Julie and I went to the Waco-McLennan County Library on Saturday. We both checked out some books to supplement our summertime reading. Julie wanted to watch a movie over the weekend. You know, something light and entertaining. The movie she got was "War & Peace". Oh well, it doesn't really matter. After we left the library we were driving along Austin Avenue going towards the "Square". As we

The Diamante (dea-man-ta) is a poetry pattern invented by Iris M. Tiedt. It is a style of poetry that is made up of six or seven lines which usually is in a form of a diamond when aligned centered. I just gave try and composed quite a few poems. I tried my best with it [...]
The new 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL Class is full of changes. These vehicles represent a return to the roots of the famous line. After several years at the top of the luxury market, the new SL Class is sleeker and sportier, more reminiscent of the Gullwing and other early SL designs that set a standard in [...]
And I’m not talking about Real Estate!
In addition to working with a handful of active buyers and helping several sellers get their homes ready to go on the market in the next couple of months, I’ve been working on a few new projects over the last several weeks. One of these projects is The Avenues Blog. [...]
The “90210″ spinoff is expected to be the central piece of the CW network’s “upfront” programming presentation to advertisers in mid-May. 90210,” is using the traditional formula of a spinoff, featuring a character or two, from the original series to garner a larger audience.
Jennie Garth joined the cast of the CW’s “Beverly Hills, 90210″ sp
Now that I've succesfully completed my 10K program I feel strangely lost. What do I do now? It's a bit like the feeling you get as a mom, when you and your children enter a new phase of their development. Gone are the familiar routines, and you have to find your way again. When your youngest starts preschool for example. Suddenly you find yourself with a lot of free time on your hands, and no where to put it! Not to mention the moment when your children leave the nest. They don't call it the Empty Nest Syndrome for nothing. But just like a running programme that ends, the end of a phase in your life as a mom offers the opportunity for something new, something different. So I've decided to build on my 10K accomplisments and go and train for a 10 miler, and you can do the same as a mom. Everyth
There are lots of factors that gets in the way of most couples to make sex less exciting as time goes by. Using the same positions every time and building up an unshakable routine sometimes becomes so tiring. The fact that life tends to dampen enthusiasm in the long run, it is a good idea that couples should try some new variations --- especially in getting terms with intimacy.Variation can easily

The motorola mc70 handheld computer has been recently introduced and may be of special interest to businesses. In particular, it has applications with small businesses and construction. It features a bar code scanner in a compact, mobile form, making it easy to take on site or to carry around the store. Bar codes are not just used for retail anymore, but to keep track of every package opened for a project as well. Put it on your list of things to research when looking to handle business more efficiently. Tom's Citrus County Real Estate Blog is published

We have more or less come to the end of the fairground season. Some of our catering units are still attending corporate events but most of the children's attractions are undergoing a welcome rest. We have just begun the first phase of refurbishing a section of our childrens attractions. There are two main thrusts to this work, firstly all of the motors and control systems are being replaced with new state of the art fully automatic controllers. The reasons for this is to improve reliability, although we have never had a breakdown at any of our corporate events, the older rides have begun to need regular remedial work to keep some of the motors running. With the new systems everything will have a standard controller that will be interchangeable so only 1 type of spare parts will be needed.

A long time art print indutry veteran recently joined the ranks of art business bloggers. His name is Myron Arndt. With his list of accomplishments and breadth of knowledge, he is sure to add value to the conversation about how to help the art market, prints in particular, navigate the choppy waters surrounding it today.
An example of the valuable information Myron is publishing on his Art Business Thoughts blog is his recent post titled, Art Submission Tips. It provides insights for artists on how to properly present themselves to a publisher. One of his ventures is Island Art Publishers. From this vantage point he offers firsthand knowledge, wisdom and tips for artists considering working with a a publisher. Check him out, you'll be glad you did.
I would love to see more art print publishers join the ranks of bloggers. It would be good for them and great for the industry and artists to have them publishing their thoughts and sharing their treasure trove of
The UFC is doing something different this time. UFC 79 is being held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas Nevada on December 29th 2007. Although it’s taking place on the West Coast, the East Coast will have the ability to watch the event live at Madison Square Garden on Big Screen TV’s. Matt Serra will be hosting the “VIP Party”, ticket prices will be $30.
So what do you think? Would you go to an arena to watch a UFC event on a big screen tv with a ton of other people? Or would you just pay the money for PPV on your home TV?
Ok, so Brian Hoskins from Beacon is my current knight in shining armor. He came, he slew the furnace problem, he didn't charge me, he showed me how to slap it around if it happens again. He's a freakin' rock star. And, he donned me queen of the furnace -- he said he has never seen a furnace so bizarre -- the engineering sucks, apparently. Faulty fucking inducer valve or some shit. What to the ever...I'll just put on my crown (which, apparently was a requirement when I was being potty trained -- of course, duh)and sit in my warm house. Until the freakin' power goes out from a wind storm.Until then, you may call me Qu-a-FF... queen of the fucking furnace... thank you very much.tra la la laHope you are surviving the winter, wherever you are...

