I was approached by five different homeless folk on my way home last night. Each recited some variation on the question of whether I had any spare change, and if so, whether I'd be willing to part with it on their behalf. I stuck with the same strategy each time, mumbling something about not having any money and heading on my way.
It's not often that I carry around loose change, so it's typically a legitimate excuse. But I did have some last night, yet I still didn't give anything away. It's just too easy to argue that it's my money, and I shouldn't feel required to provide handouts every time someone comes up and asks for "whatever I can spare."

Salah satu isi RUU Komponen Cadangan adalah mengenai wajib militer bagi warga negara berusia di atas 18 tahun. Menurut Agung, soal wamil ini sebaiknya bersifat imbauan, bukan kewajiban.

Harrowing. Wednesday night's Crimewatch showed images of the probable killer of Rhys Jones, the 11-year-old lad shot dead in Liverpool last month. As I thought, the installation of the basic driver set for the HP PSC2355 worked fine, just had to uninstall about a gig’s worth of half-installed other HP software first.
I was told the other day that someone I knew started a contract with a UK merchant bank in the city and he resigned after 2 weeks. Now this person does have a certain history of suddenly becoming available on the market place but he usually lasts several months, not 2 weeks so there may be something in his story. Apparently they were a bit petty minded. He was allowed to receive internet email but could not send internet email and a whole load of other feeble restrictions. I’m sure they could come up with good reasons for that but can you imagine what a lousy atmosphere there must be there. Another one of those sites when as soon you as you start you are on your way out. Not dissimilar to the US bank I mentioned where they are always looking for reasons to fire people. Terrific.

The first thing you notice about Rebecca is.....she is a big woman. Not big Rosanne style, but big powerful. She has an "aura" about her in a flirtatious fun loving way and a magnificent mane of red hair that cascaded over her shoulders. She also has a contagious smile and (like Rachy) a razor sharp wit. He heckled the model after she breezed straight past him into a trendy New York hotel.
When she put her head down without signing, the schoolboy, who had been waiting all day to see her, turned and shouted “Can I at least have some coke?”

The model was infamously branded “Cocaine Kate” in 2005 after pictures in the Mirror showed her snorting drugs at a music studio.
Her relationship with serial drug offender, musician Pete Doherty, has also raised eyebrows as he has lurched from drug convictions to spells in rehabilitation.
Kate, 33, has been in New York to launch her clothing range at the city’s upmarket Barneys store. One onlooker said: “It was quite bizarre to see one of the world’s most famous women being heckled by a fresh-faced schoolboy.”

Another question for Eric emerges, same theme as I’m my last post… the eastern ideas of enlightenment, and the psychological ideas on positivity seem to go against the notion of the unconscious, Jung’s notion of embracing the shadow in particular. Eric, what do you make of that?

One of my favorite daily reads is English Russia. It is a blog about life in Moscow and other parts of Russia. Speaking as an old Cold Warrior I like being able to visit, at least virtually, my old adversaries and talk reasonably with them.
