Harvard announced that they're putting a moratorium on transfer students for the next two academic years.The reason? A student housing shortage. Doesn't Harvard own pretty much all of Harvard Square? Many of you probably weren't reading this blog back in October, but I blogged about how Harvard let a space sit vacant for 7 years because they wanted to handpick their tenant (here). Way to not plan ahead guys.That pretty much ruins it for most current students. Assuming you're a freshman right now, by the time the moratorium is up, it'll be your senior year. These days, lots of stuff migrates from Texas to Colorado. Driving around the Denver metro area, you’ll notice Texas license plates, people replacing “hello” with “hey, y’all,” and, of course… Republican redistricting schemes.
But today, the Supreme Court put a new spin on an old Texas adage: “don’t mess with Colorado.”
After snaking its way through the courts for the past several years, a Republican challenge to the state’s redistricting plan was thrown out in a unanimous decision, leaving the current congressional map in place:
The high court ruled unanimously that four voters who had challenged the map were not entitled to sue in an effort to overturn the current map, drawn up by a judge when lawmakers deadlocked, and replace it with one passed by a Republican-controlled state Legislature.
Their reaction to the news?
“We’re disappointed,” said Denver attorney John Zakhem, who represented the voter
