While it may be unfair to consumers and fans, no need to single out Smashing Pumpkins. It sucks but so is the current state of the music business. Don’t hate on Billy when you are just going to download the album and all the bonus tracks for free. Trent Reznor is obviously the opposite. It would be nice for all artists to act this way but chances aren'’t too good.

And by smashing, I mean fantastic, splendid, awesome, impressive, or to sum it up in one really perfect word… Fractastic. I found this pumpkin carving site, and was just stunned at the talent. You’ve got to see the full selection for yourself. It just wouldn’t be Halloween unless you did. I’ve linked several different pages at the site, because there are just so many wonderful things to see I wouldn’t want you to miss any of them. The patterns are difficulty level rated, and honestly… I’ve just not seen another site as great.  I blog in awe of the talent at this site. After browsing the site, I’m thinking of all the possibilities. Watermelons can be carved, big ole cantaloupes and honeydews… eggplants. A person could really frac up their buffet table with some of these wonderful ideas. The 20-year-old man who died in Vancouver last week did not die from a crowd-surfing or mosh-pit-related injury, as was expected. The coroner's office found no trauma during their autopsy and will have to wait for toxicology reports to come back to determine the cause of death.

Dear Billy, So you’ve announced that you are going to release 4 different versions of your long awaited album here in the U.S. 3 are going to have bonus tracks- and the 4th no bonus track. Why? The Smashing Pumpkins (or, better yet, Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain) have settled on the track list for their new album, Zeitgeist, set for release July 7. As one could expect with Mr. Sunshine Billy Corgan involved, there’s a lot of titles about being happy and loving life. What we still don't know is who is actually in the band.

I think it's fair to say that the first Smashing Pumpkins album was one of the best records of it's time. "Gish" was released through Hut Records in 1991 and was like a breath of fresh air in the then grunge dominated climate. Whether or not he was invited is uncertain, but former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha (the quiet one) will not be joining the bandÂ’s upcoming reunion. ItÂ’s probably not a bad choice on IhaÂ’s part. While joining the tour may be financially appealing, he knows in his heart that 1995 ended a while ago and itÂ’s time to move on, emotionally and artistically.

As for those of you like me who are not as up on your music news as some people, you may be unaware that alternative era band The Smashing Pumpkins are planning on releasing a new album called Zeitgeist this July. This will be the band’s first in about 7 years after breaking up for what everyone thought was for good. Since then, there were brief solo careers for front man Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, neither of which I have heard at this time and a great album from the short lived Zwan. Then using a few full page newspaper ads that ran here in Chicago (the Pumpkins are our hometown band) Corgan called for a reunion of the band and our anticipation of a new album has grown ever since.
