blend of style to a story that is perfectly non-linear. But then there is also the madman genius of the current screen writing plane- Charlie Kaufman- who has written three of the most ingenious, funny, and human of "little" Hollywood m
A couple of Sundays ago me, my sister and two of my sister-in-laws threw a wedding shower here at my house. My brother is getting married in a few weeks and we wanted to give a warm welcome to my future sister-in-law, something to redeem ourselves after an incident where her teenaged daughter was unintentionally subjected to a recent dinner conversation between me and some of my family members. That would be the one where we were discussing the movie Borat, specifically the naked fight scene in the hotel and about what the fat guy's genitals might possibly look like. The shower went off without a hitch, but I'm still trying to recover. Not from the event itself, but from the countless hours of prep beforehand, the frenzy that precedes any instance where people will be entering my home and in my mind, judging me mercilessly on the placement of my couch cushions and the number of scuff marks on my walls. It's as if I can hear them saying to each other after they've left, "You kno
