      Sony announces PS3-exclusive Rockstar franchise
      Gamespot.com reports: SCEA’s director of third-party relations, Michael Shorrock, wrote on the official US PlayStation blog, “As part of our long standing relationship with Rockstar, and the incredible success for both companies with the cultural icon that is Grand Theft Auto we’ve agreed to the PlayStation exclusive rights of the next great franchise from the Rockstar studios.” Nothing whatsoever was revealed about the new franchise except the clarification that it would not be LA Noire. This is a good move for Sony.  The GTA series is what really propelled the PS2 into homes.  It was what prompted me to go buy one (and a month later, prices dropped… figures). Hopefully it will be a strong title from Rockstar.  Most are, but then they came out with that ping-pong game and they lost a bit of street cred with me. Full Story

      No readers, Sony isn’t introducing yet another type of laptop. The Vaio Type-R is a desktop computer aimed for media professionals with top-range specifications in all aspects and a sleek, although slightly outdated, design. In terms of specifications, this machines will be available with either a Core 2 Duo or a Core 2 Duo Extreme processor, 3GB of RAM and a choice between 4 graphics card, including the relatively new Geforce 8600. The Operative System also matches the rest of the specifications, at least in terms of price. It’s the Windows Vista Ultimate edition. Another interesting aspect about this computer setup is that it comes with a Sony LCD monitor, and I thought they weren’t making them anymore.

      Sony Announces Its First Wireless Digicam Although some big names have banked on wireless digital cameras going mainstream—namely, Kodak, Nikon, and Canon—Sony has opted to stay disconnected from the trend, at least until today. Sony launched its first wireless digital point-and-shoot ultracompact camera, the six-megapixel Cyber-shot DSC-G1, which will be able to use an infrastructure connection to 802.11b and g networks to send images over Wi-Fi networks. Sony also claims the camera will also be able to communicate (via peer-to-peer or ad-hoc connections) with other Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-enabled devices, such as another camera or a PC.
