The last thing that we visited in Boston, Massachusetts before we left is the Prudential Skywalk in Prudential Center. It is said to be the highest observatory in the city that is accessible to the public because the observatory in John Hancock Tower (the tallest building in the city), was closed after the September 11 attacks. The observatory deck is located in the 50th floor of Prudential Tower,

A review with pictures. In short, it was huge rip-off. At every single stage of the trip to the skywalk (and thus, Grand Canyon West), the operators charged the most eye-popping, exorbitant fees that tested the very limits of shamelessness. If you go, prepare to feel violated! The trip began with a drive down US-93 (passing the Hoover Dam) for 70 miles from Las Vegas. Then Pierce Ferry Road for 30

The question I am posing — to visit or not to visit the Grand Canyon Skywalk when you’re heading to the Grand Canyon and/or taking a Grand Canyon tour.
The Grand Canyon, on a tour from Las Vegas
First, my bias in all this: I have never been to the Grand Canyon. And I am starting to plan the - storied? cliche? inevitable? - family trip to Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Arizona and the southwest. So I wanted some good, actionable, honest travel advice. My reputation as a ‘dad’ and a ‘husband’ are at stake. It would be our first major family road trip, so I cannot mess it up. (Or else.)
Step 1: Ask people who know
I work at a travel company, so I asked some of our staff. They all agreed on a few things — tour the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas, if you’re planning a summer trip with kids, because the Grand Canyon itself gets hot. As in, HOT HOT HOT.
Fair enough, seems like good advice. I love Vegas, it doesn’t take much to convince m

On May 2005, the final test was conducted and the stucture passed engineering requirements by 400 percent, enabling it to withstand the weight of 71 fully loaded Boeing 747 airplanes (more than 71 million pounds). The bridge will be able to sustain winds in excess of 100 miles per hour from 8 different directions, as well as an 8.0 magnitude earthquake within 50 miles. More than one million pounds of steel will go into the construction of the Grand Canyon Skywalk.Design-tested by a world-renowned team involved in such projects as: Taipei 101 Mandalay Bay Resort The Palms Hotel Casino Wynn Resort Las Vegas Hoover Dam
Grand Canyon Skywalk
The Grand Canyon Skywalk opened last month — if you missed the worldwide media frenzy you must be living under a rock or in a hole.
The BBC, CNN, the New York Times, LA Times, Las Vegas Review-Journal — all the major media covered the opening ceremonies. And there were VIPs and travel industry types aplenty, from astronaut Buzz Aldrin to Viator’s very own Rod Cuthbert (read Rod’s blog post about the Skywalk opening ceremonies).
Rod had a great time at the event, and he remains an enthusiastic supporter of the Skywalk and its caretakers, the Hualapai tribe. Rod did have some concerns about the inevitable crowds the Skywalk would draw, and the ability of the organizers to cope with the rush of visitors.
Based on feedback we’ve received here at Viator, Rod’s concerns seem justified. Bigger than expected crowds are making their way to the Grand Canyon’s West Rim each day, and they’re finding they need to be well pr
Grand Canyon Skywalk
Quite possibly one of the ugliest tourist developments I have ever seen the Grand Canyon Skywalk opens to the public in 2 days. At $75US it’s not a cheap way to see the canyon eigther, in fact personally I don’t even think the whole development looks like it is worth $75. Still in a couple of days the carpark will be filled with RV’s, SUV’s and Tour Buses and the skywalk will be straining under the weight of overweight middle americans with wallets bigger than their brains. The walk is conveniently shaped like a horseshoe probably designed to point visitors straight back at their vehicles after they have completed the obligitory 500 steps after first stepping out of it.

The Grand Canyon Skywalk is a tourist attraction, commissioned by the Hualapai Indian tribe, unveiled March 20, 2007 and to be opened to the public on March 28, 2007, along the Colorado River on the edge of the Grand Canyon in the U.S. state of Arizona. The Skywalk charges $25 per person in addition to Grand Canyon West entry fees. The horseshoe-shaped glass walkway is suspended 4,000 feet (1 219 meters) above the canyon, a height that eclipses the world's largest skyscrapers. It protrudes 65 feet (20 meters) from the edge of the canyon, and its walls and floor are built from glass 4 inches (10.2 cm) thick. The Skywalk is able to hold 7 tons of weight, allowing for 800 people weighing 175 lbs. (80 kg) each to stand on the bridge; the allowed capacity, though, will be limited to only 120 persons. All visitors will be provided with shoe covers to protect them from slipping and to prevent scratching of the glass floor.More related :The Smallest Owl in The World - XenoglauxAn egg unexpected
The Grand Canyon's Skywalk has been inaugurated with hundreds of invited guests getting stunning views over the canyon through its glass walkway. Rising 4,000ft (1,220m) from the canyon's floor and 70ft (20m) beyond its rim, the Skywalk is being described as an engineering first.Former astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin was among the first to go onto the walkway to join Hualapai leaders for a brief ceremony.Source & Image:BBCNews
Sponsor This PostAfraid of heights? You might tread carefully, then, if you visit Grand Canyon West, a tourist destination whose main attraction is The Skywalk. The cantilevered walkway, which is made its media debut Tuesday, is a mere 4,000 feet above the bottom of the canyon. It opens to the public on March 28.Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon, was one of the first to walk out onto the structure.
Bootee-clad Skywalkers on opening day
On the Grand Canyon Skywalk, everyone wears bootees. You get to keep them, and for the $25 you’ll pay to enjoy this horseshoe walkway that’s been clipped onto the side of the Grand Canyon, that’s a good deal, because the Skywalk experience is priceless…
It’s sort of counter-intuitive that the new must-see attraction in the Grand Canyon is man-made. After all this is one of the great natural wonders of the world, so does it really need $30 million worth of metal and glass to make it more attractive?
Well, yes. That’s the brilliance of the Skywalk: it’s not an attraction in its own right — in fact it blends in so well you could miss seeing it from some angles if you weren’t on the lookout for it — but a sort of magnifying glass for the Canyon itself. Once you’re out there, walking on top of the glass and looking down 4,000 feet to the canyon floor, you’ll forget
AP - Walking gingerly across the translucent surface, visitors hear the glass layers creak. Far below, directly underfoot, they see the Colorado River as a pea-green ribbon.
