I went sketching at Somerset House with the Friends of the Bankside Gallery/RWS three weeks ago. These are the remaining sketches from that trip.
I should explain that it drizzled virtually non-stop all the time. I tried working outside but my sketchbook hates water and started to ripple so virtually all of what I did was done from indoors!

This is a photo of Somerset House, a large building situated on the south side of the Strand in central London, overlooking the River Thames, just east of Waterloo Bridge. The central block of the Neoclassical building, the outstanding project of the archistect Sir William Chambers, dates from 1776–96. It was extended by classical Victorian wings to north and south. More than 2,000 movie buffs attended the world premiere of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Chak de India’, a film on women’s hockey in India, at the famous Somerset House here.

THE second double century of Cameron White's career put Somerset in a strong position on the opening day of their English County Championship match with arch-rival Gloucestershire at Taunton.
Coming in at 3-65 after the visitors had won the toss, the 23-year-old Australian batted with great maturity to score an unbeaten 201 off 282 balls with a six and 28 fours to help his side to 6-412 at the close.
White received good support from James Hildreth, who made 60, and Peter Trego, who scored 48.
