Recently Google did a major PageRank update where a lot of sites were downgraded. Many experts believe this PageRank update was Google’s response to link selling - sites which sell links lost points in their PageRank.
Google measures all web pages on a scale of importance from 0 to 10, which is shown in a small green pixel bar on browsers carrying the Google Toolbar.
PageRank is “supposedly” measured by the number of backlinks to your site.
Online democracy in action, a link is a vote for your site. The more votes you have the higher your site is ranked. At least that’s how it was supposed to work until a lot of high PR sites started selling links and put a monkey wrench into the whole system.

On October 26th, Google started it’s famous PageRank update. At that time, this blog received a PR5. I was happy(ego ) about it until today. While I was working on 1 Cool File detail page, I noticed that my PageRank was lower. It’s now a PR3.
I checked with 5 PageRank checker and they all confirmed my dropped in PR. The strange thing is my original blog URL is still PR5. Could it be some delay because I did a 301 redirect and will be back to PR5 later? Is it another round of PR slapping? Is it normal and be set later until the next official update?
I know that some of you will buy a site based on the new PageRank. It may not be the only factor you will look at unless you want it mostly for the PR. I would suggest that hold off to see if others are slapped again.
Did you get slapped since the update? (I mean like me)

As you know, I was one of the first to repost the 2kbloggers list last Thursday and in common with Bob and Chino had my blog suspended from Technoratis listings temporarily (Angela by chance didn’t make the list clickable). It would have been rather more than a temporary suspension but for the words of wisdom from Bob.
Now, Technorati have gotten around to replying to us as to the reason for the suspension in a comment on Bob’s site. Seems that were a substantial number of the 2kbloggers to have similarly reposted the list, their whole ranking system would have become worthless. Their reasoning is that their system is intended to give high rankings to blogs which get a lot of relevant links.
