28.6 - 2008 One bullish case as Sothebys. Actually I spot some much more agressive candidates, but better to post these a bit more secure cases. While many charts of mine has been more focused for actual EW science & research & wondering, these most recent charts are expectations now, they should offer actual immediate main direction - if not, then I am crab coder ;).I packet some extra, b

The firm also announced a $12.4m fall in income (profits) for this period; last year its profits rose by $24.3m for the same quarter.2 Vote(s)

Edward Weston, Charis on the Dunes, Platinum Print, 1936An unusual stash of about 40 black- and-white photographs by Edward Weston and Brett Weston are on sale at a Sotheby's auction in New York on April 8. The more than 40 photographs by Edward Weston and the nine photographs by his son Brett were given originally to Mary Weston Seaman, Edward Weston’s sister, beginning in the 1910s and continuing through the 1940s. Mary Weston Seaman stored them on the closet floor of her bungalow bedroom in Glendale, California. "They were dusty and dirty and wrapped in brown paper and string,'' remembered grandson John W. Longstreth, who acquired them after her death. The photographs include representatives of all of the photographic styles that Weston embraced in his long and influential career: th

HUGE mistake by Sotheby’s !!!
It has recently come to my attention that Sotheby’s in the UK have introduced a minimum value for works that they will auction of £3000 which is in line with their move away from the middle-range auctions with the discontinuation of their lower-value Kensington Olympia sales to concentrate on the top end of the market. Beyond the fact that Sotheby’s are trailing behind Christies in market share there are many reasons why Sotheby’s are making a huge mistake, such as:
-Sotheby’s already have a reputation as a bit of a snobby company so by introducing a minimum value they are alienating potential future clients.
-It is quite common for clients of auction houses to have lesser value works of art to sell as well as high value works so Sotheby’s is in danger of loosing these clients.
-Many people who sell art through auction have artworks in their homes that they do not realise the value of so by having a minimum

A painting by Belgian Impressionist Adrien Jean Le Mayeur de Merpres was the top sale at Sotheby's auction of Southeast Asian art in Singapore yesterday, which raised two-thirds more than expected. Le Mayeur's ``Lecon de Tissage'' (Weaving Lesson), part of a series painted in Bali, Indonesia, between 1937 and 1941, sold for S$600,000 ($394,776) including buyer's commission, equaling its high estimate, according to Sotheby's. The one-day sale of more than 130 lots took a total of S$8.3 million, compared with a presale estimate of about S$5 million, as demand increased for contemporary works. ``Lecon de Tissage,'' typical of the style Le Mayeur developed in Bali, depicts four topless Balinese maidens around a loom. Other highlights from the modern session included a painting by Romulado Locatelli, ``Young Dancer and Drummer,'' and Isaac Israels' ``Gamelan Orchestra,'' both of which sold for S$540,000, according to Sotheby's Web site.
Not such a Shaggy Story Hi all,So, something that in a cynical world brings a much needed slice of hope. The above pictures of dogs are by stars ranging from Ricky Gervais to Paul McCartney. All inspired by a picture of a dog drawn on a scrap of paper by a five-year-old boy Jensen Parsons, which he named Boil(top left) for his stepfather Simon Freedman. Now, Simon 40, an osteopath (whose patients include a clutch of A-list celebs), hung the picture on the wall of his swanky London practice and before he knew it stars aplenty were queuing up to do their own versions. Thus from such small acorns… Simon then contacted Great Ormond Street Hospital with the his grand idea which has ended with theses pictures being auctioned off at Sotheby's to raise funds for the hospital. Follow this story in detail at http://www.dogproject.co.uk/As I've always said, you just can't make this up. Great Stuff!Catch you laterShirley
