I am writing this to you today, well this should have been my Tuesday post, so you will get two lovely postings today to makeup for me not doing anything yesterday. No the snooze is not some ultra cool person that everyone should know. Although it is an ultra cool something that everyone does know. I am sure that every person at some time in their life has hit the snooze button, again, and again, a
Snooze Chatty Twitter Friends [Twitter] When that normally low key person you follow on Twitter starts flooding your timeline with tweets every ten minutes, you can temporarily unsubscribe to them using the TwitterSnooze web application. Hit the snooze button on someone for a certain number of days by entering your Twitter username, password, and the person you want to snooze into the TwitterSnooze web site. Behind the scenes, TwitterSnooze actually unsubscribes you and then resubscribes you to that person (all the while storing your password in their database!) so your snoozee may get email notifications about your temporary leave. So be warned about those key details before you hit the snooze button—still, a great way to miss a conference or "live tweet" event you're not inte
Remember how excited everyone was for the upcoming Western play-offs? Blockbuster trades created a buzz not felt in the NBA for some time. For two months there were great games and constant debate about the best team in the West (remember the Lakers-Suns game right after the Shaq trade?) Every night the ordering of the [...]

This afternoon should have been quite exciting, as it was the Bahrain Grand Prix. So exciting that I fell asleep during the race. Apart from a few scuffles (mostly involving the British drivers) there wasn't much of interest that happened. Poll-sitter Kubica lost his place pretty much off the start, and sadly never got it back (sadly because I don't like Ferraris). Nothing so far this season has

How many of you can snooze in comfort in the air? Some of us can probably snooze during the long haul flights but not the short ones. My hubby is one person who can walk into dreamland regardless of the flight time. Perhaps, those sleep masks issued by the airlines may be helpful to shut [...]
After our weeklong hiatus in the desert, we’ve returned to Salt City and within days found ourselves back at the OBGYN for another baby appointment. In the end, it proved to be one of our least exciting visits to the baby doctor so far, mainly because we didn’t get any “ultrasound” love. Having had two already, I guess we just expected to see it every time we went, which is apparently not the case. We arrived early, as usual, and after the standard stint in the waiting room, we were called back into “Examination Two.”
We started the visit with a nurse who asked us a series of questions we hadn’t heard before, such as “Does your family have a history of birth defects,” or “Do either of you have genital herpes?”, and our favorite “Are you at increased risk for the Fifth Disease?” We’re not entirely sure what that particular disease is, or the other four that apparently precede it. Maybe it’s a s
Meet Tim Bennett, a middle-class white guy, that started waking up to the global environmental nightmare in the mid-1980s. Back then he pushed the snooze button and slept on. Recently he re-awoke, but this time he fell out of bed. His anguish induced creativity was channeled into a film project that he called What a Way to Go: Life at the End of Empire. He delivers an unpolished and rugged 2-hour documentary about the mega crisis cocktail of global warming, peak oil, population overshoot and mass extinction. It features "inconvenient" thinkers and writers like Daniel Quinn, Derrick Jensen and Richard Heinberg, and scientists like William Schlesinger and Stuart Pimm. The material gathered in the film is rough, personal, confronting, disturbing and straightforward and definitely not packaged in the glossy and comfortable Hollywood format. It takes on subjects and issues that Gore and DiCaprio wouldn't dare. What a Way to Go: Life at the End of Empire. Maybe the current ugly state of thi
I had already read Po Bronson's article on children and sleep (it was linked on my Yahoo! page yesterday) and planned to post it later today: It's a great topic and Bronson is an M-mv fave. The communications manager at New York Media did the "work" for me, though. From her email message:“Sleep disorders,” says Dr. Paul Suratt of the University of Virginia , “can impair children’s I.Q.’s as much as lead exposure.”In this week’s New York magazine, on newsstands now and online, writer Po Bronson looks at how lack of sleep can set back children’s cognitive abilities. In “Snooze or Lose,” Bronson examines new research which shows that our over-stimulated, over-scheduled kids are getting less sleep than ever—and that it’s limiting their potential in alarming ways. He looks at surprising evidence of how much lack of sleep effects academic performance and emotional stability, as well as seemingly unrelated phenomena such as the international obesity epidemic and th

Well this was inevitable, Jay Smooth from illdoctrine has spoken, this time regarding BET’s controversial show, “A hot ghetto mess” and his diagnosis was? Boring. After all of this build up and hype, he says the show was simply on the same level of Bob Sagat’s America’s funniest home videos, check it out after the break. (more…)

People who think that they can make it through the day without resting for a bit may find themselves experiencing some problems along the way. Lack of sleep is no excuse for being lazy or feeling uneasy. People can choose to do something about it by disciplining themselves and knowing when to sleep and get the required number of hours to sleep.
Snoozing isn’t bad since it helps a person in the area of health and overall performance. Read the book by Dr. Helene Emsellem and you may pick up a couple of things about snoozing or losing.

