Spenders just don't give a crap about consequences
Savers have strength, character and patience to devise a plan and follow it.In the short run, spenders are having a ball. Savers feel the pain upfront, but have more comfort in the long run.So is it bad for me to say: I want both.I don't want either/or. I want both! Fun now and fun later. Please give me your best advice in having both, am I being to shallow or is it possible? When I say I want it bo

      Google attracts the bigger spenders?
As much as most high-quality SEOers (those who practice search engine optimization “honorably”) like to think of their pursuit as pure and intellectual, the fact of the matter is that search engine optimization is a form of marketing, no matter how you approach it. Perhaps short of nonprofit organizations and the occasional Internet artist, people interested [...]

New Hampshire Rep. Paul Hodes (D) Named one of USA Today’s Worst Pork Barrel Spenders
Cross posted at Grizzly Groundswell  Congratulations are in order for New Hampshire’s second district representative. He took home a well deserved and hard fought award last week. He was named by USA Today as one of the worst pork barrel spending representatives in the House. Congratulations Paul Hodes, you must be proud.  Paul Hodes and Carol Shea-Porter ( New Hampshire’s First district, and my, representative) promised to reign in wasteful government spending, yet Paul Hodes has brought it to another level. GOP Chairman Fergus Cullen: “After earning the distinction as one of the worst pork-barrel spenders in Congress, it seems that Representative Paul Hodes has found his very own ‘bridge to nowhere.’ This is exactly the kind of project that wastes of taxpayer dollars and adds to the federal budget deficit.”  That was New Hampshire GOP chairman Fergus Cullen’s response after it was learned that Paul Hodes had entrenched himself in his new pork

Low Cost Airlines Bring In 2007 Big Spenders Official statistics have shown the holiday island of Malta has enjoyed a ten per cent rise in arrivals this year compared to last. Low cost airlines started flying to Malta in November 2006, and as well as showing the rise in visitors, the figures show that the tourists haven't diluted the amount spent per person. A Single Parent Finds A Way To Teach Her Kids About Being "Savers" vs. "Over-Spenders"
As a widowed/single parent, I wanted to find a way to financially educate my children and to teach them to be savers first, not over-spenders. Like most children, mine would immediately start whining about wanting everything they saw in the stores and begging me to buy those things. So I decided to start giving my children an allowance to minimize the "I want monster" when we go to stores. But, not just any old allowance! I explained to them that each week I would give them their allowance, but not in the form of cash... but a check. We would go to the bank each week, fill out a savings deposit ticket (which they do, I supervise) and deposit most of the check. They need to give $1 per week in the offering at church; they would also need to deposit, at minimum, half of the check. The remain

      Big spenders…
The one thing I noticed about Prague, apart from the beautiful buildings, the great food, the even better beer, the friendly people, the hundreds of guided tours, the music concerts, the museums…apart from all that, the price of everything raised an eyebrow. It was cheap compared to here in Basel. In some of the touristy/stag bar areas there were beers advertised for 22 Czech Koruna (~ €1, $1.2)! Thats not a lot! When I moved to Switzerland I was warned by everyone, including people who’d never been to Switzerland that it was expensive here. Switzerland has always had this stereotype of a high standard of living and expensive products. And it’s true but I’m not sure its any worse than Dublin or London or Paris. The advantage of living in Basel is that you can nip across the borders to get cheaper prices on things. Germany is the place to go for cheap meat, France for cheap wine etc. So, you can still live frugally in Switzerland, just don’t go out eatin

Brits biggest holiday spenders in Europe
The British spend more on holidays than any other European nations, with an average spend per holiday of 2795 euros/£1744.  However British holiday expenditure has fallen by around 7% since last year.  The British are also more likely to book their trip online with 51% booking on the internet compared with an average of 39% in the rest of Europe. photo by Daniel Dainty  I wonder why the British spend more on holidays?  Is it maybe because they are more willing to take on debt or they feel wealthy because of the continuing increase in house prices?
