Pinellas school superintendent Clayton Wilcox is no longer recommending the closure of Southside Fundamental Middle School in St. Petersburg. The decision was announced today at the start of an all-day School Board workshop on a new student assignment plan for the district. Previously, the plan called for closing Southside primarily as a  cost-saving measure and merging it with nearby Thurgood Marshall Fundamental Middle. As soon as independent comic creator and publisher Mike Sales (AKA M Torez) said the words “single mom superhero”, I had to buy all three issues of Southside Nefertiti. Didn’t need to preview it or look past the cover because Nefertiti Jones was already a superhero I could get behind. When it comes to posting individual tracks for an artist’s album I usually just post one or two, its pretty easy to differentiate the good tracks from the bad as I try to keep the quality level at NWS high as possibly. But Common’s “Finding Forever” is something else, as of today, theres about 6 or so joints from his album, all deserving of their own posts too. I didn’t think with primarily Kanye producing Com’s album it would be possible for him to drop another on par with “Like water for Chocolate“, (becuase J Dilla put his foot in that album, R.I.P.). Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes were the second band after Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band to emerge from the New Jersey shore scene, and though they carried over a significant influence (and some key personnel) from their predecessors, they were a more generic white R&B horn band in the Memphis Stax Records tradition. The group was organized in 1974 by singer John Lyon (b. December 4, 1948, Neptune, NJ) and guitarist/songwriter "Miami" Steve Van Zandt (b. November 22, 1950, Boston). Van Zandt decamped for the E Street Band in 1975, but he continued to direct the Jukes, managing them, writing their songs, and producing their records. The original Jukes lineup was: Billy Rush (b.