Ever wonder what people say about sleep? Well for sure, a lot of sleep quotes and the way they sleep can help wake you up to reality or simply lie down laughing. We all long for sleep. Technically, it follows the phrase “I could sleep all day if I can!” Probably, this best point towards the direction of people who lack sleep or have obvious sleeping disorders to boot.
Images and hearing people talk about sleep may be interesting to most and it is best to see what we can all possibly depict out of them as well as consolidate as far as sleeping matters is concerned.

I am glad the Tall One is not going to work for a while. She has more time to take care of Miss Prissy and me, and the Cool One comes over more often. Yesterday, he visited us, and he held me in his hand. I fell asleep right away. Being around the Cool One is very relaxing. It feels as if I had never left the egg. Imagine my surprise when I woke up and saw the Cool One a few feet away from me. I was still in comfortable human hands, but it was the Tall One! He must have handed me off to her while I was snoozing. Talk about a rude awakening! I don't want her to start thinking that she can hold me like that! So I bit her right away and started moving toward the Cool One. Luckily, the Tall One realized that she could not hold me, so she handed me back to my friend's hand. I hope she doesn't try to hold me again! I bit her today when she tried to pick me up, just to make sure she doesn't get any ideas. I'm cool and tough, not cuddly!!!
MetroNaps is a new take on an old idea – providing purpose-built comfortable facilities for a daytime powernap. Yes, for you over anxious, stressed-out, hard workers you can now buy yourself some time in the land of Nod.
The concept of daytime naps was once a ritualistic part of all our lives as children and in many latin and equatorial countries, the siesta is still a part of the culture. Yet, here in the United States, sleep is one of the first things people tend to sacrifice and usually it's in order to accomplish something else.
But studies show that sleep depravation causes decreased productivity, and that a midday nap can help offset this decrease significantly. Did I mention that a lack of sleep can affect your ability to lose weight?
A 20 minute nap in a Powerpod will set you back $14 - $20 in one of their New York locations (Empire State Building and Financial District) or you can purchase a pod and install it in your office for around US$8000. Visit Metronaps online to f
You're shocked that I'm posting so early, aren't you class? I had such a powerful dream I slid my Blondalicious Body from my ivory silk sheets and ran to my desktop computer just so I could share the dream with you before it slipped away! In my dream I was told to post about The Snooze Factor, to define it, and then offer examples of posts by others which DO NOT HAVE the Snooze Factor. Perhaps you will re-think your posts and keep them from reeking of the dreaded Snooze Factor! What is the Snooze Factor?Have you ever read a blog with posts so boring you couldn't remember what you read if someone offered to pay you a gadzillion dollars? I'll let you in on a little secret--there are lots of blogs which impact me this way! Tedious, ho-hum, blah!, same-o, same-o blogs which offer me no new insights, have a zero 'edge', and are total cookie-cutter. In other words, they put me to sleep--thus, the term the Snooze Factor! These kind of posts and blogs are abundant in the blogosphere.
I’m sitting in a hotel room in Pennsylvania, having traveled here to support a dearly loved family member that was having a major surgery today. Julia and my mother are sleeping nearby and I am missing my husband, who is probably arriving at work right about now. Even though he wouldn’t be there if I were home, there’s something about being this far away that makes sleeping without him nearly impossible.
And then there’s the fact that couples throughout the hotel are having hotel sex right now - you know, the kind of sex you dare not have at home because it’s so wild and uninhibited, you couldn’t live there afterward. Although these days, wild and uninhibited for Dave and me means sex with sound. Since becoming parents, we’ve discovered that noise is the number one thing that tips off the sex police (i.e. Julia and the cats). So we’re silent lovers who rely on a complex series of gestures for communication. Imagine a baseball coach
Just thought I’d share a quick tip for people looking to cut down their morning stress. I’ve seen a lot of people suggest setting your alarm clock ahead 15mintues (so you end up getting up 15 minutes before you really need to) but I’ve found that this doesn’t always work well. Generally if I do this I know the clock is wrong and end up just hitting the snooze button.
Awhile ago I realized that it was the act of hitting the Snooze button and not the fact that my clock was off which was really helping me. The result was my decision to change the time my alarm actually sounded. Here’s the idea:
If you want to wake up at 7AM set your alarm clock for 6AM. No, you’re not going to crawl out of bet at 6 we know that. Instead of getting you out of bed you just want the alarm clock to wake you up. Roll over, hit the snooze and go back to sleep.
My alarm clock (it’s only the second I’ve ever had and has lasted close to eight years) increments
Did you know that if you are driving at 60mph, and you close your eyes for one second, your car would have traveled almost 90 feet? Yep, it's a scary fact, and evidence that driving while tired is just as dangerous as drinking and driving. Thankfully, there is a website I just discovered that can help keep teens save while driving at night or in the early mornings, or anytime drowsiness is a problem.