Something came up for something that happened a long time ago. Not such a great memory, but I don't think I can get to where I am without it. It leaves me wondering about things that I should've done. Would it have turned out differently if I handled it a different way?
Maybe listening to other's opinions and suggestions aren't that bad after all...
News is not exactly new technology, but when personal computers came along, and then widespread networking, it created a whole new playing field for news, that has shaken things up for most of my life. Change comes in fits at starts. First there was the web, then RSS, and now I think we're on the cusp of another bit of change. If you want to see what I think it looks like, check out the home page of nytimesriver.com. But that's not the end of the story. A flat completely chronologic view of news probably isn't enough. And earlier this month at a meeting in NY, two engineers at the NY Times set me off in a new direction, with a very simple bit of advice. They told me to look in the HTML source code of their stories. When I did I saw they had applied a taxonomy to their news flow, and this opened the door to what I would like to show you today -- an outline view of the news. http://nytimesriver.com/outline/ I believe it's fairly self-explanatory. The topics are arranged in order of fr
The stock market celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the crash of ’87 with a 2.5% decline on Friday. Unlike 1987, the market averages are still up 6 – 8% for the year. Not surprisingly, the financial sector is the exception, being down about 9% for the year, with many financial stocks trading at prices approaching their August lows. Last week, the market reacted to some old news and some new news.
The old news was financial institutions reporting poor third quarter results. No surprise here. This was expected because of the mortgage, securitization, and residential real estate market problems. And, when a company knows it’s going to have a bad quarter it writes-off/down as much as possible, takes as many reserves as possible, to better position itself foe the future. I suspect this went on with the financials. Caterpillar’s results showed weak domestic demand and strong foreign demand. No surprise here, e

I don't usually Blog about technology type of stuff because I am not that at all interested in the subject. But I happened to stumble across this web surfing application and found it to be really interesting. It is called MEDIUM and it is used to due virtual group web surfing. What this means is that while your surfing the net, others can follow you to see what your looking at, as well as you can follow others and see what they are looking at.What this effectively does is make web surfing more human...Because your having real contact with people who are doing the same thing.....Surfing the net. Medium also allows you to have conversations with people while surfing, which enhances the web sharing experience. I see this as a way to surf the net with friends, making web site sharing a very easy thing to do.At first when you join Medium...it feels a little creepy, because there are people popping in to view what your looking at....kind of like following you around! But once you get in the
Yesterday as well as Saturday was a bad day for me. For the first time after I had cycled from my house to the church, I felt terrible. I saw darkness and my heart hurt. I quickly sat down to rest at the kerb for some time. I have not had this kind of experience before. After that, my energy level was low. Nevertheless, the children went to classes and Richard and me went to Marsiling to eat breakfast. We do not go Woodgrove this time. We went to Woodlands Avenue 1, opposite Singapore American School. The chicken rice is very nice there. We always buy Chicken rice there. Every Saturday the children will eat the Chicken rice from the stall too. Today we tried some other food from the food court. I had no appetite. I walked around and decide to buy either duck porridge or noodle soup. I would want to eat Bee Hoon Soup, but they do not have. So in the end I ask for Duck Guo Tiao Soup. I ask for more bean sprouts. Richard ordered big prawns noodles.
Starting something new on the blog-a monthly (possibly bi-monthly) post round up consisting of various posts, poems, general writings, that catch my eye in some way. This will probably replace the 'articles and posts of note' thing I was doing earlier.

Ok, so I didn’t know the Braves got a draft pick for Mazzone going to Baltimore. And they used that draft pick to draft a pitcher. That pitcher being Felix Hernandez’s older brother, who seems to be doing just fine for himself.
The Braves took pitcher Moises Hernandez, 23, and it is looking like a shrewd [...]
In fact, the expression “to blow smoke up her ass” comes from the practice of imparting tobacco smoke into the rectum of a fainting woman in attempts to revive her.
I did not know that!

11 days more to go before our girl hits the slammers…the mere thought is terrifying! Wonder what’s going on with the FreeParis.org movement?
And what we want to know is…has there been an appeal sent to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s office yet?
Anyways, our girl was spotted hitting the gym Thursday and guess what…
She adopted a cat!
Yup, Paris adopted a black cat at Judy’s Pet Depot. The mischievous feline escaped a few hours later, though, but Paris’ female friend was able to retrieve it. Whew!
We wonder what name Paris gave the cutie one?
Check out the pictures HERE.
Paris was also spotted celebrating at the HYDE as Hollywood’s top nightspot celebrated its first anniversary. At least our girl was able to get out of the house and have fun!
She was also spotted with her parents this week.
Looks like she’s been so busy doing a lotta stuff before her 23-day stay at county jail.
A couple of photos from the Summerfolk programme. (Olivier Theatre, 1999)There are also a couple of lovely ones from last month's Leonard Lopate radio interview. One with the host, and one mid-broadcast. It must have been a busy weekend, as the next day the ATW seminar was filmed! Again, the schedule for that can be found here. Roll on April 22nd!On first glance, the aforementioned Summerfolk bares quite a few Utopian resemblances. Firstly, it is all about nineteenth and early twentieth century Russia. Secondly, Ms Ehle's character was called Varvara, and thirdly, the programme even refers to Belinsky at one point. Small world. Here is a nice KPBS interview from last year with Jack O'Brien. (Who looks most different minus the specs!)Extensive, accurate stage resumes for key members of the Utopia gang can be found on Broadway.com. There is also the odd amusing quote. Martha Plimpton describes herself as 'just kind of an actor', while Richard Easton gives some valuable (if potential

So I’m going over entries at Baseball Musings and find an interesting article on Baltimore Orioles outfielder Nick Markakis. After reading, which really it is a good story and suggest you read it as well. As I curled my hair this morning it occurred to me that I have lived in Colorado for nearly 19 years. We started out in Fort Collins before my fifth grade year and I stayed there until Babe graduated late 2002. Since then we have lived in Denver and currently reside in Aurora, a suburb of Denver. The mountains are great, when you actually make time to go up there, the weather is nice, winter
